“BREAKING: Colorado Anti-Second Amendment Legislator’s Criminal Record Exposed” [2x updated]

That would be Rep Rhonda Fields, who in my viewing of the House assembly debates distinguished herself as being one of the stupidest people to win a seat of power anywhere, ever, in the history of always.

RedState:

According to a Colorado Bureau of Investigations report obtained by Media Trackers, State Representative Rhonda Fields (D-Aurora) was arrested in 1976 on a charge of larceny and again in 1991 on a charge of shoplifting. Despite her own criminal record, Rep. Fields has sought to limit the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

[…]

Rep. Fields has sponsored multiple gun control bills currently under debate in the Colorado Legislature, including legislation to ban on magazines with the capacity to hold more that 15 roundscriminalize the private sale or transfer of a firearm without a background check ,ban on concealed carry permits on the college campuses, and increase background check fees.

Fields has also co-sponsored Sen. Evie Hudak’s legislation which would not only strip anyone subject to a restraining order of their Second Amendment rights, but would also require the same to relinquish any firearms they own to the state.

Sen. Hudak has recently been in the national spotlight for remarks she made to rape survivor Amanda Collins. During testimony from Collins which detailed how her attacker was able to target her while she was unarmed due to a campus ban on concealed carry in Nevada, Hudak told Collins that “actually statistics are not on your side even if you had a gun.”

Additionally, Fields was the sole sponsor in the House to sign on to Sen. John Morse’s (D-Colorado Springs) legislation to institute civil liability on firearms manufacturers, sellers, and owner for any damage incurred through the use of their firearms.

Despite her criminal history, Rep. Fields has previously received campaign donations from the Aurora Police Association.

Media Trackers attempted to contact Fields at her office multiple times, but the Representative was unavailable for comment as the calls were unanswered.

Frankly, this doesn’t much move me — though it does speak to the vetting of Democrat candidates for public office (or at least, people’s attention to such things; apparently Fields admitted to the crimes in 2010, a report on which was published in the Denver Post).  And I’m hardly surprised that a person arrested twice for criminal behavior, once given political power, would work to restrict the rights of those non-criminals wishing to protect themselves against, well, people who engage in criminal behavior.

In the final analysis, there’s only one crime Fields has committed that concerns me (having not myself been duped into voting for her):  and that’s the crime she’s committing now against the Constitution, betraying her oath in an effort to significantly weaken the natural rights of Colorado citizens.

For that, I believe she should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.  Even one she’s shoplifted.

Remember this tomorrow, when the Colorado Senate debates the fate that Rep Fields, VP Biden, Barack Obama, and a host of cowardly, petty-tyrannical Democrats have decided is in store for us.

From which Party? Different standards you know.

    I’ll say

One of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s top gun-control lobbyists in Colorado appears to enjoy firing the very guns he is working to restrict.

Denver-based Headwaters Strategies lobbyist Adam Eichberg participated at a “watermelon shoot” in September 2012 at the farm of Colorado state Sen. Greg Brophy (R.) where he fired a semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine.

    […]

Brophy said it was not just Eichberg who wanted to pop off a few rounds at immobile melon targets. Democratic Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper also asked to be invited to the melon shoot, he said.

“To top it all off, a week after we did the watermelon shoot this last year, the governor was out in eastern Colorado doing a bike tour,” Brophy said. “And the governor comes to my house on Friday night and practically begs to come to my melon shoot next year. A few months later he’s in contact with Bloomberg’s group and planning gun-control measures in Colorado.”

Makes perfect sense, if you understand that in a noble/peasant society the nobles are always the only ones allowed to have weapons.

It could be argued that the the relatively high degree of freedom of Englishmen (and, indirectly, us) came about due to the country’s small size, which required training peasants to be longbowmen. The effect was devastating at Crecy.

  8. She’s a serial scofflaw, yet, publicly proclaims that the solution to gun violence is more laws, which she and other scofflaws like her will clearly respect and obey.

Leads me to think that when our good host says she is “one of the stupidest people to win a seat of power anywhere, ever, in the history of always,” he’s diplomatically understating the case.
