*still, I quite enjoyed it. There is something awfully appealing comedically in the way Anderson crafts his dialogue. It’s just slightly off—signaling, as do many of his visual stylistic touches, that the world we’re watching runs just slightly parallel to the one in which we live.
Just watched it last night; I enjoyed it too, although only mildly. Just a bit bland. Funny, but not too funny, etc.
I agree about the mild surrealism…none of the fish in the film were real…but they sure looked like they could exist.
Agreed. Speaking of which, the bosoms on that “Say Anything” girl are also slightly surreal.

“Globes”?
Boob.
I loved Rushmore and Bottle Rocket, but when I saw the trailer and the cute deadpan expressionless acting, I decided to quit while I was ahead with Wes.
Naw, Patricia, it’s good fun. Not so much laugh out loud funny (I don’t think any of his movies are, not so much), but a good pleasurable watch. It feels good on the brain.
What role did Bud Cort play, and wasn’t he Harold in Harold and Maude?
That’s the guy. He was the Bond Company Stooge.
I thought it was spotty. But that was probably intentional.
Anyway that’s my “reaction.”
And that girl’s breasts look like they hurt.
Could use the cleavage to open beer bottles. Or, if she’s on her side, to crack open walnuts.
is it just me or does she appear to be propped up so she won’t fall forward?
The blogad broad looks like two bald guys standing together. And I thought Willem Dafoe was a hoot as the sniveling Deutscher in The Life Aquatic..

Just on Jeff’s advice – I believe I will watch
Agreed, Pedantius. I thought Willem Dafoe was the best thing in the movie.
Not to be prickly, but Bill Murray is about the only thing common to both movies. Sofia Coppola completely cops out at the end of her movie; Wes doesn’t.
I agree that Dafoe is a highlight, but so was Cate Blanchett in her own way.

well, that’s one i’ll probably have to wait til RTO is out of the country to watch. (or does lots of stuff blow up? cause then i could probably talk him into it.)
