I never know quite how to respond to these kinds of messages. As a partially-disabled (50%) wartime veteran myself, I could legitimately claim at least a little of the right to say “You are welcome”, if it were not for the fact that I knew some of those who gave all, and when I remember their sacrifice, I am shamed by my hubris in even thinking that I had any possible way to improve upon the message they gave with their lives.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter now into the joy of the Lord.”
Even so, I mourn that their sacrifice may have proved for nothing because of the barbarians inside the gates…
FWIW, Drum, Veterans Day is for the ones who made it home. Thank you.
That’s right. Memorial Day is for those who gave all.
