Karl Maher at Can’t See the Center has the details.
Remember: an informed electorate is not the same as a pre-formed electorate. And to many contemporary jouralists, the latter is the goal.

Well of COURSE.
Mary McCarthy’s trail leads back to the CIA; it does NOT lead back to George Walker Bush. Therefore, the press doesn’t give a shit.
Mr. Maher’s piece is excellent. I’d call it Pulitzer prize material, except that it is well reasoned, factual, and doesn’t serve to discredit the present administration.
Makes you wonder where their heads are.
TW: Earth to Rocky Mountain News, Earth to Rocky Mountain News, come in please.
I really think it is nothing short of a miracle that Republicans gained control of the Presidency, House and Senate, while liberals have contol of MSM and Academia. However, with the constant negative press against Bush for the past six years, is it any wonder that his poll numbers are so low and that the Republicans may suffer some loses in the next elections?
Please keep up the fight Jeff! The country needs you now more than ever.
Totally? Like whats up with this negativism on his domestic agenda. A billion dollars for abstinence, all down the drain at the first sight of a college party.
Negative numbers reflect a lot of the libertarian-right and staunchly conservative types that wish Mr. Bush would either prosecute the war harder or spend less. Given an alternative of the Democrats, they won’t be rushing to the polls chanting “we can do better!”
The awful fact is that we don’t have much of an opposition party here – similar to the miserable fate of the Conservative Party in Britain.
