This is what “Molon Labe” looks like on steroids

“Americans Buy Enough Guns in Last Two Months to Outfit the Entire Chinese and Indian Armies”.   God bless the rednecks, eh?  And bless Barack Obama for reminding us of the 2nd Amendment principle that Americans should indeed be armed, and present themselves as a corporate force against any threat to the Constitution and their individual liberties.

Still, I wonder how many of those firearms were in fact purchased by blustery liberal gun-grabbers who, somewhere in the back of their minds, realize that turning people into slaves to the state might not be as easy, in the final stages before Utopia, as they thought it’d be.  And now those firearms are just sitting in sock drawers trigger locked, with their new, gun-shy owners untrained in their usage terrified to reach for that pair of partially-silk argyles.

Paper law can do a lot, provided people agree to follow it.  But when the rule of law breaks down — David Gregory isn’t charged by some former SF guy is; Andrew Sullivan can have pot charges disappear, but some urban youth takes his third strike for a dime bag — and people recognize that the law is being used not to promote a consistent and stable platform for governance, but rather as the weapon of the oppressor who holds himself above the law, well, that paper is no longer worth the paper its papered on.

We have a rule by men, not laws. Laws are for the little people.

    Suck on it, peasents!

  2. Ernst Schreiber says:

As Glenn Reynolds has been want to observe lately, it’s hard to hide behind the law when you hold yourself above it.

Whatever they’re gong to announce tomorrow is going to be bad.

They’re planning to hide behind children!

  3. Ernst Schreiber says:

President Obama will unveil a sweeping set of gun-control proposals … including an assault weapons ban, universal background checks and limits on the number of bullets that ammunition clips can hold, according to sources familiar with the plans.

The announcement … is also expected to include a slate of up to 19 executive actions that the Obama administration can take on its own to attempt to limit gun violence.

The White House has invited key lawmakers as well as gun-control advocates to appear at Wednesday’s policy rollout, according to two officials who have been invited to the event.

Joining Obama and Vice President Biden for the announcement will be children from across the country who wrote Obama letters after last month’s elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.[.]

    Rand Paul on executive orders.

  5. JHoward says:

    Does ban = no grandfathering?

  6. Ernst Schreiber says:

No idea JHo, but bear in mind, that’s exactly what DiFi wants.

  7. sdferr says:

Ah, human shields again. Figures. Well, given his affinity with Islamists, that is.

  8. geoffb says:

The “grandfathering” plus the no passing on when owner dies is simply a slow speed ban just as the closing of the register on new full-auto guns in 1986 guarantees that they too will slowly be eliminated from private hands.

  9. geoffb says:

    Should be “no grandfathering” above.

  10. Ernst Schreiber says:

    Heh.

Rush just dropped the “human shields” line.

    Maybe he does lurk.

  11. sdferr says:

Ha. Didn’t catch it, as I was busy contemplating english muffins.

  12. cranky-d says:

DiFi wants semi-autos to be treated just like full-autos are right now. I don’t think they can get such a law passed right now, but they will keep trying.

  13. Ernst Schreiber says:

They don’t need a law. They got the Padishah Emperor Obama the Dreddful.

    His word is the law.

  14. sdferr says:

Sen. Feinstein never stops to think how she herself may be treated, supposing say, she finds herself labeled uncomfortably as an anti-Constitutional blood-sucker.

  15. cranky-d says:

I’m trying to walk a fine line between not worrying too much and dredging the lake for all those guns I lost.

  16. cranky-d says:

Again demonstrating a remarkable lack of scientific knowledge, they printed a full revolver all at once on a recent CSI NY.

  17. In this case the human shields are deployed to deflect criticism. Who can argue with a guy who uses children as political props, I mean who cares about children so much?

  18. Ernst Schreiber says:

At least it blew up cranky.

  19. cranky-d says:

True, Ernst, but they claimed in passing that it blew up because it was used before it was heat treated, as if you could heat-treat powdered metal bonded with polymers.

It wasn’t the worst service they have done to science in general, but it was the worst one for guns since they picked up a 30 cal and claimed to know it was definitely fired from an AK-47.

  20. Ernst Schreiber says:

maybe they just assumed only somebody with a crappy AK would run that russian bi-metal jacketed crap

  21. Slartibartfast says:

Even if you made it from laser-sintered aluminum, it’d still blow up, most likely.

I think we’re a ways off from 3D printed weapons. Not least of which is that the mechanical resolution you can get from printers in any foreseeable future requires machining to achieve final form and tolerance, for any degree of precision.

Which is probably the case for gun barrels, slides, gas cylinders, etc.

You can be sure he won’t surround himself with little ones when he plows through the debt ceiling.

  23. Squid says:

If only we had a press corps that could make that observation, Pablo.

They are the lucky survivors of “choice’s” lottery who became burdens to their unlucky poor Julias. This is the least they can do to repay them and their messiah. Umm, Ummm, Ummmm.

West Virginia has their very own John Kerry clone now.

Sen. Joe Manchin, who once shot a copy of the cap-and-trade bill through with a rifle in a campaign ad to prove his down-home bona fides, is apparently looking to change that. In the month since Newtown, Manchin has been pro-gun control, then back to pro-gun, then at a No Labels event, presumably because his opportunistic flip-flopping defies ideological classification.

Will there ever come a time when it becomes common knowledge everywhere that Democrats always are on the far left and only wear the mask of “conservative” if needed to fool the hicks from the sticks. Or the more urbane hicks too.

Apparently Piers Morgan wants another shot at Ben Shaprio, this time with Ben’s arms tied behind his back in a stacked town-hall environment. Because that’s what a tough guy does after getting knocked down. Try to stage a phony comeback.

It seems that Twitter is now mainly a playground for pissed off celebrities who feel the need to talk a bit of shit.

Actually, no, Slart, the form and tolerance aren’t really all that close, unless you’re going for a sniper rifle; that’s why a jack-leg mechanic with a foot treadle powered drill in Peshawar can make an AK-47. And even with the aforementioned sniper rifle, someone who’s spent a few years shooting with a particular weapon can compensate for a lot.

Counteroffer: Shapiro debates Morgan at the next NRA convention.
