Woman beheaded — in OKLAHOMA … [Darleen Click] UPDATED 3x

“Workplace violence” to be declared in 3 … 2 … 1

Police say a woman who was killed by a co-worker at a food distribution center in suburban Oklahoma City was beheaded.

Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said Friday that the woman, who has not been identified, was beheaded by a man who attacked her and another woman Thursday at Vaughan Foods in Moore.

An off-duty officer who was working at the business shot the suspect. The surviving victim and the suspect were still hospitalized Friday.

The motive for the attack was unclear, but Lewis said the suspect and the victims were apparently not involved with each other outside of their work at the business.

Unclear? Really?

Police press conference

News9.com – Oklahoma City, OK – News, Weather, Video and Sports |

According to Sgt. Jeremy Lewis with the Moore Police Department, coworkers told police that the suspect, 30-year-old Alton Alexander Nolen, had recently converted to Islam to become a Muslim. Coworkers said he had been trying to convert them to Islam, as well. […]

When officers arrived at the scene, police said they found two victims, 54-year-old Colleen Hufford and 43-year-old Tracy Johnson. Hufford was beheaded, and Johnson was suffering from multiple knife wounds.

According to police, Nolen, the suspect, had already been shot by off-duty reserve deputy Mark Vaughan when officers arrived. Vaughan is the Chief Operating Officer of Vaughan Foods.

Both Johnson and Nolen were transported to the hospital. They are said to be in stable condition.

During a news conference Friday morning, Sgt. Lewis said Nolen was a production line employee at the business and was recently terminated. After being terminated, Nolen reportedly went to the parking lot and drove his vehicle to the front of the business, where he hit another car. He then walked into the front office and began attacking Hufford and Johnson.

Nolen reportedly beheaded Hufford, and was still assaulting Johnson when deputy Mark Vaughan fired shots at him. Sgt. Lewis hailed Deputy Vaughan as a hero for saving Johnson’s life and ending the threat.

Posted, of course, right after I put my speculation on Sudden Jihad Syndrome regarding the Chicago ATC fire in the previous post.

Undoubtedly, there will be a call to ban firearms.

  3. DarthLevin says:

Reports are saying also that the guy was fired or suspended or something. I’m in a death-defyingly optimistic mood today and therefore wavering between “domestic terrorist” and “crazy whackjob goes crazy and goes on crazy wish-fulfillment fantasy killfest”. Which one it is makes no difference, of course, to the poor woman that was killed or her family. I think ISIS’s little pronouncement asking for “individual acts of jihad” was going to resonate with crazy whackjobs anyway and provide that little extra oomph over the edge.

Anyway, I’m dragging my wife to the gun shop today to pick out her new carry piece and sign her up for the CCW classes. Not taking no for an answer this time either.

Let me know when chain-mail collars become a thing.

  6. sdferr says:

    . . . and was recently terminated.

Speculatively — for the moment — we might allow for the possibility that the guy was fired because he was proselytizing on the job-site. Now we don’t know this, but it would link the two apparently distinct elements were it so.

  7. RI Red says:

I think my daily carry caliber just changed.

  8. McGehee says:

The last olive-skinned foreign-accented convenience-store clerk I did business with made a point of telling everyone about traveling to visit his relatives in India, and how he was so glad to come home to America afterward.

I wasn’t sure if it was a “thing” at the time, but it could become one.

  9. happyfeet says:

    um

if this really happened wouldn’t National Soros Radio have a story on it by now?

  10. sdferr says:

At The Hill we can see a headline that states that the “strikes” on ISIS come with an average frequency of 5 per day. This is the ‘fierce urgency of now’ in action.

NPR must gasp at such ferocity.

  11. geoffb says:

So much “workplace violence” going around. There must be a vaccine for that you’d think.

Man Accused Of Oklahoma Beheading Has Muslim Greeting Tattooed On Abdomen

  13. geoffb says:

Nolen has a tattoo on his abdomen reading “AS-SALAAMU ATAIKUM,” according to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records. The Arabic message, essentially meaning “peace be upon you,” is used as a greeting by Muslims.

    […]

Nolen was last released from prison in March 2013, so he has had the tattoo longer than some news reports, which said that he only recently converted to Islam, would suggest. Nolen served slightly less than two years for a conviction on a drug charge.

    So, prison conversion then.

  14. bgbear says:

I’ll never think that Jehovah Witnesses proselytizing is annoying again.

  15. serr8d says:

    So, prison conversion then.

There’s the hook that’ll be used to absolve Islam and the majority of “peaceful” Muslims from any blame or connectives: “he wasn’t yet fulfilled with the Peace of the Prophet, peas be upon him”, or some such throwaway jargon.

