CA Gov Jerry Brown on “old people” [Darleen Click]

Moonbeam, 76, obsessed with 19th century technology

“There’s a lot of old people who shouldn’t be driving. They should be sitting in a nice train car working on their iPad, having a martini.”

Old people who actually don’t have any where to go may be the only people on the not-so-high-speed train to nowhere.

With a government taxpayer subsidy, of course.

And a choo-choo from Sacramento/SF to San Diego is going to change that how? It is not a local “paratransit” or “dial a ride” service, which do serve the elders.

    What a joke!

  2. McGehee says:

I don’t know a whole lot of old people who would want to take an iPad on a public transit train, and don’t most public transit operations prohibit alcohol?

  3. leigh says:

Amtrak served booze years ago when I used to ride it quite a bit. It was the only thing that made it tolerable.

  4. Curmudgeon says:

They still do, when I last rode it. And this was the Capitol Corridor, not a long distance train with sleeper cars.

  5. leigh says:

I used to ride it from San Diego to Santa Barbara to visit my folks. The line went from Phoenix to Seattle, but I never rode it that far.

  6. McGehee says:

Maybe I’m thinking of public transit options most old people who would actually ride public transit can actually afford…

  7. Slartibartfast says:

Jerry Brown just wants you to die quickly and quietly.

Ah, but that is where the subsidies, filched from your pocketbook, come in. :-(

Amtrak’s current service runs from San Diego to Vancouver (via Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Oakland, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle), although no through trains run between the two end points.

Phoenix was on the route between New Orleans and Los Angeles until 1996. Service currently runs through Tucson (via San Antonio and El Paso).

For those of you keeping score at home.

And I’ll stick to my roadster built for two, by cracky.

Old people wouldn’t know an iPad from a maxi pad.

    Sheez.

    – Moonbeam is proof that there are a lot of very old geezer Libturds walking around who should be in communal assisted living camps.

  12. guinspen says:

But we do know from Kookie’s Mad Pad, by cracky.

Old people will be moving out of California in droves soon.

There is a certain “old people” who shouldn’t be trying to run the lives of people in his state.
