Democrats get caught using Boston bombing to grow email fundraising list; their response “How DARE you politicize our politicization!” [Darleen Click]

Because everyone just knows you can’t send a “Thank you” to Boston’s first responders without your email and zip code

On Monday, the DNC set up a page for supporters to “Thank Boston’s First Responders,” referencing those who responded to the bombing of the Boston Marathon last week.

The site asks people who want to sign their name to a thank you note from the DNC to submit their name, email address and zip code.

In an email sent Monday, DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz asked supporters to sign on to the card.

“Whether you want to say thanks, share a story about how the past week’s events have affected you, or just let these public servants know that you’ve been thinking about them, I know they’d appreciate hearing from you,” she said.

DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse explained to The Daily Caller in an email that, “Our supporters were looking for an outlet to express their gratitude and support for first responders in the wake of the tragedy in Boston, and collecting messages of thanks to deliver to them we concluded was the best outlet we could give them.”

“What’s disgraceful is that Republicans would stoop so low as to politicize the simple act of thanking the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” he said.

The projection is strong, but not surprising. With the rewrite of last week’s events going full tilt this may seem like another marker along the road; however, the whole First Responders = Public Servants thrust should not be ignored. The first line out of the DNC’s email-gathering effort reads …

Boston police, firefighters, and EMTs risked their lives to keep the people of Boston safe.

… which ignores that much of the first response was from private citizens – other runners and participants in the marathon who ripped down fences, applied tourniquets (even using bare hands to pinch an artery) and moved the injured to medical tents.

And I suppose too many of the doctors and nurses involved were not public union members servants, so they get left off the DNC “thank you” list, too.

We all belong to government except when we don’t.

DWS and Mr. Tinkles are involved? Why am I not surprised?

  2. Libby says:

It’s amazingly freeing to have no shame. You don’t have to play by the rules of decency, which gives you a leg up on your opponents.

there’s a very narrow window to cash in on jeff bauman’s stumps

    this story doesn’t have legs

    – The La Kookaracha simile for these maggots has lots of legs.

  5. happyfeet says:

plenty of maggots to go around Mr. Hunter as, meanwhilst, our friend boehnerfag seeks to cash in on the marathon bombs by using them to shift attention from his cowardly decision to run away from the benghazi investigation

Ummm, isn’t this what they are paid to do, the very definition of the job?

Not that they should not be thanked, but this may be a little over the top.

  7. Car in says:

The paid first responders ran toward what may have been danger but was not. Their lives were thus not at risk .

Over the top. Isn’t it enough to thank them for doing their job?

I think about Mr. Bauman’s words [“bag, saw the guy, looked right at me”] with great sadness. If accounts of the placement and explosion of the second bomb are correct, and if the placement and explosion of the first bomb followed a similar pattern, the people standing nearby who might have noticed an unattended bag — Mr. Bauman, even — would have had as little as a paltry 15 seconds or so from the time the bag hit the ground to the time it blew up. That’s not very long a period to have recognized a danger (supposing someone had done) and react to it to prevent or mitigate an attack.

DWS needs a Sybian donated to her.

    You can’t unsee that picture.

Well, I dunno about you folks, but the first middleman I think of when I want to thank first responders on the other side of the country from me is the DNC. I mean, it’s only natural, right? Googling “how to thank first responders” got me 18,000,000 responses and I’m sure that at least one of them says “Go straight to the DNC, do not pass go.”

You know what else cannot be unseen?

The mental picture of DWS and the sybian.

  13. John Bradley says:

You want to be careful with those things. Run at too high a setting, and Mr. Tinkles just might fall off her head, what with the gyrations and all.

    And no one wants that.

    Gee, thanks.

I know, I know, but I can’t help but think it would do her some good. See also Leftist “womyn” locked into cells with Muslim men with a web cam filming the aftermath. (Leftist “womyn” being taught a painful lesson, or Muslim men driven to suicide?)
