Coming up momentarily: House to vote on Senate “compromise” bill

Caucus of Dems and some in GOP will once again give Obama all he wants, is my guess.  And they have to:  because Ted Cruz, as Jen Rubin reminds us this morning by way of a retweet, is probably a Democrat sleeper agent — and the TEA Partiers, the Dems and some GOPers keep reminding us, are “nutty” terrorists who must be purged from the Big Tent.  To, you know, make room for all the moderates who will come running to the GOP and help get President Romney a second term.

It’s “smart” and “sane”.  Not to mention “realistic” and “nuanced.”  Unlike the $17 Trillion in debt and $90 Trillion in unfunded liabilities, which are bold and very very black and white.  Quite unhelpful, even, as a talking point.

And of course, such a deal is also pragmatic.  We were destined to lose from the outset.  So had we just given up then, none of this divisiveness would even be necessary.  QED!

Meghan’s coward daddy is having emotional feelings about all of this…

“It’s obvious that we are now seeing the end of this agonizing odyssey that this body has been put through, but far more importantly, the American people have been put through. It’s one of the more shameful chapters that I have seen in the years that I have spent here in the Senate,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Nice try. You wouldn’t know shameful if it knocked you out of the sky put you in a cage and called you sally.

Maverook doesn’t mention that most of the other “more shameful chapters” featured him in the starring role.

He’s pissed he wasn’t principally responsible for causing this one — but cheer up, Senator; if you hadn’t run for president in 2008 none of this would be happening.

But it was his turn! Didn’t anyone listen? He was next in line, and he deserved the Oval Office, dammit!

I mean, it wasn’t for nothing that he screwed over Bush domestic agenda time and again, going so far as to open negotiations with Democratic Leadership to switch parties. And who could have guessed that the Senate’s only openly-Socialist Senator would have beat him to the punch like that?

oh. This is awesome! McConnell is setting a precedent to make sure this never happens again our whole lives ever so America’s fascist fucktoy president will never have to worry about Canadian Texans using the debt ceiling as leverage.

The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be raised.

That’s the kind of crap that got us into the trouble in the first place. “Spending increases automatically unless 67 Senators and 290 Representatives decide differently”.

The only question now is who has the popcorn and lawn chairs? I want a good seat for the collapse…

  6. I believe the technical term is abdication.

What has the National Republican Senatorial Committee done to help Steve Lonegan’s special election race for the New Jersey senate seat today?

*** The special election to fill New Jersey’s open seat in the United States Senate has caused so much confusion that even the Republican National Committee sent out a Twitter message earlier this week encouraging voters to go to the polls on Tuesday. ***

They love them some conservatives, don’t they?
