Then he got himself dead.
I think that about nutshells it.
So even as the progressive media and many in Congress continue to lie about the use of “assault rifles” or “AR-15” (which we who actually own and shoot firearms more commonly group in the category “rifles”), the truth is now out: Aaron Alexis, a liberal and a man who, if Obama had a son, he might look like, took the “advice” of the Vice President, bought a shotgun (which he could have done in England and France, incidentally), likely unscrewed the barrel to keep it concealed, re-attached the barrel, then used it not indiscriminately (as Mr Biden would have us do, firing through doors and hitting unsuspecting delivery drivers or Mormon missionaries), but rather with deliberation: he murdered a security guard and took two 9mm pistols, which he then used to continue his massacre.
And this, despite clear warnings that possession of firearms by unauthorized personnel in the yard is a crime! The audacity! Of hope!
Or, to put this in even clearer relief, the only thing that “caused” yesterday’s slaughter — not Sarah Palin, not TEA Party affiliation, not potential “domestic terrorists” identified by their references to “constitutionalism” or “limited government” going active — was the combination of mental illness and liberal gun control policies that keep law-abiding citizens unprotected while providing an advantage to Obama-supporting nutjobs bent on spree killings.
There is no earthly reason military installations should prohibit personnel from carrying sidearms if they so choose. And it is, as always, places like DC or Chicago, or government-mandated areas with the greatest gun restrictions, that tend to see these mass shootings — and an overall abundance of gun crime in general.
Yet again, to borrow a politically loaded phrase from our cynical, coercive, propagandist of a President.
It’s really a shame when the facts fail to conform to the meta-narrative, i.e shotgun and a perp with a solid progressive resume. It leaves the gun grabbers with the only their ultimate goal to talk about: grabbing all guns.
OT, did you know that all Mormon missionaries have inverted nipples? It comes from being repeatedly poked in the chest with the index fingers of people screaming, “get off my porch!”
There was one Navy Yard fatality resulting from AR-15 fire. The right one. It’s unclear how the AR-15 was kept from fulfilling its primary purpose of killing as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

If only there were an armed force that could protect our… er… armed forces.
What a difference 46 years makes.
Why, ostensibly, did Clinton disarm military personnel in 1993? What was the supposed rationale?
And what would it take to get that stupid thing rescinded?
If some reporter [are there any left?] wanted to pull on a thread that runs through the shooter’s entire existence they should start pulling on the Seattle shooting and just how could the paperwork be lost and any record of that arrest and charge never appear in any of the background checks he had?
dicentra, It wasn’t Clinton. The policy came during GHW Bush.
Link.
it was that fucking “Peace Dividend”, after the Soviet Union rotted from within, and we managed to turn Saddam’s army from being the 7th largest in the world to being the 2nd largest in Iraq.
“We don’t need all these bases, and all those nasty weapons being carried around in places where people might get hurt (hospitals, admin buildings, training commands, etc.). Leave the weapons in the armory until they need to go practice at the range…”
That was right around the time that the Dem-controlled congress managed to shove “no new taxes” down his throat, too.
I stand corrected.
So why did GWBush disarm the military?
OK, now I’m reading in other places that the policy of not being armed on military bases goes back awhile.
WTF?
dicentra says September 18, 2013 at 12:58 pm – WTF?
I’ve been reading anecdotal stuff of restrictions from the 70’s and before.
It really makes you wonder whose side most of the “top brass” is on.

Ah, the good old days! Conscripts, rampant drug abuse, the occasional “accidental” shooting of an LT in the back of his empty noggin…
oops. There’s HTML fail going on up there…
A pump shotgun is obviously an extremely low frequency weapon
A fully-automatic shotgun, maybe, but manual pump-and-fire doesn’t reach the 3-per-second rate necessary to reach even Extremely Low Frequencies. Not unless you really don’t mind dislocating your gun shoulder. And I can’t find anything lower…
“He also carved the phrase “MY E-L-F WEAPON” onto the stock of the shotgun, sources said”
He must have used mithril slugs…?
Earth Liberation Front, that hotbed of ultra-conservative Visigothery hobbitses
Maybe he was an Orc?
E-L-F-in’ close.
Get one of these. Your shoulder will thank you!
I figure if I have to pump out shotgun shells at that rate, a sore shoulder would be the least of my worries…
Serr8d would something like that work well with semi-auto’s like the benelli m2 (12 gauge) or mossberg sa-20 tactical (20 gauge) ?

