— Alt least, that’s how I see t in my mind’s eye. And he isn’t alone. The vast majority of the GOP establishment would do the same, were they able to pull off the Maddow specs the way metrosexual Joe does. I mean, abolish the IRS? Seriously? What kind of far-right, racist, Birch-society anarcho-capitalist wacko bird extremist Hobbity nonsense is that? How would the nuances of the political game be played, and who that masters those nuances would then rise in power and prestige, using patronage and punishment to control a desired societal balance between those willing to pony up for protection, those who aren’t, and those who frankly who are too insignificant to worry about (the “masses”), without a system that is so byzantine in its layout and biased in its implementation and policing policies that it requires the deft political maneuverings of the most cynical and pragmatic of our ruling-class betters?
Whatever. You aren’t Mr Smith, and this ain’t a Capra film, Junior Senator Interloper. This is big boy chess. And you keep pretending that when we talk about a government by, of, and for the people — the great sum of worker bees and Glee adepts, of ham-and-eggers and middle management types — we actually believe that shit.
This is why people like Cruz, who come to DC and don’t spend their first few terms learning the very grammar of the place before spouting off, are so terribly unhelpful. They get the people’s hopes up, suggesting that the masses have some sort of real say in governance. It’s rank populism, and it doesn’t take into account How Washington Works — the very sport of the thing.
So we must destroy such fiends. Such fringe lunatics. Such uncompromising non-compromisers. Or at the very least, make it so that they just shut up.
Abolish the IRS. Pshaw. Why not just run through the cities raping the poor, pillaging the effete royalty, and leaving pollution and a warmer climate in your wake? Filty, filthy, filthy Visigoths.

Interesting messaging there. Instead of advocaring for Fair Tax or Flat Tax. Cruz is going for the more popular buzzword and leaving aside the niggling details. This should be something that all Americans are for – We the People against those on the inside (and therefore on the side of) the spoils system and, of course, the rent seekers.
Love the commentary too Jeff. Someday you should tell us how you really feel.
Just the IRS? How about abolishing the Dept. of Education, HUD….
Oh, and who elected Scarborough RNC chief? Hasn’t he signed on with the No Labels crowd?
Oh, I do so love me some Cruz…..
angstlee, you’re welcome!

You say those like they’re bad things.
Dude, have you seen the poor? I wouldn’t rape that bunch with Hillary’s dick.
What do you think the SEIU is for, Squid?
This is a good post.
Do You Really Trust These People with Your Medical Records?
Abolish the IRS!
Seems like a winning campaign to me.
OBAMA IRS SCANDAL WIDENS – Conservative Activists and Businesses Targeted, Too
Every so often I come and find an article and show it around and say “See, this how to write”.
This is one of those times. Thanks for making the effort to do it right. My understanding of the art of writing is a little bit deeper for it. Again, thanks. And by the way, those members of the fraternity that studiously ignore you publicly? This is another link some of them will get from me.

Yeah. We in Texas elected him to throw a wrench in Washington’s gears and he looked liked was a bigger wrench that David “WD40” Dewhurst.
I wish the GOP was so much a topic of mockery that a candidate could not get elected without mentioning that he aimed to misbehave from GOP norms, or at the least describing him or herself as going to washington just to be “unhelpful”.
I met him back when he was a longshot. Can’t say I miss Senator Dewhurst.
It’s never too soon for liberty.
Jeff,
If your not careful, that feminist (satire recce deficient) girl will be slandering your name all over her segment of the internet again!
