… cuz last night I went to bed after tweeting in utter disgust:
How soon can Lane Kiffin be fired?
— darleenclick (@darleenclick) September 29, 2013
… and found out “Early this morning”
Kiffin was fired Sunday, in the early hours of the morning, not long after USC lost 62-41 at Arizona State, a game framed by 612 Sun Devils yards gained and four Trojans turnovers committed.
The 38-year-old Kiffin was 28-15 at USC and had lost seven of his last 11 games. It took just an 0-2 start in Pac-12 play for athletic director Pat Haden’s preseason declaration of “100 percent” support to drain to zero. […]
The decision was made by USC administrators during the second half of the ASU collapse. Upon returning to LAX, Kiffin was pulled of the team bus and told of his firing in the parking lot, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The bus was then sent back to campus.
I never understood why Kiffin was such a hot commodity. I started actively disliking him when he left Tennessee after a year in the middle of recruiting. Very bad form. I think Karma caught up with him.
Yep, Karma caught up with him in the parking lot and gave him a pink slip.
Sweet.
It’s Chris Davis bobble-head give-away day today, besides being the last day of regular season. Last time they had one of those he hit two taters and had 5 rbi if memory serves.
Oh, and let’s see if the Angels can make some trouble for the Rangers: the Rays have put up a 6 spot in the top of the first (though Matt Moore has responded to his good fortune with a bad rash of walk-’em disease), so, game on, Rangers.
Anytime a team with moniker ‘Arizona’ attached to it whups a team from hated California, I’m pleased. Shame it wasn’t U of A, but the SunDevils forking the Trojans is also satisfying.
Cheers!
Darleen’s got juice.

Funny thing … my late uncle played football at USC first then transferred and played the rest of his college career at ASU … so this is always an interesting game in our household.
He signed a contract with the SF 49ers (my aunt still has it) but the Navy had other plans.
It would have sent a better message, I think, if USC fired Kiffin before he got on the team bus in Arizona, threw out his bags and handed him a Southwest ticket for a Sunday morning flight…
Lane Kiffin couldn’t hack it in the PAC-12? Well, there’s always New Mexico State…
The only problem with this is they are talking about trying to steal Jack Del Rio away from the Broncos.
Think Jack wants the cushy USC job or a Super Bowl ring…?
Kiffin was always a lot bigger on bluster than actual coaching ability.
Maybe he can find himself an assistant coaching gig in the MAC.
