Life imitates Cindy Sheehan / Billy Jack conversations, 1

In a Kos comments thread on her speech today in DC, Cindy Sheehan shows up to complain that she’s being pushed out of the news cycle by Hurricane Rita coverage:

rita (4.00 / 2)

i am watching cnn and it is 100 percent rita…even though it is a little wind and a little rain…it is bad, but there are other things going on in this country today…and in the world!!!!

by CindySheehan on Sat Sep 24th, 2005 at 06:29:15 PDT

Compare Cindy’s comments tonight to this conversation she had with Billy Jack on September 6.

Man.  It’s getting harder and harder to parody these people by the hour

Parody?!? What’s this “parody” you’re talking about? I come to this website for serious information, especially that coming from otherwise disenfranchised populations (inanimate objects, armadillos, etc.).

Well, that and the Martha Stewart thing.

Ok, well there’s other stuff, too. But the serious information is IMPORTANT.

  2. TerryH says:

Could it be that Jeff has mastered the art of Rovian mind control rays?

  3. CraigC says:

They’re long past the point of parody, Jeff.  Not that your attempts aren’t amusing…

SW, “analysis.” And there you have it.

  4. Attila Girl says:

I was going to ask whether anyone had verified that it was, indeed, her–but then I re-read the comment and it had that sort of breathless, hysterical, myopic aura to it.

and somehow that i’m ee cummings and in a hurry and i can’t be bothered with capital letters or punctuation tone…sounded authentic!!!

Jeff, the t/w is “larger.” Can you explain this, please? I’m sick and tired of you blogging relentlessly about COCK!

  5. The_Real_JeffS says:

Heh!  Cindy ”I’m right here, MEDIA!” Sheehan is called on her BS by a resident of southeast Texas.  And a very good job is that call!

And if you want see just what Mommy Cindy’s priorities really are in this “campaign” of hers, check out these photos of her.

  6. bridge_to_tomorrow says:

OMG check out those pics The_Real_JeffS posted.

What a sick puppy Sheehan is.

I’m in SE Texas and the hurricane has wiped out a huge swath of the state, not to mention that it squarely smacked the largest oil refinery concentration in the US. But hey, I suppose she’s right, the entire world should have been watching Cindy Me! Me! Me! Sheehan instead.

    How silly of us.

  7. alppuccino says:

    Thank you Real Jeffs.

I woke up this morning and relaxed in my safe home.  Content with the beautiful weather, I was ready for a relaxing day of pure happiness.  I was ingnoring the hurricane converage because nothing was going to spoil my mood.

But when I saw your stirring photos of “a grieving mother who lost her son in Iraq” I paused.

Her grief-stricken grief gave me grief.  I grieve for her – perhaps even more than she grieves for herself.  I mean good grief!  How dare I enjoy life when I have not lost a son in Iraq.  It is grievous.

I fear that America has become complacent it her grief and needs only to look at “a grieving mother who lost a son in Iraq” to jar her back to reality.

Look at these pictures America!!  Behold grief in it’s purest form – hammered and folded by the blacksmith of sorrow – until it gleams with the sharp edge of dispair.

    HOW DO YOU SLEEP?!

That’s Cindy alright, over at DailyKos.  She was commenting in her own ”Diary”.

  9. Lew Clark says:

Well I just got off the phone with Rick Perry (Texas Governor).  I called to rip into him for wasting millions evacuating people from a mild drizzle and slight breeze (according to Cindy Sheehan, the only voice of truth in America), when he could have used those resources to bus protestors to the, much more important, Momma Cindy Anti-war Protest.

Rick was understanding, but explained that these are Texans and most are armed.  Do we really want to surround the “National Mother” with a group of really pissed off, armed Texans, seeing as how it was hard enough to restrain them from beating the crap out of her at Crawford, and that was in better times.  My actual feelings was, “why yes I do want her surrounded by an armed mob”, but I went pc and agreed that he probably did the right thing.

    Those pictures are a hoot!

Bring the wife and kid down to ImpeachBush Gardens this weekend, fun and games for the whole family.

At noon eastern time today on c-span is the pro America Rally by Move America Forward But you would not know this bt reading any of the blogs. The blogs on the right seem to be doing a very good job of ignoring Melanie Morgan and making sure no one hears of her efforts to support the troops. But the blogs on the right are doing an excellent job of covering the Anti American protests

Kind of off topic, but I found this link at Harry’s Place.  Talk about impossible to satire:

  13. B Moe says:

Damn, it didn’t link all the way there.  Check the “Terrorists making fun of Dear Leader” thread.

    Sorry.

  14. Cardinals Nation says:

Hey, folks…take a look at Cindy’s little Kos diatribe again.  She’s getting ripped by her own kind.

Not a smart woman by any stretch of the imagination.

I love it when libs get into kung-fu stances and go all crazy on one another.

    Popcorn?

  15. John Cole says:

How dare you speak ill of Mother Sheehan?

    Blasphemy.

  16. Jason says:

    WOW.

I think everyone knew she was a media whore, but man, that is just too perfect.

The followup comments are great as well.

  17. alppuccino says:

Are there any pictures of Sheehan doing lines with Marion Barry?

  18. Salt Lick says:

With regard to the photos of Jesse and Cindy, I think these two understand each other completely.

    From Slate:

Over the years, Jesse Jackson has got a lot of mileage out of remembering the blood of Martin Luther King Jr. that smeared his shirt when he cradled the dying leader in his arms. Testimony from other witnesses indicates that Jackson was initially reluctant to go to the balcony where King was shot, though he might later have been close enough to King’s body to acquire some stains from the pool of blood on the floor.

Yes, it’s Sunday and I’m going to Hell for posting that.

  19. Sean M. says:

Why does Bush even bother to pay Karl Rove these days?

  20. Goy Girl says:

I am just waiting for the new darling the media picks.  Then I want to see the deposed Cindy and The New Honey in a mudwrestling competition with the winner receiving a reality show on the Fox Network (because they are so fair and balanced).

  21. Moe Lane says:

“Why does Bush even bother to pay Karl Rove these days?”

Sigh.  That’s the penalty of doing your job too well; people start thinking that you’re redundant…

TW: world, as in “The world laughed at you and mocked your theories!  But you’ll show them!  You’ll show them all!”

Whatever you do, do NOT look at this protester pic, and if you DO look, do NOT look too closely:

    yikes!

  24. Lynne says:

I’m confused: is that Billy Jack conversation real or did someone make it up? Is there a direct link to it?

    I’m totally lost here :(

  25. drjohnk says:

“Fucking glorified thunderstorm… This Gulf disaster is all Rove’s doing, Billy.  To take the spotlight off the peace movement.  You realize that, right?”

Sorry for the stupidity but is this really a direct quote?

  26. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Lynne and drjohnk —

No. Not a direct quote. It was me suggesting that CINDY! is so taken with her own celebrity that all the Katrina coverage would probably make her jealous.

At the time, I thought she was thinking it but would never say it.

    Then came Rita…

That’s why it’s getting impossible to do parody any more.

  27. BLT in CO says:

To read the Kos Kidz fisking their own self-made ‘savior’ St. CINDY! The Aggrieved, why, that’s just beyond funny.

And then to read Smash’s account of a San Diego anti-war protest march descending into chaos over similar infighting…

It warms the cockles of the heart to see the fringe left’s unfocused and impotent rage turn in on itself.
