I remember sharing “Eat It” with my friends in 4th grade. I’m not sure anybody would have guessed that Weird Al would still be around 30 years later. And not just clinging to the edge of relevancy, either — the guy just keeps killing it!
FWIW, he’s got 8 videos for his new album (released yesterday), which he’s going to be releasing one per day. So it should be a fun week, with some cool animation.
Also from the new album, Tacky, a parody of Happy by Pharrell Williams (a cool song I’d never heard before).
Here’s #3: Foil – a parody of “Royals” by Lordes. (Damn these kids with their songs and artists I’ve never heard of. And the hula-hoops.)
Think ‘Tacky’ is the best/catchiest song of the 3, but I love the animation for ‘Word Crimes’. Not to mention that it’s about time someone with the bully pulpit of a Weird Al finally takes on the “I could care less” idiots.
(Though I wish he’d have taken a harder line against the demise of the Oxford comma. Still, there’s only so much a single pop song can do!)
That was cool.

Good grief — on second viewing, there are a bunch of very clever little details tucked into the video. Hat-tip to the animator.
He’s a scream. So clever.
Way kewl and bitchin, ain’t it!!!

John
I saw “Tacky” the other day. Very clever. Love this one even more.

You can have my Oxford Comma when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
The album cover has a Firesign Theater vibe.
Probably fit in well in the Carney family decor.
“I’d like to thank my parents, Ayn Rand and God.”
The Oxford Comma is NOT optional!
You are a young man, squid.
I first heard weird Al on the Dr. Demento show doing “My Bologna” and “Another One Rides the Bus” solo on his accordian.
