Mob rule is cool when you control the mob.

Yep. And some people are experiencing that within states themselves.

People who live out in the rural areas of New York State are being shafted because of NYCity

In California, San Francisco & Los Angeles Socialists pretty much screw everybody else in the state.

In a pure democracy, politicians running for national office wouldn’t even have top concentrate on the big states, but solely on the big cities within those big states. Win big enough in NYC, Los Angeles and Chicago and you can write off the 20 least populated States entirely. Add San Francisco, Las Vegas, Austin, Chicago, NYC, Boston, DC, Atlanta and Miami, and you have a working majority, because no matter how red a State might be, there will be enough blue votes within the State to offset them enough so that the big cities can wash them out entirely.

As it is, with California already in the Dem column, it takes Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado to get close, and there hasn’t been a single presidential election where DC has gone Republican since they got to vote in presidential elections. Why do you think Obama is trying to flood Texas with all those “new citizens”?

It would have been nice if they’d spent a bit more time explaining how each state is an independent sovereign with its own power and dignity, and how the United States is nothing more than an agreement by the various state to work together on a limited number of issues.

Things went to Hell in a hurry after people stopped saying “The United States are…” and started saying “The United States is…”
