“Feds Studying How to Use Twitter For ‘Depression Surveillance’”

Winston Smith could not be reached for comment.  But if he could, he’s probably be thinking something like, “well, that’s kind of a bummer” — though he wouldn’t dare say it aloud.

As Phil C notes in an email, “I’d say the prospect of this not being an addendum to the gun-grabbers data base are approximately zero.”  True.  But I’ll go him one further:  I think then end game of disarming those who show a “propensity toward depression” is precisely the reason for such a federal study in the first place.

Dissent is patriotic only when progressives work to breach the Constitution; in all other instances, it’s a sign of some or other mental disorder that the government will help you through — either by way of reeducation or, if that doesn’t work, well, Bill Ayers — the man who helped launch the career of our current Manchurian President — had a few ideas.

Not so much that as “propensity toward violence” – specifically, as expressed by the desire to own a firearm in the first place.

Now that the Feds will have access to everyone’s medical files, what could possibly go wrong? Especially with the ACA being administered by the IRS which has a history of using citizen information for political revenge.

  5. Of course, the justification for this will be events like Sandy Hook. They’re doing it “for the children.”

  6. Hey, guys? 1984 was a warning, not an instruction manual.

(Yeah, it’s an old line, bordering on cliche. Doesn’t make it any less apropos.)

Serious question, are there rules about making you go to the doctor’s office? Because I don’t. I’ve been to the optometrist 3 times in the last 15 years, the CVS minute clinic once, and an ob/gyn once (for birth control since I was getting married — WORST DECISION EVER, and I won’t be back. The birth control, not the marriage.).

So, I really don’t have much of a medical history for them to track. What are they going to do about it?

You know what this country really needs? An affordable firearms act.

Yes. The ATF should make themselves useful and issue something analogous to an EBT card.
