Obama on 60 Minutes tosses James Clapper under the bus on ISIS [Darleen Click]

Barry, Himself, is always blameless …

On 60 Minutes, the president faulted his spies for failing to predict the rise of ISIS. There’s one problem with that statement: The intelligence analysts did warn about the group.

Nearly eight months ago, some of President Obama’s senior intelligence officials were already warning that ISIS was on the move. In the beginning of 2014, ISIS fighters had defeated Iraqi forces in Fallujah, leading much of the U.S. intelligence community to assess they would try to take more of Iraq.

But in an interview that aired Sunday evening, the president told 60 Minutes that the rise of the group now proclaiming itself a caliphate in territory between Syria and Iraq caught the U.S. intelligence community off guard. Obama specifically blamed James Clapper, the current director of national intelligence: “Our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that, I think, they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,” he said.

Reached by The Daily Beast after Obama’s interview aired, one former senior Pentagon official who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq was flabbergasted. “Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting,” the former official said.

Once again the elements of a proposed “either-or” proposition are not mutually exclusive, indeed, are likely both the case.

  2. happyfeet says:

even if Clapper said it food stamp can be forgiven for thinking that it was entirely possible that Clapper was lying

  3. sdferr says:

And this is why the ClownDisaster keeps Clapper in his position? So that he can ignore him whenever he speaks? Si. Why not? It’s perfect toward a never-ending unaccountablity.

    – Bumblefuck is a whiner and excuse maker and avoider of responsibility, just like his Progressive moron base. Him and his clown car administration are guilty of countless screwups, but the closest he comes to wearing it is to “admit” one of his people jumped the shark. Not him mind you. He is error free and blameless.

    – Of course the fact that his own pile of useful idiots are totally disgusted with him after 7+years of 24/7 manufactured “good man” bullshit, they see he never broke through and showed the slightest statesmanship or leadership ability, and they’re sick and tired of having to constantly lie and cover for his stupidity and boneheaded moves.

  7. geoffb says:

Yemen model won’t work in Iraq, Syria.

    ?????

On the contrary, they both seem to be working out in the same way. The problem is in seeing just what this administration considers to be a successful operation.

bbh, If the cadre surrounding BH thought they could continue and still collect, they’d continue keeping on. Instead, the cadre has decided BH has reached the end of his shelf life and are looking for a brand new shiny gravy train that is ideologically aligned with their values.

The cadre could care less about lies and stupidity, as long as it pays off and they don’t have to do something that requires actual work.

  9. Ah, Blake, but will they take the fatal step and ‘remove’ him, so the Royal Court can play-off the martyrdom for a few years [or decades]?

  11. sdferr says:

Ach, sorry, misplaced that last comment into the wrong thread. I’ll put it where it belongs as well.

  12. bgbear says:

They probably forgot to put something in the intelligence reports to help Obama know it was important: “WARNING, Super scary important, we mean it bro’ “

  15. Blake says:

Bob, there is no way BH’s cadre shoves him aside. I’m quite sure the cadre thinks BH will not be missed and won’t be of any use as a meal ticket down the road.

  16. Well, there are people still making money off of Malcolm X.

I just would not put anything past these types.

  17. Blake says:

Bob, as much as I despise Barack Obama, I also try to temper my disdain with the fact that Obama is in over his head, knows it, but, his handlers continue to prop up the shallow and vain excuse for man known as Barack. I got the impression, at times during the last election, that Obama doesn’t want to be where he is, knows he’s a fraud but is so completely a captive of those around him, he doesn’t think he can escape. And, though I’m quite sure Obama is closeted, he still has children to worry about and, that, more than anything, probably gives him nightmares.

Which is my way of agreeing that yes, I wouldn’t put anything past those types.

There’s just a bit much being made of the Secret Service’s flaws and weaknesses.

It’s like there’s a movement afoot to ready the martyr card.

  22. serr8d says:

Oh, Bob and Blake have antennae vibrating as well I see.

Blake, The Cadre isn’t running this show. The Cadre is part of the sideshow. As are the ‘politically influential’ billionaires.

How many trillionaires are out there now, and who are they I wonder ?

  23. BigBangHunter says:

    – So the real irony is the richies knew him and his flock were elitist morons, just a hello and goodbye short of savants, so they played him and made even bigger fortunes off things like “occupy my insanity”. Lets face it, they know how to cash in on anything, that’s one of the clues as to how they got rich in the first place. And you know what. I don’t give a rats ass as long as the economy is healthy and everyone is more or less cutting it. More power to them as long as they drag everyone else along. That’s the aspect of things the morons on the Left can never comprehend past their petty jealousies.

    – In other news….

    – Apparently some of the joint chiefs didn’t get this months narrative memo.

    – Wonder how many Generals Jug ears will have to fire over this embarrassment.

  24. Blake says:

nr and serrd, isn’t it interesting that over the course of the current administration, several scandals have broken about the Secret Service? Anyone else find it rather coincidental that the reputation of the Secret Service has taken a pounding over the last 6 years?

I find it hard to believe the Secret Service suddenly became this corrupt and inept.

I think I’ll watch “Signs” to bring myself up to speed on the proper shape and wearing of tinfoil hats.

Heh. Could be forever worse, I suppose.

Traditions and customs long held have been rudely discarded.

The calendars have been set back, History restarted.

The lessons of the Past lie unwanted, not consulted.

No. But you can have a guillotine.

Clapper’s on the same page as Obama and his [mis]administration. Hell they’ve all likely read the same insightful book.