Bottom line is, Nolen absorbed enough of that easily-weaponized “religion” to pander for it, and in the end, to kill for it.

It’s past time to reform Islam, forcefully if need be.

  16. serr8d says:

    Heh, bgbear. #COTD

  17. bgbear says:

thanks, clever maybe but, little insensitive of me.

I hope Miss Johnson pulls through.

  18. geoffb says:

For logic-minded Americans still genuinely puzzled as to how it could be that our presidents and secretaries of state and generals and pundits keep hammering home the big lie that Islam has nothing to do with jihad, that the religion of conquest is a “religion of peace,” I have a special warning. Such widespread, politics- and mass-media-driven brainwashing is nothing new.

  19. dicentra says:

Wahhabism provides divine permission to unleash your inner psychopath.

I don’t see how that’s anything but evil.

  20. bgbear says:

When they say most Muslims are peaceful, they seem to be relying heavily on all the nice people in south-east Asia as examples.

    Well, they are exemplars.

  22. sdferr says:

Just akin to Molotov-Ribbentrop, the United States allies with invisible Iran today at the discretion of the Commander-in-Chief, all across the Middle East. But on principle, or out of prudence, we ought not mention this. We ought not even see it. Hence the silence.

  23. happyfeet says:

there’s lots of muslims there’s quite a variety really

  24. Spiny Norman says:

An off-duty officer who was working at the business shot the suspect.

Bullshit. The owner of the company (COO for pedants) , who happens to be a Sheriff’s reservist, shot the bastard.

(See? The Media argument is that there is still no reason for civilians to have guns, since civilians never do any good with them.)

  25. dicentra says:

Any time you’ve got a default religion in an area, the quality of the adherents is going to vary in the typical bell curve: a few on each end are either WAY into it or WAY not, meaning that most are “moderate” (mediocre) in their dedication.

This means jack squat in the current situation.

The jihadis can easily make the case that they — martyrs, warriors, stoics, fanatics — are the REAL Muslims whereas the “moderate” ones are slackers.

In fact, they can make the case using perfectly valid exegetical methods for the Quran and Hadith, thereby rendering our beloved “moderate” Muslims as impious, not reasonable.

As if “reasonable” were a standard the jihadis are willing to accept from our hand. As if they gave a rip whether the West valued moderate Islam but not the infinitely more dedicated ones.

If the West says, “Hey, we’re down with your religion as long as you’re not into it too much,” they’re not going to take that as an insult? They’re not going to see that as enmity toward Islam?

Even the “moderate” ones will not take kindly to that. “We dig your kind of Muslim because you’re slackers”???

Yeah. That’s the way to win hearts and minds. “As long as you don’t love your mother too much, you’re OK with us.”

  26. McGehee says:

The jihadis can easily make the case that they — martyrs, warriors, stoics, fanatics — are the REAL Muslims whereas the “moderate” ones are slackers.

Which is in fact the very claim Daesh/ISIS/ISIL make — which is what’s made the Muslims who only want to behead non-Muslims fight them.

So what have we learned? For instance, what sort of weapon did the defender use? One early article said he shot a rifle, another said he “drew a weapon he wore” — neither specified caliber or type. Journalism is such shit nowadays.

Obviously it was an ineffective caliber (less than .40, and yes that means silly 9mm or 380 ACP rounds), or he was using ammo purchased at Wal-Mart in a bulk box labeled “Target Loads” (about all you can find anymore). Recall that crazy shooter in Tucson? He had 9mm target loads, shot that poor woman in the head. She lived, thankfully, but the lesson is, 9mm target loads are for shit.

  44. sdferr says:

Subsequent to posing the question serr8d, I happened to catch an interview with Vaughn’s Co. Sheriff boss who said Vaughn went to his car, got his Co. supplied vest and his carbine, which apparently he used to take down the murderer. So, probably some AR variant, but I haven’t any confirmation or detail on that.

  45. serr8d says:

He wasted a lot of time getting a vest and a carbine. But I suppose the deed was done already.

Oh, and 5.56×45 NATO was verboten for harvesting deer until just very recently here in TN, because .22 caliber rounds were (are) inadequate for bringing down even medium-sized game. It’s just not fair to the animal, to put that teeny tiny hole in it, and hope it bleeds to death before it crosses the county line.

  46. mojo says:

Mr. Vaughn: two in the chest, one in the head. Just sayin’…

  47. leigh says:

Hi! I’m fine and I live up in the North East corner of OK. One of my girlfriends from about 30 years ago lives in Moore and is the same age as the woman who was killed. It was a relief to find out it wasn’t her.
