The Republican-led House passed a bill Saturday to give thousands of furloughed federal workers back pay when the government reopens, but Democrats promptly characterized it as a signal the GOP doesn’t want the partial shutdown to end.
“Now we’re saying to federal employees: We’re going to pay you when this is all over with,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, said minutes after the 407-to-0 House vote. “But right now, you just stay home … watch TV, play chess, whatever you’re going to do, because we won’t let you work.”
Leave aside that such retroactive pay has been SOP in past shutdowns slimdowns, but I thought allowing people to pursue what they wanted to do as long as the Government picks up the bill was straight out of the Obama/Reid/Pelosi playbook.
We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said, “a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.

And with the moral acuity that our civil servants have demonstrated over the week, I’m pretty sure that there will be no qualms about cashing checks for work not done.

0-98… Not a single Democrat voted for it, either.
Even the Washington Generals had a better record that that…
