Has Assad crossed that bright red line yet, Mr Obama?

Warning: the images at the linked site, which showcase the Banyas Massacre, are gruesome and beyond disturbing.

But as with the video of Daniel Pearl having his head sawed off by KSM (whom, incidentally, the left and some on the right were OUTRAGED to learn was fake drowned before he surrendered information that prevented a number of future terror attacks), we sometimes must sack up and refuse to avert our eyes so that we can see what it is that men bent on retaining power are prepared to do to retain that power.

— And how they are able to justify atrocities so easily to both themselves and those who do their bidding.

Frankly, I don’t hold any special place in my heart for the victims here, save the children, who are innocents. Because I suspect that given the opportunity, the adults would cheer on my death or the death of my family, and perhaps even hand out candy.

But that’s not the point.

The point is — and I don’t care if this sounds callous or controversial or even politically expedient — our own government, with its well-dressed ruling class growing accustomed to comfortable lives provided by the tax payers, can pass all the gun control measures it wants; a large majority of us simply will refuse to comply with them.

Call it a paranoid contingency plan. And me a paranoid gun nut.

That, I can live with. Especially given the alternative.

They believe the vast majority of people will comply with any legislation they pass, no matter how onerous, as long as the gravy train keeps rolling. We shall see if they are correct.

I find it amusing that I spent my teens/twenties knowingly and intentionally refusing to comply with the law, but then I became “an adult”, and changed my behavior, but now find myself at the point when I am shifting back to the position of knowingly and willfully ignoring new rules as they are made.

If we have now gleaned whatever information we can from KSM, why is that fucker still stealing our air?

Because Obama halted his trial as soon as he got the opportunity.

Which is the graver injustice against the Americans, the crime of their enemy or the malice of their leaders?

  6. bh says:

We gotta go with the latter here, right?

    The last circle is treachery.

Yep, it’s Judas in the mouth of Evil.

  8. bh says:

And, not just the 9th. My Italian is terrible. What’s the Judas area of the ninth?

That’s where we find the malice of our leaders.

  9. bh says:

    Judecca.

  10. sdferr says:

Looking it up (it’s been a long time past, that one) I see what you mean bh. The fourth round in the ninth circle.

Wouldn’t it be terribly tragic if KSM was “mysteriously” knifed during a “spontaneous prison riot” at Gitmo? #pelicanbay

    A little more on topic:

In truth, Barry’s Mideast policy will very likely blow up so spectacularly that the Benghazi debacle will be little more than a footnote.

    Or a Preface…

[It’s a bizarre thing to have to mention but I’m not a global banker/scheming jew sort of commenter. Where others would find Judas to be phonetically interesting in this discussion, I don’t.]

[To explain, I came across a crazy amount of anti-semitic nonsense when I was looking for the answer above. Turns out medieval nonsense is still quite with us.]

Syria’s Foreign Ministry welcomed a US-Russian proposal to resolve the country’s war, saying it was confident key ally Moscow would not change its stance on the conflict.

“Syria welcomes the US-Russian rapprochement… It is confident that the Russian position, which is based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law, will not change,” the ministry said.

    But simultaneously:

US Secretary of State John Kerry insisted Thursday Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will have to step down as part of any political solution in Syria, as he held a third day of talks on the bloody conflict.

Speaking as he met Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Kerry said all sides were working to “effect a transition government by mutual consent of both sides, which clearly means that in our judgment President Assad will not be a component of that transitional government.”

Kerry also officially unveiled $100 million in additional US humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees, almost half of which will go to help Jordan struggling to cope with a tide of people fleeing the 26-month war.

Some 2,000 people are flooding across the border into Jordan every day, and the country now hosts some 525,000 refugees, Judeh said at the start of the talks in Rome.

So Syria must understand that the weak-assed ObaZmites will be deflected by Russia. Or, put another way, that the ObaZmites don’t know shit from shinola.

Israel has warned the United States that Russia plans to sell sophisticated missile systems to Syria that would complicate any foreign intervention there, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Journal reported late Wednesday that Israel had provided information to Washington about the imminent sale to Syria of Russian S-300 missile batteries, advanced ground-to-air weapons that can take out aircraft or guided missiles.

Syria has been a close military ally of Moscow for decades, and Russia has blocked international efforts to isolate President Bashar al-Assad’s regime over its brutal crackdown on a two-year-old rebellion.

The Israeli report said Syria has been making payments on a 2010 deal to buy four batteries from Russia for $900 million, according to the Journal.

The package includes six launchers and 144 missiles, each with a range of 125 miles, it said.

No worries. The US won’t be flying any planes in Syria.

Like Greg Hicks said yesterday, Israel, you’re on your own.
