Adam Carolla, outlaw

I tell you, it’s a growing movement, this outlaw! thing.  And that’s because an awakened free people simply isn’t going to accept forever being harangued and maligned by progressive statists (or their Republican counterparts) who believe they are the stewards of all that is good and right, especially when it is becoming increasingly obvious that they are no such thing, but rather are poseurs of  superficial intellect — dangerous, hateful collectivists and serial “banners” who want nothing more than to do away with individuality and the very notions of individual sovereignty and autonomy in favor of creating a “mass” of “economic units” whose lives they presume to manage, control, cajole, coax, and “nudge,” be it through “portion control,” light-bulb mandates, or “high-capacity magazine bans”.

Call it “justifying coercive paternalism.”

Well, Adam Carolla is most definitely one of the awakened.  And he (as I’ve long counseled others do) isn’t taking lightly the charge of racism leveled at him by the liberal press.  Rather than cower and get defensive, Carolla goes on the offense and lays bare the cynical attempt to cast him as a racist — a charge “progressives” level with frightening regularity, mostly as an attempt to avoid having to do the hard work of debating actual arguments.  Which they tend to lose on the merits nearly every time.

The idea is to demonize the messenger in order to delegitimize the message in advance.  And then as a herd they cite each others’ collective delegitimization of the target as a rationale for what they want us to believe is a righteous dismissal of the argument.

The way to defeat this has always been to go on the offensive; counseling us to “watch what we say” so that we don’t give the left “ammunition” to use against us is a losing strategy, particularly inasmuch as it rather ironically counsels that the best way for us to get our message out is to hide our message.

Now’s the time to wake up.  We know what the left is.  And we’re beginning to see more clearly who controls the GOP establishment and where their priorities lie.

Both must be defeated.  Soundly.

Saddle up, folks, and grab your hats and spurs.  Outlaw time is a-nearing.  Yeeeehaaaaw!

It’s one thing to imagine what happens when our neighbors in the classical liberal tradition wake up and realize what’s happened. But can you imagine what would happen if those who’ve been on the receiving end of a century of Progressive malgovernance realized exactly what they’ve been put through, and why?

I’m not sure there’s a scapegoat big enough to save them from that particular backlash.

P.S. Good on Carolla. That’s one epic rant!

  2. That Carolla fellow. Not helpful at all.

    Damn refreshing, though.

If it is useful for you to be considered racist then you are racist. Words don’t mean things. They stir or soothe normalized mobs of stupid/addled grievance units. Conditional access to unearned displays of respect > Bread and Circus. When they ring the bell, if you do not drool, then they will declare you an un-dog and that means no more treats (or more precisely promises of treats). For whom doth the bell toll? It tolls not for thee un-dog. There is no room for you in the circle of polite company.

I don’t know about a century’s worth, but Ceausescu and Mussolini come to mind for some reason.

So, post-election, we(*) were all discussing how we need to “win the culture” or at least fight back at the cultural level, rather than continue to toss billions of dollars at inoffensive moderate squishes, who at best could “lose more slowly”, but mostly just lose, period.

We need more Carolla’s. Here’s a self-made man with the background (dropped out of school, worked a bunch of crappy construction jobs) and fucking language to connect with that average schlub on the street. I’m thinking the white blue-collar union workers that have been abandoned by the modern Democrat party, and any number of gettable 20-30somethings who’ve got their college degree, but no career-path job.

Sure, he’s not going to be perfect, and (being at heart a-political and not necessarily well-versed in founding principles etc.) he’s likely to say things that aren’t helpful (from our perspective), but still… anyone who’s willing to push back against the encroachment of an ever-growing state is to be welcomed and encouraged.

(*) For large-ish, if not 100% values of ‘we’, you pedantic bastards…

  7. cranky-d says:

Carolla did not drop out of high school. He barely finished it, though.

  8. Squid says:

He certainly didn’t learn the lessons they wanted him to…

  9. I think the deal was that they wouldn’t give him his diploma because he had some overdue library books.

  10. leigh says:

    Adam Carolla is a gun-grabber:

” He goes on to state, however, that he is also in favor of traditionally libertarian causes such as the legalization of marijuana and some progressive causes such as “… [being] against semi-automatic and automatic weapons. I’m not an NRA guy by any stretch of the imagination. I’d like alternative energy to be explored and electric cars to be used, but I want them to be powered by nuclear power plants.”[84] (He is a member of the advisory board of the Marijuana Policy Project).[1] Elsewhere he has stated that “My feeling is this whole country is founded on the principle of ‘if you are not hurting anyone, and you’re not fucking with someone else’s shit, and you are paying your taxes, you should be able to just do what you want to do.’ It’s the freedom and the independence.”

  11. cranky-d says:

Yeah, his gun positions are really quite stupid. He needs some education on that subject. On the other hand, his father in law gave him a bunch of guns, and he has gone to shoot them a few times, and said he had fun doing it.

    So there is some hope.

  12. leigh says:

Maybe he’ll evolve on the issue. He does have a son and a daughter who are quite young. Maybe they could learn together.

It was talking about airports so I left.
