#IWonPenPhone unable to dispel reports of His incentivizing illegal migration; pivots to Blame Bush™ [Darleen Click]

Even the Left Angeles Times is having a hard time spinning this

President Obama and his aides have repeatedly sought to dispel the rumors driving thousands of children and teens from Central America to cross the U.S. border each month with the expectation they will be given a permiso and allowed to stay.

But under the Obama administration, those reports have proved increasingly true.

The number of immigrants under 18 who were deported or turned away at ports of entry fell from 8,143 in 2008, the last year of the George W. Bush administration, to 1,669 last year, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement data released under a Freedom of Information Act request. […]

Obama administration officials deny that lenient policies — including a 2012 program that allowed immigrants who had entered the country illegally as minors before June 2007 to apply for deportation deferrals — have encouraged the sudden surge.

They instead blame a 2008 law signed by Bush that made it nearly impossible to repatriate unaccompanied minors to Central America without letting them appear before an immigration judge

deportationchart

Organized crime groups in Central America have exploited the slow U.S. legal process and the compassion shown to children in apparent crisis, according to David Leopold, an immigration attorney in Cleveland.

He said smugglers, who may charge a family up to $12,000 to deliver a child to the border, often tell them exactly what to say to American officials.

“The cartels have figured out where the hole is,” he said. […]

Obama last week asked Congress to change the 2008 law to give the head of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, greater discretion to send children back to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras more quickly.

But Obama is likely to face stiff opposition from fellow Democrats, who have vowed to block narrow changes to immigration laws.

Democrats just hate to waste a crisis, especially one they worked so hard to create.

Jeremy Oliver, a conservative activist from Temecula, was on the phone with Breitbart correspondents as I arrived near the police stronghold out front. I spoke with him for a few minutes. He told me that tomorrow could see a major confrontation on the ground. Word is that federal marshals and riot police will be on hand to guarantee the shipment of additional aliens from the San Ysidro station. It’s a tinderbox waiting to explode.

What protesters need do is non-confrontational, sit-in protests. Make the Feds look bad.

  1. One of the perpetual tactics used by Samuel* Adams was to make the British look bad as often as possible.

Worked well for Gandhi, too. Seems to work well against Boehner, given that he isn’t doing anything for fear of being portrayed in a bad light by the media. Wouldn’t have worked at all if tried against either the Nazis or the Soviets, who didn’t mind disappearing whole megapersons.

…or the Soviets, who didn’t mind disappearing whole megapersons.

Which is exactly why there is an ethnic-Russian majority in eastern Ukraine.

You want to keep these illegals out? Make it a misdemeanor to kill anyone not here legally, with the cops and ICE not even bothering to answer reports of gunshots within 5 miles of the border.

The feds will show up with overwhelming force and you can bet they will have plenty of people more than ready to shoot.

The protestors MUST take a page from MLK.

Sit DOWN, go LIMP, DO NOT confront, DO NOT resist

Then everyone have video going LIVE STREAM.

video tape EVERYONE so if such a provocateur attempts shit, someone else will expose them.

  17. Drumwaster says:

The problem I have is that they are looking for that fight with American citizens who merely exercising their First Amendment rights (speech; peaceably assemble; petition the government for a redress of grievances) and want them to be doing the job they are collecting a paycheck to do, rather than the illegals who are violating the laws the instant they set foot on US soil.

  18. happyfeet says:

i hope the protestors do whatever it takes to make it clear to one and all that the cocksucking american government has a very big problem on its fascist little hands

  19. Blake says:

Waco and Ruby Ridge should be stark reminders that it doesn’t matter how peaceful you are; if government decides it needs a show of force, dead citizens are merely the broken eggs.

And and ah, ah, an and I’m glad uh, that after five years, uh, I’m, I’m still here, able to do it.

