Trump solicitation for vets goes to his own foundation [Darleen Click]

Beware

After ducking the final Republican presidential debate heading into next week’s Iowa caucuses, GOP front-runner Donald Trump announced that he would hold his own pro-veterans event during the debate to raise money for veterans. Trump even set up a special website to solicit donations to help veterans. […]

The website, which is nothing more than a single page with stock photos and a credit card donation form, claims that “100% of your donations will go directly to Veterans needs.”

There’s only one problem: 100% of the money raised on the site goes directly to Donald Trump’s personal non-profit foundation, according to a disclosure listed at the bottom of the page.

“The Donald J Trump Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,” the disclosure reads. “An email confirmation with a summary of your donation will be sent to the email address provided above.”

What part of “What starts out as a cause, becomes a business, and ends up as a racket.” don’t you all understand ???

On the hand, what do any of us know about all those “Non-profits”, and “NGOs”, and whatnots that have proliferated like the Tika Virus in this Progressive Era ostensibly to serve veterans ???

The only time a gift I made to benefit veterans was absolutely certain to do so, was when I gave a couple of dollars to a guy begging in the parking lot outside Target.

It may not have been the most efficient tactic, but it did cut out the middlemen.

I suppose it was all supposed to go into a treasure chest or something.

The Old Commiecrats used to spit at veterans and call them baby killers.

The New Commiecrats turned Dhimmicrats show faux concern for them to score political points.

Whatever you think of The Donald, he is better for veterans than the faux charities.

    Greetings, Curmudgeon:

One of my father’s teaching went like this. “Politics is the second oldest profession. Whores sell themselves. Politicians sell everyone they can.” So, it’s not just “TheDonald” that I’m skeptical about.

I grew up in the Bronx of the ’50s and ’60s, so I probably understand the Trump song and dance better than many. It’s a kind of verbally aggressive braggadoccio that one comes across while waiting for the next game at the local basketball court or outside one of the city’s many “candy stores”. And I’m sure that many elsewhere see it as “The Ugly New Yorker” engaged in a most inappropriate endeavor.

Your last assertion may well be accurate, but this is the Progressive Era in which, and not long ago, Americans learned that their donations to a breast cancer cure charity were being “re-gifted” as Seinfeld might say, to Planned Parenthood’s abattoirs. Like all those other institutions that have been marched through, having the citizenry understand what’s going on in these organizations is a bug, not a feature.
