Being as Obazm has no sense of justice whatsoever we should probably leave him some slack, but no, Barry, that’s not something our Founders would have foreseen, force feeding criminal unlawful combatants like these.
Trying them upon capture by a military commission within a fortnight, thereupon on conviction hanging them or lining them against a wall to be shot, that they might have foreseen.
But forcing them to eat against their will? Holding them in prison for years on end without trial. Hell no. They wouldn’t have thought of such a thing in their wildest dreams. But then, they were men and not a worm-form as the like of you.

Other than that, you have a point.
Obazm’s familiarity with the building blocks of justice extends to using the instrumentalities of government to persecute his political opposition in order to enable the theft of an election; to use other of those instrumentalities to suppress brave speech and silence those who would call out his wrong-doing, in order to engender mistrust between those who have direct knowledge of the evils perpetrated by his administration and those who could bring those evils to the attention of the public. These make only a tiny start on the avenues of his ken of justice.

scouting is all about choices Mr. Ernst you can get a code red merit badge or you can get a merit badge for Keeping Your Fag Mouth Shut it’s up to the individual scout
Exactly wrong. A code red will get you kicked out (at the very least), and starting in 2014, you don’t have to keep your fag mouth shut if you’re not so inclinded.
– “sites” not cites. I apparently have too much legalese slipping into my speech patterns these days. Must be the nature of the administration I live under.
Since the thread sdferr mentioned this on has died and this one seems to not be IRS limited anymore…
In the wake of President Obama’s big speech about restraining the war on terrorism, a member of the House intelligence committee is working on a bill to undo the basic authorities to wage it.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is preparing a piece of legislation that would “sunset” the 2001 Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF), a foundational law passed in the days after the 9/11.
[…]
There has only been one previous effort to reexamine the AUMF
[…]
Shortly after the GOP win in the 2010 midterm elections, the incoming chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.), argued that it was time for a new version. Since the short 2001 AUMF only authorizes military action against those responsible for 9/11, McKeon contended, the administration lacked legal authority to combat the contemporary versions of al-Qaida in places like Yemen and East Africa.
[…]
The Obama administration wasted little time in telling McKeon’s committee it wasn’t interested in revisiting the AUMF. The 2001 AUMF was “sufficient to address the existing threats that I’ve seen,” Jeh Johnson, then the Pentagon’s senior lawyer, testified in March 2011.
Formally, Johnson didn’t really explain how a law that was about avenging 9/11 actually allowed Obama to take military action against, say, al-Shebab. But Johnson didn’t make the administration’s real reasons for opposing the AUMF explicit. It was worried that congressional Republicans would write a bill expanding presidential authority to attack terrorist groups unrelated to al-Qaida, something that would expand a global war that the administration was internally growing skeptical about.
Obama made that position explicit in his speech at the National Defense University — as well as endorsing, for the first time, the eventual repeal of a law he has relied heavily on throughout his presidency.
“I look forward to engaging Congress and the American people in efforts to refine, and ultimately repeal, the AUMF’s mandate,” Obama said. “And I will not sign laws designed to expand this mandate further. Our systematic effort to dismantle terrorist organizations must continue. But this war, like all wars, must end.”
Nice little word there “end.” Left hanging is “what end?” Victory is a word that Obama never uses for real war only the political ones that are considered real for the Left. Defeat would not be a helpful way to have “end” characterized so that won’t happen. Wimper might be reality for the wimp-perer in chief but he will no doubt try to have his cake and eat it too.
What’s more, Obama’s willingness to “ultimately repeal” the AUMF runs right smack into his codification of a more limited counterterrorism war lasting for years. At the National Defense University, Obama simultaneously talked about a longer war and removing his own authorities for waging it.
food stamp doesn’t give two shits about the AUMF I don’t think – if anything he likes how it helps Team R rationalize a ton of borrowings from the chinesers
but Daddy Soros says jump and food stamp says yes daddy
Mr. Hunter looks like Glenn Reynolds the Instapundit scoured the internet and found a post what says exactly what you said about the Pegster at 10:02 pm
AUMF, like Gitmo, is about making sure the left wing doesn’t sit out ’14 like they sat out ’10. Now that Obama doesn’t have to worry about losing the middle anymore.
