Can’t say I’m really worked up by seeing Leftists hoisted up on their own equality-before-individual-rights petard.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has begun contacting female directors to investigate gender discrimination in Hollywood.
In the EEOC letter sent out Thursday, a copy of which was obtained by The Times, the agency asks to schedule interviews with the women, “so that we may learn more about the gender-related issues which you are facing in both the film and television industries.”
In interviews with several of the women who have received letters from the government agency — which is following up on a request the American Civil Liberties Union made in May — the directors said they were grateful that longtime complaints about gender discrimination in Hollywood are being taken seriously.
“It feels historic,” said Lori Precious, a director of commercials and music videos who received a letter from the EEOC. “We were all hoping it would go this far. I’m so tired of hearing, ‘There aren’t qualified women.’ There are qualified women to do every directing job in Hollywood.”

Good old Gwyneth Paltrow. She throws a tantrum because as a second-tier player in a blockbuster film franchise she doesn’t get paid as much as the star that people are actually paying to see, and now the sharks are circling progressive Hollywood.
Some blogger juxtaposed it as people are going to see Iron Man because of Robert Downey, Jr., but in spite of Gwyneth Paltrow. I know there are a lot of other actresses I’d rather see in that role.
And really, what is it that makes her such a hot property anyway? The fact she looks exactly like her mother, and…?
But she doesn’t look like her Mother that much.
Blythe Danner is one sexy-voiced knockout; her Daughter not at all.
[FYI: It is reported that Blythe got that sexy voice as a result of some kind of throat illness she caught while filming 1776.]
I’d be happier of most of these performers were automated out of jobs in favor of computer-generated simulacra, Idoru-style.
Cheaper, more reliable, won’t go off-message. Besides, with a generation raised on CGI movies, video games and hentai would they even notice the difference…
Greetings:
Funny you should mention this. A week or so back, Charlene Hunter-Gault, (back from her hajira to South Africa for some unexplained reason or other) and, once again, on the PBS NewsHour, kind of threw out the first pitch (and much better than our current President ever could) in an interview with a Negro lawyer who was both aware of and upset by the racial travesties committed by the overwhelmingly white racist imperialist colonialist rulers of the Hollywood cabal.
What do we what? More!!
When do we want it? Now!!

I doubt that they will take notice that there is an overabundance of gays in the entertainment industry.
The NBA would go out of business if the EEOC set quotas
If that had been made up it would have drawn derision.
Greetings:
At the risk of abusing your hospitality, I’d like to take one more bite at this apple.
The television I watch is of the over-the-air variety which includes a fair number of new stations resulting from the analog-to-digital TV signal conversion. I think of these stations as the -x (as in 2-3 or 66-4) and if I were President of these United States I might refer to them as JV stations. There are a fair number of eSpanish, various Asian language channels, movie channels, retro (re-run) channels, all much preferable to the relentless “paid programming” channels.
As I have been watching a bit more TV lately, one of the things that has caught my attention is the demographics of the various acting talents. I attribute this to my inclination to observe backgrounds and peripheries which probably has resulted from my basketball playing and psychology studying days.
Where my observations have me now goes something like this. There are significantly more minorities in both programming and commercials. In addition, there seems to me to be significant shift in the relations between these characters in terms of things like primacy versus recency, dominance versus subordination, and intimacy versus casualness. My bottom line is that there seems to be a significant reduction in what might be referred to as (white) majority primacy.
Yet, and obviously this is based on my personal observations, we seem to have the opening moves in a new Civil Rightsd, Inc.campaign which, if successful, is likely to drive the current situation even further in a 21st Century Progressive end of the Obama siecle direction.
I’m would be interested reading any yay, nay, or may-be responses.
What bothers me about the vast new array of multicultural TV on my cable system’s channel lineup is that the damn cable company won’t add RFD-TV for those of us who speak English and want our culture reflected on the tube.
The actors are contractors. Does this equal pay stuff apply?
