“I agree with Harry Belafonte and Cindy Sheehan that I am the world’s greatest terrorist. I’d have to go some to emulate my idols—Joe, Mao and Adolf—but a fella’s gotta start somewhere.”

Larry Elder offers up “The (blue) State of the Union address.” A taste:

My fellow Americans, I am evil.

I only care about rich people, and rich people only care about other rich people—unless, of course, your name is Kennedy. In fact, it is misleading to say that I only care about the rich. I truly only care about Republican, white, Christian males who are rich.

I would say that I am truly the president of Halliburton, except I’m having the darndest time spelling the word “Halliburton.” I’m corrupt, incompetent and racist. Oh, sure, in order to help deal with the problem of illegal aliens, I have offered a guest worker program, but “guest worker program” spelled backwards means “shoot to kill.” Or at least I think it does.

Sure, it’s pointed and cartoonish.  And a bit heavy-handed.  But it’s also perversely enjoyable, particularly if you don’t take it too seriously and have come off of a week wherein every aspect of your worth has been called into question by liberal Democrats who, you know, are really “just trying to have a substantive conversation.”

Actually, it’s probably not cartoonish enough.  It is very hard to parody John and Ted and Mike and Cindy and Hugo and Harry and on and on and on…

John and Ted and Mike and Cindy and Hugo and Harry

Man, I loved that movie!  What’s Elliott Gould up to these days, anyway?

  3. corvan says:

Forget John and Cindy, just thinking about Mike and Ted makes me sort of ill.

Quoting Harry Belafonte… “It is those who have and the extent to which they want to stay that way, at the expense of those who do not have. If these inequities prevail, if they continue to suffocate us, you’ll find villainy and terrorism as a constant value in our lives.”

So in other words, terrorism is determined by a zero sum game in which the running dog capitalist west, deprive the “have nots” of precious scarce resources, driving them into a corner from which the only escape is a program of violence against civilian targets.

    – Yeh…. see…. thats the problem Harry… we kind of already know that “villainy and terrorism”

are your constant values in the guise of “activists and patriots”….

I have always wanted a SOTU speech to begin:

“The Union stands as she stood, rock-bottomed and copper-sheathed, one and indivisible!”

Stephen Vincent Benét (1898–1943) The Devil and Daniel Webster, (1937).

The post is funny, but……all those comments, thoughts, opinions, and rants?  Mr. Elder just did a roll up of what the “progressives” have said.

It’s a summary of the collective mind of the left.  I’m hoping that there aren’t many on the left who read that whilst nodding their head non-stop, muttering “Yep, this guy has it nailed!”, until the last paragraph or two.

  8. McGehee says:

I dunno. If Bush did say those things I still don’t think the Democrats would have applauded.

  9. JD says:

Anybody care to take a guess on how long it will take for Larry Elder to be referred to as a race traitor, not really black, somebody’s house bitch, etc …

TW : fear, as in, I fear for our society if the left every gets back in charge.

    89% of voting blacks?

Funny thing is, the Wall Street Journal recently had a snippet in its Friday “Weekend Journal” real estate section about Harry Belafonte putting his NYC apartment up for sale.

    For $13 million.

Conisdering the inequities between my net worth and Mr. Belafonte’s, I’m sure he’ll agree I have every moral right to bomb his Day-O-singing ass.