Now, hand me my nine iron, George.****

  22. geoffb says:

hey instead blame a 2008 law signed by Bush that made it nearly impossible to repatriate unaccompanied minors to Central America without letting them appear before an immigration judge.

HR7311 – William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 – Wait, that makes this a lame duck signing right before leaving office….. and who was in control of both Houses of Congress – who would have constructed such a bill ?

Hmmmm… perhaps, maybe, per chance… Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid in the Senate with… wait for it,… a filibuster proof super-majority.

And when was the bill HR7311 voted and passed by the Democrats in congress…. wait for it… Brought to floor on December 9th 2008 and voted upon on December 10th 2008. After the previous month’s election that President Elect Barack Obama won. And as the Democrats knew they now held the House of Reps (Pelosi), the Senate (Reid) and the White House (Obama)….. Boy they moved fast on that one !

But wait, it gets even better….

…. what was this mysterious HR7311 that George Bush is getting the blame for ?

Why, it’s a “reauthorization bill” no less. Wait, huh, reauthorized? But reauthorized from when, you might ask?

Why, it was from,…. wait for it….
…HR7311 – To authorize appropriations for fiscal years 2008 through 2011 for the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, to enhance measures to combat trafficking in persons, and for other purposes. (link)

But wait, it gets even better….

Enacted and signed in 2008…. That expired when?

    Oh yeah, 2011.

    Wait, wha… huh ?

And when did the UAC (“unaccompanied alien children”) explosion on the border begin ? Oh yeah, 2012 with the introduction of the Deferred Action Program (DOCA) after the expiration of 2008?s William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 !

    Wait, wha… huh?

    Yup.

Following the November 2008 election of Barack Obama. The Democrats created a bill on December 9th 2008, that they voted for on December 10th, that Bush signed for them on December 23rd (as he left office)….. that expired in 2011 and was replaced by President Obama’s DOCA Deferred Action Executive Orders…. but in 2014 what do they do?

  23. guinspen says:

****DD: And third, we have to deal with these children. It was the Homeland Security Act, signed by President George W, Bush, which says, “We treat these children humanely.” Which means we view the compassionate responsibility of the United States for these kids as they’re processed back to where they came from. They have no legal status here in the United States.

Now, let me see the second point. I am really getting fed up with some of the critics of this administration, particularly from House Republicans. They had the opportunity for one solid year to call the immigration reform bill, and yet they refused to. And now they’re arguing we need more enforcement at the borders and a lot of other things? When are they going to accept their responsibility to govern, to call this bi-partisan bill for consideration?

BS: Thank you, Senator. I’ll be ’round to mow your lawn this afternoon.****

The opinion of “Cleveland immigration lawyers” aside. How are these people, who will put their own minor children in great peril to reach the US, coming up with twelve thousand dollars? Has any network, cable news station, print publication, sent actual reporters down to central America to ascertain exactly who told these people to send their children to the US. Is it “organized crime”, lawyers, religious organizations, or even someone in the US Embassy. It would be nice to think the media was even the slightest bit curious as to who is convincing parents to put their children in danger.

If there is no LSM presence and no organizational resistance then the likelihood of exposing paid undercover .gov agents as illegitimate provocateurs is quite slim… disappearing down memory hole slim. There’s nothing to prevent everyone being bagged and tagged and smart phones break so easily under riot batons. I will be truly surprised if the Federales are made to look bad in Murrieta.

  29. bgbear says:

Why bi-partisanship is a bad idea: when things go bad, they blame the Republicans.

  30. BigBangHunter says:

    – The WH is saying that most of the “children” will be sent home. (The definition of “home” can be tricky.)

    – And so it begins : “Death by a thousand cuts” or in Bumblefucks case, simply reporting the actual facts instead of the Progressive talking points.

    – In this case Hildebeast is trying so hard to ease into it that she wins the understatement award right out of the gate, but then again shes just getting started.

