The Revolution WILL Be Televised

The Telegraph (UK):

The trial of Saddam Hussein will be shown on live television, Iraq’s national security adviser said yesterday.

The trial will show the Arab and Muslim world “that this is going to be a fair, just trial with a defence counsel in there, with a proper prosecuting counsel as well there,” Iraqi national security adviser Muwaffaq Rubaie told CNN. “And everybody will watch this trial live on television.”

Earlier this month, an Iraqi tribunal filed the first charges against the deposed Iraqi leader over the 1982 killing of 143 residents of the village of Dujail, north-east of Baghdad, where he had been the target of a failed assassination attempt.

No date for his trial has yet been set.

The odds Coca-Cola will purchase time to run its “I’d Like to Teach the World to Chill” ad campaign are currently running 12-1 against—but that could change, should the company prove successful in its negotiations with the new Iraqi government to “remove from the televised trial any mention of rape rooms, industrial plastic shredders, and little children being gassed and left in fields, smoldering and choking to death on toxins,” a spokesman for the soft drink giant told this CITIZEN JOURNALIST.

A fair and public trial, followed by a first-class hanging.

I still say “Give him to the women”…

    Arabic with english subtitles,

    or dubbed?

For once, a trial-of-the-century headline in the works that doesn’t involve someone whose trial is only famous because of the defendant’s fame.

Because I don’t want to live in a world where Michael Jackson’s proclivities for little boys is the most momentous event in jurisprudence over a 100 year span.

I’m hoping for dubbed. It’ll be like the original Iron Chef
