Congrats, Democrats: you are now the Kermit Gosnell Party!

And Wendy Davis, State Senator from Fort Worth, is your official emblem:  a shrieking, self-righteous ass who fought heroically for the “rights” of icy-veined women and their specialized doctors to choose to murder 20-week — that’s 5+ months of the generally required 9, for those keeping tabs – babies.

And I make the point of writing “babies” because they aren’t polywogs or fetal-tissue at 5+ months, and no amount of rationalization can pretend that what’s being done when an abortion is performed at 20+ weeks is something essentially different from infanticide.  Regardless of who you can cobble together to form an expedient and selfish consensus that allows it.

So congrats to the Dems, and to Obama, specifically, who vocally supported the brave Wendy Davis, rising star of the Democrat Party, who had the guts to Fight the Powers!

— and in so doing, to beat back the powerful “gee, we’d really like to live, we babies, and we’d tell you so if you didn’t off us with lots of sharp stainless steel tools first” lobby.

You’ve taken the idea of restricting individual rights to a whole new level.

How can they maintain the conceit that we’re faceless masses in need of molding and herding if we don’t regard itty-bitty peoples as real?

    Or severely disabled peoples…

Or totally old and forgetful peoples…

    Or lifeydoodle peoples…

  2. dicentra says:

    don’t

  3. Pablo says:

These are no more “clumps of cells” than Wendy Davis is. You’ve got to have awesome powers of self-delusion to suggest otherwise.

  4. Alec Leamas says:

Yeah, but unborn babies don’t wear pink running shoes. Trés cute, don’t you think?

Come to think of it, I think it might be good for a chuckle to have some tiny pink Sauconys made up – oh, I don’t know, perhaps the appropriate size for a baby at five months’ gestation – as a symbolic gesture and send them to Wendy.

  5. BT says:

I’ve been trying to think what actress Wendy Davis reminds me of and i’ve settled on Helen Mirren. Wasn’t Perry calling the legislature back into session to vote on the bill? So i’m not sure what Davis accomplished other than showing Dewhurst’s complete lack of leadership in getting the vote done in time.

They just let the air in. It’s perfectly simple.

  8. leigh says:

BT, Wendy Davis looks like Goldie Hawn from the “Private Benjamin” days. Messy hair, kinda stupid. Goldie had some serious curves back in the day, though, so the resemblance ends there.

  9. Libby says:

Put a short brunette wig on Wendy Davis and she’s Nancy Pelosi. Oh, and she’s a ghoul just the rest of these harpies demanding the right to kill their young in the womb.
Kirsten Powers spelled it out a while back:

“What we need to learn from the Gosnell case is that late-term abortion is infanticide. Legal infanticide. That so many people in the media seem untroubled by the idea that 12 inches in one direction is a “private medical decision” and 12 inches in the other direction causes people to react in horror, should be troubling.”

I was going simply on looks based on this picture Kinda Helen Mirren, little Goldie in there, maybe Emma Thompson.

After the NVA decisions Davis’s seat is in danger , so maybe this was just a ploy to get to the top of the donations list.

  14. leigh says:

I think maybe it’s the mole, BT. Plus, she just looks disheveled all the time like Goldie.

  15. happyfeet says:

that’s 5+ months of the generally required 9

There was a theologian (I want to say Peter Kreeft, but I could be wrong) who is very prominent in arguing pro-life issues. He had a debate with a feminist at some university and argued — very eloquently — that most abortions are nothing but infanticide, a trick of geography, and that there was no moral argument made for abortion that couldn’t also be legitimately applied to infanticide.

The feminist thanked him after the debate and said that he had really opened her eyes… and now she was pro-infanticide. (And she was not joking.) He said that was a cautionary tale for arguing too effectively.

  18. cranky-d says:

    At least she was consistent.

Yeah. They aren’t really babies at all until the hit the full 40.

I wish there was some way that we could send a letter to every pregnant woman at 5 months or so advising them that there is still time to get rid of the little clump of cells. Would sort of make both sides’ points quite well and simultaneously.

  33. happyfeet says:

    Dear pregnant lady

hi this is happyfeet. You are now officially 5 months pregnant. First of all let me say congratulations. Second of all if you do not live in texas and depending on where else you live it might could be that you still have recourse to an abortion. You’ll have to check your local laws.

That’s pretty much all I wanted to say.

