Obligatory Old Spock v New Spock post [Darleen Click]

What can I say but I almost fell of my chair laughing at the bit of Nimoy singing Bilbo Baggins … as I knew what it referenced without having to Google it.

I had to stay home sick today and this was my first surf.

I think I’ll just have to close my laptop and play solitaire with real cards now.

Everything else will be a disappointment.

    Thanks for the CLICK.

  2. Squid says:

I also knew exactly what Nimoy was singing, and nearly blew tea out my nose. Masterfully done, even if it is advertising what Jezza so aptly called “cars for cocks.”

  3. serr8d says:

Audi’s commercial, wildly successful. Check the #Audi #geek #Spock hashtags.

Another wildly successful advertising campaign (or so we all hope).

  4. Okay, I wouldn’t have recognized the Bilbo Baggins song, but those other two Nimoy bits were nice.

“Technically, we’re not inside yet.” Treacherous old Vulcan.

  5. Physics Geek says:

    Now that was impressive.

  6. leigh says:

Darleen, when I was about ten or eleven, one of my friends had an autographed record album by Leonard Nimoy. I’d forgotten that he tried to make a go of it in music.

    Thanks! That is hilarious.

  7. cranky-d says:

I laughed the most during the Wrath of Kahn reference, but the notion of him singing the Bilbo song while driving is hilarious.

  8. mojo says:

“Old age and treachery will overcome youth and vigor every time.”

  9. Hard to believe Nimoy’s 82.

  10. dicentra says:

How many of you knew that Nimoy was a regular on Mission: Impossible after he did Trek?

He replaced Martin Landau as the sophisticated, urbane playboy (his cover ID, naturally). Very odd to watch him play a character who plays a different character every episode.

Also, WTF with the Bilbo Baggins song? When did THAT happen and why?

  11. bgbear says:

the Bilbo Baggins song had me cracking up too. They need to use it in the new trilogy somehow.

  12. Swen says:

Personally, I think Nemoy’s greatest achievement was his involvement in the “fat acceptance” movement.

    Yep, he’s a strange duck….

    di

it appears every tv actor in the 60s/70s had to try their hand at cutting an album.

I actually still have Nimoy’s first album tucked away … with my Monkees albums

    ;-)

The Bilbo song is from his second (and last I believe) album.

Note to self: don’t try to use any of those special characters in comments.

  15. Ouroboros says:

… at least Leonard sang.. Shatner would have made you listen to him speak the whole song dramatically as he smoked.

Bilbo.. (long pause).. Bilbo Baggins.. (puff)..
Bravest little Hobbit of them all.