Actually, the Europeans have a bit of a complex about pump firearms like the 870, I gather it’s their currently demonized “assault weapon”, and the U.K. in particular defines a shotgun like the 870 with its greater than 3 round capacity a “firearm” (and maybe any pump shotgun). Getting licenses for those is very difficult, e.g. you have to show cause beyond “sporting”, this Obama supporter would have never gotten one (legally). Maybe one of Joe Biden’s preferred over and under shotgun, which would have made it more difficult to take out two armed guards at a security station, assuming that’s what happened.
France is a lot more relaxed, albeit with lots and lots of sometimes pettifogging regulations, but pump shotguns (but not rifles!) of all capacities were moved into the much more difficult category in 1995 due to perception I mention above.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but how does having an over-under make it harder to take out the two guards?
Step one cut down barrel (illegally) to concealable size.
Step two: shoot guard “a” in the face
Step three: shoot guard “b” in the face
Step four: retrieve dead/disabled guards handguns
Step five: turkey-shoot
How much shooting under pressure have you done? Hunting, target shooting competition, etc.?
People miss in real life, even with long guns, especially with ones cut down like this was reported to be, and only having two rounds without a quick reload might have made a difference. Very possibly not, we (or at least I) don’t have enough details yet—were the two guards close enough that they both could be “shot in the face”?—and there’s also the issue that the authorities failed hard and are going to be embarrassed by what happened.
Fair points all Harold, which I totally agree with Harold.
Just wanted to make sure you concern-trolling. Two-barrels good, one barrel and a (tubular) magazine baahd, so to speak.
I shot trap well enough to earn my shooting sports (rifle and shotgun, whatever it was called) merit badge back in the day. Which was lucky for me because I couldn’t (and still can’t) shoot for shit from a prone position.
Step three: shoot guard “b” in the face
I have no direct knowledge of the circumstances, but surmise that one of the two handguns the press says were taken on site belonged to a contract security guard who was killed, and the other belonged to a D.C. Metro policeman who was shot in the legs and survived with serious injuries. As I say, I don’t know these probable events for a fact, but deduce them from the published reports I’ve seen.
you weren’t concern trolling.
it be haaaarghd t’type wi’ only three fingers on yer left hand. Aarrghh.
This is what has been put up about the early part with the later confrontation with police left vague.
I believe sdferr is correct. One pistol early on from a security guard and one later from a police officer.
The security guard’s name is Richard Michael Ridgell, 52 (he’d been a Maryland State Trooper for 17 years or so, retiring to go into private security work). The D.C. cop is named Scott Williams.
Four hundred three thousand, two hundred forty-eight little hours…
More or less.
A report detailing FBI director Comey’s account of the mass killing at the Naval Yard D.C. seems only to assert to one handgun taken and used by the madman, that of Mike Ridgell, not two. So my speculation regarding the D.C. cop couldn’t have been more wrong, based as it was on thin air, or press accounts, pick ’em.
*** So Obama, his patience tried and his leverage maxed out, headed west for a day to a sprawling auto plant in Missouri. ***
Thus the fawning press at CBS/AP.
But really, another useless campaign stop, “his patience tried” haucking imperial loogies at the American people once again? This guy is worse than a deranged shotgunner out for blood, a paranoid-schizophrenic who probably can’t help himself and succumbs to his vile demons.
No, this Emperor of the Western World chooses to go out to do harm. He is too far above doing what people thought they had elected him to do.
