What is the difference between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism? [Darleen Click]

Nothing.

Less than a week ago we wrote about how The anti-Semitic shame of Malmö, Sweden continues with attack on Rabbi.

It’s part of an outburst of open, unabashed anti-Semitism throughout Europe and the world, but particularly Europe, under the mask of opposition to Israel’s Gaza war.

This trend did not start with the Gaza war. We covered almost exactly a year ago how many parts of Europe were becoming unlivable for Jews due mostly to anti-Semitic violence from Muslim communities, tolerated and egged on by anti-Zionist leftists, Jews in Europe past their expiration date. […]

Annika Hernroth-Rothstein, a Swedish Jewish writer and political commentator, writes in The Jerusalem Post about how Sweden has become unlivable for Jews, so she is leaving for Israel permanently, Hold on, I’m coming home:

My friend tells me that Sweden ever so quickly has gone from so-called anti-Zionism to open anti-Semitism, and that no one seems to care.

“Don’t come back.”

That’s what he said to me; “Don’t come back here, you have no idea how bad it has become since you left.”

Pay no heed to Islamofascist-lets-kill-all-Jews Hamas spending all that “humanitarian aid” on rockets and tunnels, Progressives feel that stopping genocide against Christians and Jews is just about EVIL OIL!!1!!1!

A more interesting question, possibly, is what’s the difference (and there is a difference, most particularly) between Jew-hate and antisemitism, which latter was created to conceal the former, which by that time had become otherwise inexplicable. Isn’t it also interesting that in many ways, antisemitism — as a term — both succeeds at this as well as fails?

And the sides are being clearly chosen.
Israel is one of – maybe our most- steadfast and reliable allies. They stand against pure evil.
Perhaps it may be considered somewhat simplistic, but I consider those who agree with if not out and out participate in attacks here and around the world against Jews, and those who stand against Israel, to be anti American as well.

  3. gahrie says:

First of all, I know that there is a difference between anti-semetism and anti-Zionism. When I was growing up, I was an anti-Zionist, and was very pro-Palestinian. However my solution was for the Jews to come live with us in the United States and to make Jerusalem an international city.

I have since become very pro- Israeli, and a firm believer in the two state solution. I will point out the fact that during all of this conflict in Gaza, the West Bank has been quiet for the most part. If we can finally convince all the Palestinian people to reject terrorism, peace may be possible.

  4. gahrie says:

I should also note that I also believe however that most of the anti-Zionism and outrage at Israel is indeed a thin cover for real anti-semetism, especially in Europe, and even more so in the European Muslim enclaves.

One should also note the attacks against Christians and Christianity around the world today.

Western civilization is being attacked, and we need to wake up and defend ourselves, from the nemeies without and within.

  5. sdferr says:

    “. . . to reject terrorism . . .”

Warring on Israel needn’t be terrorism as such, and it is warring on Israel which has been the underlying premise of the Arabs from before Israel’s creation.

    What’s the deal with that?

The deal is a question of religious dominance, it seems. So the Arabs of Gaza could stop using nominal terror tactics yet continue to hold a view requiring them to make war on Israel just as before. Peace defined as the mere absence of warring wouldn’t come along until the attitude necessitating warring on Israel should itself cease to be. But what would necessitate that change of stance? Something to do with the source of the need for religious domination, perhaps? What in turn would bring this about?

“When the Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jew, there will be peace.”

The Arabs HAD their chance at a two-state solution, but the so-called Palestinians were too radical for the Transjordan monarchy, and got kicked to the curb, and have been useful idiots on the world stage ever since. Why do you suppose that NONE of the 50+ Muslim nations in the region have bothered to accept any of those refugees in the decades since?

ThePalistinians train and indoctrinate their children at a very young age. There will be no convincing them of anything.
    At least for another generation.

They have been at war with the Jews since before Mohammed invented the political system known as Islam.

Since they have little wealth, it must be because the Jews are taking it all. They cannot conceive of the notion that they are failures at creating wealth.

I think their hatred of Jews is all they have.

Remember a few years back when the Israelis sent a greenhouse or something worth millions of dollars to the Palis that would create jobs and produce a lot of food?
Their response was to destroy it while screaming ‘death to the jews’. The Palestinian ‘police’ charged with it’s security joined in the vandalism.
There is no ‘dealing’ with such people- and I use the term ‘people’ loosely.
I liken them to a pack of wild, rabid dogs. Would you let a pack of wild, rabid dogs run loose through your neighborhoods?
Why do people expect the Israelis to do so?

That was a series of a few thousand greenhouses in Gaza, which produced more than $200 million/yr in flowers and produce (sold to Europe). The Palis had great fun destroying them, and I imagine quite a few are wondering “Why are we always so hungry?” these days, and blaming it on the blockade.

Zionism means survival to Israelis and a promise of refuge to every Jew alive on the planet. And no, There’s no difference between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism AFAIC. Those who try to weasel a difference between the two hateful postures aren’t successfully fooling anyone.

The same sort who, after 1776 and the rise of our Republic, were the minority of citizens who resented that our ascendancy ever happened, and wish that the continent would have remained unspoiled and native.

We know them very well indeed. They are those who’ve become far-Left, of the Lost Tribe of Perpetual Parasites.

Holland’s queen Beatrice was criticized by the Dutch right for wearing a head scarf on a visit to a UAE mosque, and admittedly she did look a bit like Queen of Tarts. Eh, my own mum wore scarves but that is in the U.S. of America and for reasons of hair management. But even the Holland orchestra will not brook Islamic proselytization during a concert that supporters of the ARTS! paid to see and troubled to get themselves up to hear and with the queen in attendance. Beginning typically with Muslim victimization™, “We tried to contact you personally but we were ignored.” That should have been their first hint, Dumbass.
