Heck of a job, Barry!
Five years before he was shot to death in the failed terrorist attack in Garland, Texas, Nadir Soofi walked into a suburban Phoenix gun shop to buy a 9-millimeter pistol.
At the time, Lone Wolf Trading Co. was known among gun smugglers for selling illegal firearms. And with Soofi’s history of misdemeanor drug and assault charges, there was a chance his purchase might raise red flags in the federal screening process.
Inside the store, he fudged some facts on the form required of would-be gun buyers.
What Soofi could not have known was that Lone Wolf was at the center of a federal sting operation known as Fast and Furious, targeting Mexican drug lords and traffickers. The idea of the secret program was to allow Lone Wolf to sell illegal weapons to criminals and straw purchasers, and track the guns back to large smuggling networks and drug cartels.
Instead, federal agents lost track of the weapons and the operation became a fiasco, particularly after several of the missing guns were linked to shootings in Mexico and the 2010 killing of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in Arizona.
Soofi’s attempt to buy a gun caught the attention of authorities, who slapped a seven-day hold on the transaction, according to his Feb. 24, 2010, firearms transaction record, which was reviewed by the Los Angeles Times. Then, for reasons that remain unclear, the hold was lifted after 24 hours, and Soofi got the 9-millimeter. […]
In May, Soofi and his roommate, Elton Simpson, burst upon the site of a Garland cartoon convention that was offering a prize for the best depiction of the prophet Muhammad, something offensive to many Muslims. Dressed in body armor and armed with three pistols, three rifles and 1,500 rounds of ammunition, the pair wounded a security officer before they were killed by local police. […]
Asked recently for an update on the Garland shooting, FBI Director James B. Comey earlier this month declined to comment. “We’re still sorting that out,” he said.
Officials at the Justice Department and the FBI declined to answer questions about whether the 9-millimeter pistol was one of the guns used in the Garland attack or seized at Soofi’s apartment.
I’m sure the investigation is ongoing and is expected to last until sometime in January 2017.
In the Obama Administration, billions of dollars worth of innocent-blood-soaked bucks circulate aimlessly, prohibited from stopping where Truman said they must.
It’s amazing. I’m getting crap from GOP “candidates” whining about needing some leeway from the right to do what needs to be done to win(they mean pandering left) and they’re getting their boogers stomped out by Trump who everyone agrees is a clown-show on acid.
Do they not see what we see?
“These are not the issues you are looking for. Move along.”
Handing out firearms to Mexican drug cartels was just a test run, as it turns out, since getting away with it helpfully informed the decision to hand out nuclear weapons to the Iranian Mullahs.
Crap sdferr, that was a little jarring even at cynical central!
Honest to Pete, Lee, I meant no cynicism atall, but just looked at what’s been going on and what is going on. This seems to me a reasonable correlation.
I’ve been hearing the word “impeachment” being bandied about again, and I just shake my head and wonder what makes people think McConnell has grown new, magnificent balls?
Anyone heard the Donald’s take on the Iran treaty?
;-P
Ohh, trust me Sdferr, I’m totally in correlation with your take on the traitor in clown paint. Maybe even more so; I honestly believe the man is a die hard Islamist. Most in our camp (I know not your particularities ) say he is Marxist, I think he’s more in the Mussolini fascist type.
If the Iran “treaty” isn’t actually a “treaty” (and therefore doesn’t require Senate approval) but an “administrative action”, then couldn’t the next President come along and undo it with his own IWonPenPhone?
Yeah, I got a million of ’em. Try the veal and be sure to tip your waitresses…
Personally, I’d prefer the next executive “undo” the deal with generous deliveries of heavy ordnance and ground penetrating bombs on Iranian weapons development and storage facilities, than any penphone. But that’s just my view.

We are of one mind on our desired response of the next president, sdferr. That would solve many problems at once.
Who I will be voting for in the GOP Primary will be determined by my belief that they are the best person to take control of our National Security.
Domestically doesn’t matter – that is solely in our hands now.
The American Republic and it’s Constitution are dead.
Not going to happen because then we’d have to worry about Iran’s nuclear retaliation. This is as much about constraining our ability to act in our interests (as non-leftist, i.e., “sane:” people understand them) as it is about constraining Isreal.
Chamberlain may have been weak and naive, but he wasn’t anti-British. Obama is craven, mendacious, anti-British, anti-American, and probably anti-Western (Judeo-Christian civilization as traditionally understood prior to the day before yesterday) as well.
When the EMP takes us out, I hope the detail guarding the Hawaiian compound has enough self-respect to stand aside at let the mob Mussolini his ass. Assuming he hasn’t sought asylum in China….
[…] I’m sure that most of us [ie: the minority of Sane people left in this country] would agree with Friend In The Ether Sdferr’s sentiments: […]
