Update

Tests came back today on my mother: cancer is stage 4. She’ll do 3 days of chemo starting tomorrow, and depending on how that goes we’ll take it from there. Best-case scenario is a year; prognosis is 2-6 months if she can handle the chemo.

Oh. And the assisted living facility that she’d been stuck in at $1500 per month w/ the lights out curfew at nine, sharing a room with two other women? Says that because she didn’t give them 30-days notice, they won’t return her $1000 security deposit.

They haven’t said this to me, however. I’m going to call after dinner and see if the person running this facility wants $1000 now, or every social service organization I can think of, as well as the Detective working my Mom’s case (who specializes in elderly abuse), looking into every aspect of the operation.

Not to mention the efforts I will take to make the place very famous with respect to search engines.

At any rate, that’s where things stand. After Friday I’ll know more and set up a trip or two back east. Beyond that there’s coming up with the retainer money to have a notice of lis pendans placed on the condo my brother bought outright.

Mean people suck.

  2. Psalm 58:
    3The wicked are estranged from the womb;
    they go astray from birth, speaking lies.
    4 They have venom like the venom of a serpent,
    like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
    5so that it does not hear the voice of charmers
    or of the cunning enchanter.
    6O God, break the teeth in their mouths;
    tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
    7Let them vanish like water that runs away;
    when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted.
    8Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime,
    like the stillborn child who never sees the sun.
    9Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns,
    whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!
    10 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
    he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.
    11Mankind will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
    surely there is a God who judges on earth.”

    Take all the time away you need. Mileycyrussays will still be here when you get back.

    Much as we all might wish otherwise.

    Peace be with you, Jeff, and with your mother. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

    Justice will out … and Karma is going to be one mean, sob to your indecent “brother.”

    It’s just gonna be painful for awhile. It’s the nature of this. It won’t be be okay for quite awhile. It’ll be bad and keep being so for awhile.

    After living with us for 2+ years, my MIL moved into an Alzheimer’s assisted living joint (because neither of us could stay with her 24/7, and that’s necessary after the disease gets to a certain stage) that cost $2300/mo. She stayed there for a few years; had an issue there, and now lives with another daughter; and at 93, she is doing seemingly sort-of fairly well.

    We never told her..because, the Groundhog Day effect thinger. It would’ve been cruel, to all of us.

    I am sorry for what your Mom and you are going through.

  8. I’m really sorry you all have to go through this. I hope things get cleared up as quickly as possible.
