Removing the filter

Here are the actual GOP compromise proposals, both of which Harry Reid and Barack Obama have rejected — and both of which the media have eschewed reporting in favor of breathless concerns over canceled park vacations and a sadly fade-to-black Panda cam:  1) agree to a universal 1-year delay for Obamacare enrollment rather than granting delays to selective constituencies; 2) insist that those lawmakers who crafted and passed ACA be required to enroll in it along with all other citizens.  This, of course, is “anarchy,” or “arson,” or “extremism,” or “terrorism,” or “hostage taking,” or — naturally — “racism.”

Now.  Compare the actual GOP compromise proposals to the actual Democrat party / Obama Administration position on the CR fight:  1) it is absolutely HORRIFIC that the GOP would ask for a 1-year universal delay when the President has already decided on his own who gets a waiver, who doesn’t, etc.  WHO DO THESE EXTREMISTS THINK THEY ARE?; and 2) asking that the lawmakers who crafted and passed ACA be required to enroll in it suggests that lawmakers are no more important than the economic units they rule, and that’s kinda preposterous, don’t you think?  I mean, sure, we’re all pigs. But some pigs are more equal than others.

Besides, HOW DARE YOU JIHADIS HOLD A GUN TO OUR HEADS!

That’s it.  That’s what the fight is over.  And yet we’re told that 20-22 Republicans in the House — the Peter King faction — is pushing to vote on a “clean” CR, and will try to get Boehner to caucus with them and the Dems to end the phony government shutdown which nobody really much cares about — even as Obama goes out of his way to make it hurt, be it by harassing WWII vets or denying clinical trials to children with cancer.  Surrenderers surrender.

Because, you see, polls.  Which are of course in no way influenced by a media going out of its way to dissemble and outright lie.  And who can fight that?  I mean, without putting a lot of effort into it?

No. Best to fold.  Opinions can’t be changed, polls are immutable, paradigms can’t shift, and the status quo just is.  Forever.

It’s fate.  Embrace it!

Q: What do you call 15 shots fired in front of the Capitol?
    A: A good start.

And who can fight that? I mean, without putting a lot of effort into it?

I’ve been wondering why nobody on “our” side has gotten out in front of the cameras to make the case clearly and loudly enough that the mediots can’t ignore it or miscast it. I had thought it was because they’re all stupid. Now I’m beginning to realize that it’s merely because they’re all just lazy.

Always and forever at us, McGehee.

    Uh, maybe Fort Sumter?

  15. palaeomerus says:

Eight shots over the “reasonable” New York magazine load restriction?

  16. McGehee says:

Squid, you’re the one who said if Obama were at war with us, we’d be winning. So if the guns are pointed at us, we must have already won!

  17. McGehee says:

Let’s just hope they don’t surrender, because that would mean our ruinous defeat.

    Humpty Dumpty told me so.
