…if only because it will allow those of you so inclined to mitigate your outrage by recalling Daisy Duke and her micro-Levi cutoffs.
Still, even as Colorado Democrat lawmakers — and it’s “centrist” Governor, all of whom it turns out are bought and paid for my a New York Mayor, representing his interests above the interests of the people of Colorado — voted down party lines (with one rural Democrat’s dissent) to strike a natural right as laid out clearly in the Bill of Rights protecting private gun ownership, the legislators of Colorado as a whole had no problem voting themselves the new right to place themselves above the kind of laws that are meant to manage and maintain the herd (and to keep government coffers filled), some pigs naturally being more equal than others:
State lawmakers are getting special perks because of their legislative license plates.
The plates issued to the 100 state lawmakers and representatives elected to serve Colorado are preventing them not only from receiving photo radar tickets but also collection notices from past due parking tickets.
The legislative plates are not entered into the Colorado DMV database, so when photo radar cameras catch these drivers speeding, they never received tickets. That’s because of a loophole that doesn’t allow the City of Denver to electronically cross-reference those plates with a home address.
— The city of Denver, like its Boulder cousin, is the hotbed of Democrat lawmakers in the state — what I’ve called the empty hole in the states otherwise largely center-right to outright conservative donut.
So I don’t think this is a coincidence — though the “loophole” would benefit all lawmakers who do business at the Denver Capitol.
More:
[…] CBS4 has uncovered the same glitch with parking tickets. Lawmakers who don’t pay their parking tickets aren’t sent to collections. The problem is the City of Denver’s collections relies on the state DMV database for addresses.
“Because the Department of Public Works relies on the DMV Database to contact people with unpaid parking tickets we are not able to contact legislators with unpaid parking tickets,” explained Denver Public Works spokesperson Emily Williams.
Williams agrees the net effect is that lawmakers can ignore the parking tickets without consequences.
“That’s true,” Williams said, “And it’s the glitch in the system”.
— Let me just say this: when your state legislature — politics in general — is stuffed to its sleezy french collars with lawyers, there are no “glitches.” There are only crafted loopholes ready for exploitation from those who craft and pass these laws.
[…]
Williams initially told us the city would track down the lawmakers and make them pay up.
Apparently there has been a change of heart, Williams said now that would be too costly and perhaps too difficult to figure out.
Right. But if you’re a young child running a lemonade stand without the proper licensing, you can be damn sure some locality will have time to find you and take both the joy and the profit right out of your little budding capitalist heart.
As a way of training you that you are a slave to the state, and that lawmakers and bureaucrats effectively own you. It’s a form of tribute. A tithe to the God of State.
A good comrade must be conditioned, you see. Taught that the same hand that can be stern when laws are broken can be benevolent once you find that the capitalist system they’ve poisoned with onerous regulation lets you down, and you need assistance from your rulers.
So the obvious fix, were people inclined to do so — and I am not, nor could I ever condone it, being the moral man I am — would be to spot these license plates, Tweet out their locations to a Twitter hash tag dedicated to protesting the double standard (say, #fuckyouyouaintroyalty), and then see what happens when the low folk happen by with a set of keys an the ability to spell “asshole” in the paint job of some Town Car.
Bet then the “loophole” would be closed in a hurry.

Quod licit Jovi, non licit bovi.
Gotta keep up with the big progressive nobility.
“Everyone’s going to be free,
But they have to agree to be free.
They have to agree to be less free than me,
‘Cause I rule the world, you see.”
I guess I’ll need to bone up on remembering how to rank Dukes, Barons, Viscounts, and Lords. Wouldn’t want to offend one of My Betters with an improper form of obeisance.
Well she-it, why should ferinners in New Yok City be the only ones t’have any fun?
He asked in his best fake Uncle Jimbo accent.
If PETA can be cheered for throwing blood on people in fur coats, can we be cheered for throwing red ink and bullshit on our legislators?