Maybe he wants to get something like what is talked about here.
Proposals to delegate such future—and momentous—decisions to the President lack any historical precedent, and for good reason. It is Congress, not the Executive, that is given the authority under our Constitution to declare war. An authorization to use military force…should not be an ex ante delegation to the President to make unreviewable decisions to go to war at some future date. This is something our Founding Fathers understood well. Thus, proposals to delegate such a determination to the President threaten the carefully calibrated balance of powers enmeshed within the Constitution, essentially asking Congress to surrender one of its most important functions to the Executive.
Congress having delegated so much to the Executive over the past 100 years what’s a little more giving matter. It’s only war if you call it such. Overseas contingency operations are so much cleaner and neater.
Thus, proposals to delegate such a determination to the President threaten the carefully calibrated balance of powers enmeshed within the Constitution…
What is this “balance of powers” nonsense? The President does whatever the hell he wants, the Congress writes the checks, and the Courts find ways of justifying it. That’s all the balance there is, and all there needs to be. At least ’til some effing Republican gets elected, God forbid.
There’s a world-historical meet and greet on the streets of Stockholm these days as the spirit of I Am Curious Yellow/Blue encounters the spirit of The Koran, to hilarious and flammably predictable effect. The Spirit of Democratic-Socialism, despite its enormous outsized relative mass in Sverige, isn’t quite certain whether it wishes to survive the collision — not so much from a positive skepticism as from a waning attachment to its own distant, mist enshrouded urges, the which it can’t honestly make out. This is the fun of the world-historical though, we should say: these unexpected turns making up those delightful novelties the best entertainment demands.
Thought experiment – if the IRS is using our resources (in the form of taxes) to wage war on we, the taxpayers, what happens if we refuse to continue to fund the IRS by no longer paying taxes?
Clearly, if only a few people do it, the IRS wins. How does one organize a massive response such that the IRS is out-gunned (figuratively, of course)?
Some organizations (let’s call them Cosmoi with Hayek!) organize themselves spontaneously, “from out of nowhere”, so to speak. And oh my, fingering a culprit is made infinitely difficult in such circumstances.
I suspect that’s why the leaderless rise of the Tea Party caused such terror within the Beltway. How can you buy off the movement if there is no leader who can disband or redirect it?
Yep, darth, I’m a quarterly payer, and I had to think long and hard as I wrote out checks this last April 15th. And therein lies the rub. The vast majority of taxpayers are wage-earners and do not have the option to stop withholding. It would take a concerted effort by employers to stop paying. Sdferr’s cosmoi aren’t likely to spontaneously organize.
Further thought: it all comes back to states’ rights. It’s going to be necessary for a state to “opt out.” With that protection, businesses would feel less constrained to abide by federal tax collection law. Individuals going Galt just aren’t as likely to do the trick.
I’d guess this would be conditioned by the concert [effectively, not to say intentionally] to outrage on the part of the bumbling Leviathan, which seems in the left hand not to ken what the right hand is doing. “Mistakes,” they like to say, “get made.” Even willy-nilly.
I look askance at the whole “rape survivor” thing not because I think rape is a cool thing that absolutely everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime, and not because I think people are never raped and then killed, but because rape is not obviously a life-threatening thing.
It’s kind of self-aggrandizing thing, sort of like if you formed a group of people who survived a mugging, or a high-speed bicycling accident.
I am willing to give people who have been raped all the room in the world to work out their emotional issues. But I am not all about this kind of thing. I think it’s unhealthy. At some point, it has to be something that happened to you that doesn’t force you into this common mold with a whole bunch of other people.

That’s hazing, which remains an activity –an illicit one at that.
Unlike say, “having sex” with another boy four years your junior.
Because sex with other boys is what gay boys are.
scouting is all about choices Mr.
