For your consideration

Sure, we can find and arrest al-Qaeda operatives working out of Iraq.  But how exactly does that help us in the important national security work of rescinding Karl Rove’s security clearance?  WHY ARE WE DIVERTING RESOURCES FROM THE REAL WAR ON TERROR, MR BUSH?

Which, it occurs to me I’ve just answered the question I posed here yesterday.  And, y’know, that’s always nice.

  1. RC says:

So, is Karl’s mind-control device at the cleaners or something?  Seems like that would be the easiest way of taking care of this leetle [sic] problem.  smile

  2. Banjo says:

Isn’t it more the case that Rove should be entitled to one of those whistleblower awards for trying to wise the press corps up about Wilson?

  3. Bucko says:

The word inside the beltway is that Dick Durbin will force Karl Rove to wear and bra and tango with Donald Rumsfeld until he confesses his Plame-outing. Truthfully, this is not a torture tactic Durbin is embracing rather its just a little something that’s been lurking in the back of his mind for a few years.

“Remember” as in remember to get a copy of the video when it come out.

  4. Sean M. says:

Wait for it…wait for it…okay, now:

    BECAUSE OF THE HYPOCRISY!

I may not be the sharpest tool in the drawer, knife in the shed, shed in the knife .. ummmm person.  But I did have TS-code word clearance.

Rove’s security clearance would not give him, more accurately Him, access to the ‘means of collecting information’ which is precisely the type of intelligence that Plame’s undercover status would include.

That ‘how and who’ information should have been sanitized out of any reports or any conversations with Rove.

Unless Rove, you know, tortured a CIA person to give him the name of the person who recommended Wilson for the job.  Given the current working definitions of ‘torture’ that might include ‘ask for it in a brusque manner’

The responsibility to protect classified information rests on the people who have the clearance for the material.

That’s one reason by Sandy Berger’s incident is particularly appalling.  His home and study are not the National Archives – it doesn’t matter *that* the things he took were not compromised, it’s that they could have been.

Also, if Sandy Berger is going to cut up the classified material he took a pair of scissors, he *ought* to know that there’s a reason for cross-cut shredders.

  6. Sigivald says:

No, no. “Because of the Hitlerburton!”

  7. Banjo says:

If brusqueness is torture, no wonder Bolton hasn’t been confirmed.

  8. Guvnah says:

    What’s the secret, Peter?

Naturally, I’ll say its the wine.

Mmm… it does go well with the rendition.