I just thought i’d let you know cause of a Mr. Leamas thought this would sort of make a good point. I think Mr. Leamas would very much prefer you not have an abortion but it’s totally your call. Unless you live in Texas or you do live in Texas and can’t afford to take a few days off and travel to a different state. But otherwise it’s your call not the government’s.

Anyway I hope you have a nice summer.

  37. Dear Mother-to-be:

Unlike some people I believe you will be a loving mother to your child and that like billions before you, you can persevere against hardship and prevail — because you are a human woman and, when a human woman becomes a mom, there isn’t much that can stop her.

But if you don’t think you’re ready to raise your child, please know that there are would-be mothers and fathers out there who would be happy to give him or her a loving home so you’ll never have to worry.

Even if you can’t be your child’s mom, there’s no reason why he can’t be somebody’s beautiful baby.

p.s. if you give your baby up for adoption just pass on your medical records and if you can you should also pass on the father’s. But after that make a clean break. Closed adoptions are cool. Open adoptions are tacky. Don’t believe me you can google it.

p.s.s. If I had one bit of McGehee-like advice to give I would tell you to cut your cable. You’ll thank me later.

  41. For someone who likes to give advice, mine sure was light on the telling her what to do.

  42. Libby says:

Uh, guys, I see where you’re going with the letter to pregnant women, but really, by 5 months you are very aware of the live being inside you. If he/she isn’t squirming, he/she is kicking. And the sonograms are amazing – seeing your little one do things like grab a toe. This is what so vexes me about these mommy abortion-warriors. The know it’s a baby in there at 5 months, and yet they fight every possible maternal (heck, human) instinct for the sake of some nebulous idea of freedom to continue pursuit of their fabulous lifestyle without the baby.

  45. serr8d says:

Ok, let’s settle the abortion debate for good.

Every woman gets a “free” abortion at any point in her life that she chooses. No guilt except that nagging sensation as her life passes by and she thinks, thinks, thinks….

Her next abortion comes with a free bonus: snip, snip fallopian tubes! No more problem cell clumps, evah! No more wondering later if she’s a mass murderer!

Changes her mind, wants kids later, after the snips? Get in line behind the gay ‘couples’ wanting to adopt a new toy zensation from China.

    what could go wrong?

  46. newrouter says:

“oh also that should be *Dear* pregnant lady”

    pregnant with WHAT pikadude?

  47. Libby says:

Adoption is a wonderful option, and the mother should be free to choose whether its open or closed. My husband was adopted into a great family but decided to track down his birth mom for medical records. Fortunately she was looking for him, too, and it’s been a wonderful, unexpected relationship (not mother-son, but there’s no mistaking that genetics are strong and they are so alike). He and I have both found a way to say “thanks” for you-know-what without explicitly spelling it out, but it’s really a gift that she didn’t take the easy way out of an unplanned pregnancy. But it’s been a gift for her, too, after starting as something that was initially so upsetting (and seemed to insurmountable at the time).

  48. palaeomerus says:

That’s just logistics.

geoffb, you helped inspire me to ‘fix‘ that pic Democrats are widely circulating, the one with Wendy Davis and the cute kid in the Texas Capitol, the one they hope help prove she’s not the monstrous monster what would kill cute kids before they get cute enough to keep.

  53. geoffb says:

    Nice serr8d.

Believe it or not this below is a quote from an abortion supporter at Kos who is taking the quote from this Chris Hedges piece to use to fight for Planned Parenthood Corporation’s right to continue to kill kids after 20 weeks.

Rebel. Even if you fail, even if we all fail, we will have asserted against the corporate forces of exploitation and death our ultimate dignity as human beings.

  54. scooter says:

    Dear pregnant lady,
If you’re pregnant and still trying to decide whether or not to have an abortion at 20 weeks, you’re an irresponsible idiot (but I repeat myself because you’re obviously pregnant and not married).

At 20 weeks, you have known about your pregnancy for at LEAST 6 weeks (really? no menses for 20 weeks and your belly is growing and holy shit it turns out *I’M KNOCKED UP??!!?!??!*) if not longer. Asking you to make the decision to abort BEFORE 20 WEEKS is not too much to ask.

    Sincerely,
Just some damn guy who needs to keep his government off of your uterus

On the gripping hand, I can’t help but loathe the little bastard, because it actively chooses to be a monster in the eyes of the wise, rather than risk being uncool in the eyes of the shallow.
