Oddly enough, that was the first album I ever bought with my own money. I was 8 years old, and grew up 200 yards from a Montgomery Ward’s.
Barry White got fame from his voice and sexy R&B ballads, but most didn’t know that he was a pretty accomplished conductor. I still think it’s cool that he combined both classical and dance into one mix.
And in an entirely different vein, 3/5ths of Dream Theater plus Tony Levin doing an incredible version of “Rhapsody in Blue”.
It’s amazing what you can do with a 4-piece rock band… though granted, they’re cheating by having 4 crazy-talented musicians all in one band. What about all those other bands who don’t even have a *single* talented musician? “Sometimes I think you’ve got to spread the wealth around.”

Good pick, Darleen!
Best use of wokka-chikka EVAR.
The Hippopotamus of Love; everyone loves them some Barry White.
[…] Protein Wisdom: Great old tune […]
Let’s waltz. And then variable stuff.
Obscure 80’s flashback: OMD’s “Dream of Me”
(Same song, with a vocal part added.)
In a similar vein from the same general time, “A Fifth of Beethoven”
