A jolly cheer from the political left! Look, look! A new champion of civil rights arises, and is named after a noble and tender cut of meat. And of course, the grumbling Tea Party finds no-one to praise among the civil rights leaders alive: they love only the dead.

    From the story:

    For media owners:

“What is the news philosophy of the station?”

My response would be: “To exercise our First Amendment Rights. This will be the last answer you get.”

The FCC’s justification is that it has a mandate to ensure overall news environments are adequate for consumers who are at risk of being exposed to too few points of view – a questionable proposition in 2013.

the FCC needs to get a real job

    For media owners:

“What is the news philosophy of the station?”

“We’re a business – therefore, our ‘philosophy’ is to make money. End of discussion…”

  6. sdferr says:

What is your philosophy in a time of the complete discredit of all philosophy? Nah, that’s not a trick question.

  7. The Monster says:

The apologists will say that this does not in any way infringe upon First Amendment rights: “We’re only gathering information.”

But if you’re not going to take any regulatory action in response to the information you’re gathering, then you’re wasting my tax money gathering it. So don’t waste my money.

    Our news philosophy is __FUCK_YOU__.

  9. McGehee says:

“What is the news philosophy of the station?”

That the federal government is prohibited by the First Amendment from asking questions like this.

Squid, I just bought one of those coffee mugs. Thanks for the link.

Incorrect philosophy will result in lefty priest-equivalents being brought in for an exorcism.
