How is this even possible, what with the vigorous and unblinkered attempts by the GOP (well, short of engaging a special prosecutor skilled in the legal maneuverings necessary to ferret out information from the morass of lies, deceit, and agency / Administration cover up, I mean; because that’s just tacky) to get to the bottom of all this?
In a remarkable admission that is likely to rock the Internal Revenue Service again, testimony released Thursday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp reveals that an agent involved in reviewing tax exempt applications from conservative groups told a committee investigator that the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups, three months after the IRS scandal erupted. In closed door testimony before the House Ways & Means Committee, the unidentified IRS agent said requests for special tax status from Tea Party groups is being forced into a special “secondary screening” because the agency has yet to come up with new guidance on how to judge the tax status of the groups.
Well, I guess Vision to America and I hold different effective definitions for “remarkable” and the verb form of “rock.” Because in this context, instead of “remarkable” I would have gone with “inevitable” — maybe “UNEXPECTED!,” for the irony and reprise aficionados here — and instead of “likely to rock,” I would have gone with “likely to disappear from the news cycle in a day or so, if it even makes it in.”
But then, that’s why I’m such a fucking outlaw — to the point where I even terrify the red meat conservatives, both old and recently turned, who have deemed me simply too unpredictable for polite, activist company.
Either that, or they’ve decided I’m an asshole who challenges them in public, and that to win this battle, we must stick together. Behind McCain. Or Romney. Or someone else inevitable with the chops to beat the left.
When they aren’t joining them, of course.
If you’ve ever seen Kevin Costner’s No Way Out, you’ll know why they can’t mount a real investigation.
At this point, I have my doubts that they could mount a Shetland Pony. Or even a Chihuaha.
the agency is still targeting Tea Party groups
For fuck’s sake, if the agency weren’t still targeting Tea Party groups it wouldn’t be doing its job. There’s knowing complicity with treason and unknowing complicity with treason. This agency can’t pretend it isn’t aware what it’s dealing with. Sheesh.
At this point, I have my doubts that they could mount a Shetland Pony. Or even a Chihuaha.
Weepy Smurf had to practice his ankle-grabbing every day for decades to get to the mountable position he’s in today.
It’s war, we just don’t act like it.