– Do pinkachus get merit badges fro refraining from endless moronic posts on blog cites?
it’s a mess Mr. Ernst but when Ted Cruz is president we can get the IRS to take a hard look at their tax-exempt status wink wink
scout’s honor they’ll vote the little homos out lickety-split i betcha
and then everything will be back like it was
merit badges are not reflective of how the real world works Mr. Hunter
it is a very sad thing to learn
this is why I like to stand ready with cookies
– “sites” not cites. I apparently have too much legalese slipping into my speech patterns these days. Must be the nature of the administration I live under.
– Well stay staunch pikachu. Eventually all the adults will leave the room and you and your cookies will be safe with the rest of the children.
You should go back to trying to shame people into silence. Assertion monkeying isn’t working for you.
dude have you checked the culture war scoreboard lately
Since the thread sdferr mentioned this on has died and this one seems to not be IRS limited anymore…
Oh, in the picture at the link don’t you just love the “moderate” blue-dog? Democrat’s scarf?
the AUMF is too-easily twisted around as a license to do stuff what furthers the defense of Israel Mr. geoff
fascists have this thing about Israel
wow
some propaganda slut “spencer ackerman” at “wired” actually thinks the AUMF was about “avenging 9/11” for reals?
looked at that way then yeah it was something of a big fucking fail
heh. Did you just call me a loser?
no Mr. Ernst I’m just saying we have to be careful not to run up the scoreboard or we’ll get disqualified
the whole AUMF thing smells like Soros
food stamp doesn’t give two shits about the AUMF I don’t think – if anything he likes how it helps Team R rationalize a ton of borrowings from the chinesers
but Daddy Soros says jump and food stamp says yes daddy
I’ll leave the worrying about the score to you then.
Mr. Hunter looks like Glenn Reynolds the Instapundit scoured the internet and found a post what says exactly what you said about the Pegster at 10:02 pm
AUMF, like Gitmo, is about making sure the left wing doesn’t sit out ’14 like they sat out ’10. Now that Obama doesn’t have to worry about losing the middle anymore.
ok Mr. Ernst
my brow is as yet unfurrowed but i practice furrowing sometimes
(but only when I have loreal hydra-renewal handy)
Maybe he wants to get something like what is talked about here.
Congress having delegated so much to the Executive over the past 100 years what’s a little more giving matter. It’s only war if you call it such. Overseas contingency operations are so much cleaner and neater.
Interesting piece by John Fund:

Teaser: Chrissy Matthews has apparently stopped writing “Mrs. Barack Hussein Obama” on his Trapper Keeper.
– He told an “untruth”. Heh. The ranks of Obamite disillusioned ass-clowns continues to swell.
Very familiar. Rings many bells, it does.
You’ve not discoursed with Craig Shirley, author of that Brietbart piece?
Allow me.
RI Red, this is the curse of Automatic Withholding.
Everybody could opt out, but then we’d all be writing big checks to the IRS every three months.
Which, come to think of it, would spark a tax revolt pretty quickly.
But good question: How many people opting out would it take to effectively starve the government of revenue?
How does one organize
Some organizations (let’s call them Cosmoi with Hayek!) organize themselves spontaneously, “from out of nowhere”, so to speak. And oh my, fingering a culprit is made infinitely difficult in such circumstances.
I suspect that’s why the leaderless rise of the Tea Party caused such terror within the Beltway. How can you buy off the movement if there is no leader who can disband or redirect it?
Lois Learner, Slapped With Lawsuit Papers at Home
Yep, darth, I’m a quarterly payer, and I had to think long and hard as I wrote out checks this last April 15th. And therein lies the rub. The vast majority of taxpayers are wage-earners and do not have the option to stop withholding. It would take a concerted effort by employers to stop paying. Sdferr’s cosmoi aren’t likely to spontaneously organize.
Further thought: it all comes back to states’ rights. It’s going to be necessary for a state to “opt out.” With that protection, businesses would feel less constrained to abide by federal tax collection law. Individuals going Galt just aren’t as likely to do the trick.
aren’t likely
I’d guess this would be conditioned by the concert [effectively, not to say intentionally] to outrage on the part of the bumbling Leviathan, which seems in the left hand not to ken what the right hand is doing. “Mistakes,” they like to say, “get made.” Even willy-nilly.
Mistakes were made by 52% of the voters last November.
