No one is entitled to have a television program … [Darleen Click]

.. but since when does the private religious beliefs of business owners become a litmus test for business?

First they lost their television show. Now the Benham brothers say they are losing their business.

SunTrust Banks is cutting ties with would-be reality stars David and Jason Benham after liberal activists attacked them for their conservative views on abortion and gay marriage, The Daily Caller has learned.

In a statement provided first to TheDC on Friday, the Benham brothers confirmed that SunTrust Banks has pulled all of its listed properties with the Benham brothers’ bank-owned property business, which includes several franchisees across four states. […]

“We were caught off-guard with this one,” David Benham said of SunTrust’s actions. “Keeping us off television wasn’t enough, now this agenda to silence wants us out of the marketplace.”

The Benhams, in their statement, said the news came “without warning or explanation from SunTrust and took place over a 15 minute period” on Thursday. The Brothers said they have had a “mutually productive working relationship with SunTrust for many years” and hold a ”preferred broker” status with the bank.

The brothers said they contacted SunTrust, but bank employees declined to explain the reasoning for what happened.

In their statement, the Benhams said they “recognize SunTrust’s right to hire or fire any real estate broker they choose but do not support the decision” to fire independent franchisees that are associated with them. Many of these franchisees, they said, “do not hold the same beliefs” they do.

“As Americans we find ourselves at a crossroads and are forced with a decision to either stand up or sit down,” David Benham said. “Evidently, SunTrust’s longstanding commitment to diversity must not include our historic Christian values.”

One such franchisee is Joel Morimanno of Benham Real Estate of SW Florida.

“I believe SunTrust has requested a blanket reassignment of all Benham Brother listings across the nation because of their Christian beliefs,” Morimanno said in a statement to TheDC.

“The success of my business is based on my performance,” he said. “I work hard to maintain a Preferred Status with all my clients. It appears that SunTrust simply reassigned the listing based on other external factors.”

This is no longer mere McCarthyism, but the Left’s version of Sharia.

Well, to be fair, Sharia is at least somewhat consistent. Leftist mentality has no such restrictions.

The pendulum is being pushed way beyond the limits of equilibrium. The backlash will be not merely restorative, but downright destructive…

  2. Neo says:

There is no truth to the rumor about there being a run on SunTrust.

the obamaslut fascists at america’s piece of shit department of “justice” have been telling banks they can’t do business with porn stars too

I’m waiting for a bank to tell Holder they’re calling in all of his debts.

First they came for the Evangelicals . . .

Fuuny thing is, there is an actual, real live Establishment of Religion over in England that has done less damage to the free exercise of religion in the last 60 years than our own Supreme Court.

I’ve given up trying to persuade any of the dipshits who love to lambaste the religious on other sites that their POV isn’t very American.

  8. Physics Geek says:

I used to be a programmer/analyst for that bank. I cannot fucking believe that they’ve done this.

  9. DarthLevin says:

Word is out that Sun Trust has reversed their position.

  10. Ernst Schreiber says:

No one’s entitled to have an account with a bank either.

Or, more to the point in this case, no bank is entitled to host your account.

For a bank headquartered in the bible belt, telling traditional christians that you don’t want their business seems like a bad decision.

  11. DarthLevin says:

    Yep. Decision reversed.

The bank didn’t go into detail about why they originally cut ties with the Benham brothers, though said the decision was made by a third party vendor. TheDC reported earlier Friday that the vendor had told a Benham Brothers franchisee that the bank itself made the decision.

“We clarified our policies with our vendor and they have reinstated the listings with Benham Real Estate,” SunTrust spokeswoman Beth McKenna said.

“Mid-2013, we consolidated the management of certain residential assets with a third party vendor, which has the relationship with Benham Real Estate,” McKenna added. “While we do not publicly comment on specific vendor relationships, we don’t make choices on suppliers nor base business decisions on political factors, nor do we direct our third party vendors to do so.”

I have heard it said the the root of the Torah is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. … That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn.”

Jesus agrees with this. “Do to others what you want them to do to you. This is the meaning of the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets”

The root of the Koran has been reduced to a single declaration of a central article of faith, the recitation of which is the ceremony for coverting to Islam. However, the operational core of the Koran and Sharia seems to be something like ” Vae Victus! Only, try not to dance around in anybody’s fresh flayed shin or anything or eat babies. Certainly never in public. ” It is mostly a code for dividing everything between conqueror and conquered much in favor of the presumed conqueror.