    – This could get really ugly. Everyone knows shes Uber pissed over the way she was shoved aside for Waffle ears in 2008, but even worse is hes secretly refused to endorse her. The Clintonesta’s are out for blood at this point, but she doesn’t have enough of the hive support to make it work. If this turns into all-out war between the two camps the GOP could run a ham sandwich and win in 2016.

I’ve been looking at some of the comments regarding the immigration crisis and the “allow any and all crowd” cannot be persuaded, except that they think the people protesting against the invasion should be rounded up and thrown in jail.

Although, it is amusing to see some of the dingbats go crazy when someone suggests the dingbat progressives volunteer to take in some of the illegals.

    They’re war-gaming another revolution over at Insty’s.

Way too many people think we live in the same country they grew up in. Way too many don’t understand the difference between cutting an umbilicus and effecting purges. Way too many overestimate how many would actually be on our side (and be useful wielding arms) and how corrupt the police and military are becoming (by design).

The French and Russian revolutions show what happens when the people on the bottom try to purge the corrupt ruling class: terror and oppression beyond what they had before.

    Loan sharks.

    With all the attendant hazards.

  36. Di wrote: …how corrupt the police and military are becoming (by design).

It just occurred to me that the Left In America has been doing what the Mensheviks and Bolsheviks did during World War I. They have been systematically undermining law enforcement and the military from within – using different methods, however.

In regards to the Military: the Left has corrupted the Officers, especially the General Officers. They probably are smart enough to know that they cannot infect the NCOs.

In Law Enforcement, the Left has been corrupting the Chiefs, but, also, luring the uniform cops [including real cool with real cool ‘toys’].

Whether the above theory is a good one, I think most of us can agree that it would be wise to plan our defense without relying on either group to support us. If some do, well, that’s gravy.

    Ustream.

  38. bh says:

How are these people, who will put their own minor children in great peril to reach the US, coming up with twelve thousand dollars?

    Loan sharks.

Probably not. Not doubting that loans, a high vig, and scary collateral terms are involved but consider the relative outcome of this bet versus others if you had enough capital to consider your various nefarious options.

We have to be talking about something more like two grand or something in that range unless it involves harvesting half of them into mules or prostitutes.

  39. smmtheory says:

Ustream works without cell phone signal Darleen? I don’t think so. See, I believe that if the Federales are really planning something like cracking heads as indicated, then they are probably going to have a court order on hand to turn off the cell towers in the area. Perhaps I’m just too much a cynic, but that’s the way I see it. Of course, if the Federales have the street blocked off from side streets disallowing traffic, then the only way for protesters to get to a position to have a sit-in on the path of the buses is to cross police lines. And crossing police lines isn’t exactly considered peaceful sit-in protesting. The Federales will then unfortunately look justified for cracking heads, at least in a court of law.

  40. Drumwaster says:

And crossing police lines isn’t exactly considered peaceful sit-in protesting.

This is why I think they ought to put that yellow police tape up along the border. Maybe then the police will worry about arresting those who are actually breaking the law! Good thing those police tapes can set aside the Constitution, too, else someone might wonder why the First Amendment only works on one side of them and not the other…

If the Feds take down the cell towers in the area, you think no one will notice??

  43. Drumwaster says:

Or that they might have hard-wired phone lines to report that cessation of service over the internet? It might be in the “hinterlands” as far as SoCal is considered, but it is on the I-15 (the main inland freeway northbound from San Diego to/through the Inland Empire, onwards to Las Vegas and points north — running roughly 140-180k vehicles daily, quite a few of whom would be chatting, the laws against same notwithstanding, given that it is a boring stretch of concrete). And there WILL be television coverage from the LA stations, and they all have their own satellite uplink trucks, which do not rely on cell phone towers.

Such an event would not go unnoticed or unremarked.

  44. smmtheory says:

Yeah, about that television coverage from LA stations… you think they won’t spin it to avoid making the Federales look bad? I mean most of you here would know how it went down, but your average couch potato?
