   Since Sat. night has passed to Sun. morn; since on every hand they tells us it’s Mother’s Day! and we ought celebrate that — let’s say “Good.”, and commend to those who have not seen it the movie “The Better Angels” for to watch and think on mothers, their own and others’.

   Oh, and Stonewall Jackson died this day, eighteen sixty-three, a casualty of grey on grey — and had a mother too.

   Having pretty much grown up in the Bronx of the ’50s and ’60s and driven a hack in the ’70s, I just want to make sure you all get this straight. A “New York minute” is defined as the length of time between when the traffic light turns green and the taxicab driver behind you blows his horn.
