A thought

Speaker Boehner has now signaled that he’s willing to consider gun control, raise taxes on “the rich”, and allow the President’s spending spree to continue with no cuts in sight.

Doesn’t that make the leadership of the Republican Party in the House, you know, Democrats?

Think of more as a coming out of the closet moment. We should send out a “burn notice.”

heh, and us, comparatively, the Christians in Syria.

    – I don’t for a moment meab to rain on our pity-pot parade, but I think things are notas bleak as might first be apparent. For instance I’m not sure if you seen this thing with SS tying COLA’s to CPI chaining insteads of the old way of tying it to the COL index, the new approach greatly lowering future SS COLA increases, which will really hit the e;der;y what with inflation jumping every time the Gov. prints more worthless paper.

    – Anyway it seems Ms Pill-lousy is all for it, as is Jug ears, and the hive at HuffPoop are going batshit over it, and starting to complain about several other “promises” that have not been kept by the Won,

    – Apparently the moron clan is slowly beginning to realize they’ve been had.

he has his congresswhore pension in the bag and he would make such a wonderful lobbyist and make so much more money

I think he’s just afraid of change

  7. leigh says:

We’ve been talking about that here at the ranch, BBH. Hubs is pissed. He’s already getting hosed on his military pension, now this. Plus co-pays on meds/doc visits have tripled.

Why yes, I believe that does.

I do have to confess, however, that I get a wee bit of schadenfreude out of Boehner pimping the Pelosi Plan. Of course, he’s all about compromise and conscensus, so he doesn’t actually want to call it the Pelosi Plan, even though that’s exactly what it is.

Now, if only he could bring himself to force her caucus into rejecting a plan that was perfectly acceptable to them last spring, and then pass a permanent tax cut and adjourn the House. But he won’t.

Because, as Levin implied this evening, he’s a whore.

  9. Danger says:

    Yes,

    What?
Was that supposed to be rhetorical?

  10. William says:

Well, that’s the problem with all of this. It’s too stupid to work. But it’s just stupid enough to collapse and make everyone miserable.

I can’t believe Obama is getting away with this … fucking asshole USING Newton massacre to make Republicans bad guys if they don’t bend over and let him have his way

OBAMA: If this past week has done anything it should give us some perspective. I-I-I-If there’s one thing we should have, after this week, it should be a sense of perspective about what’s important. And I would like to think that members of that caucus would say to themselves “You know what, I disagree with the president on some things. We wish the other guy had won. We’re gonna fight him on a whole range of issues over the next four years. We think his philosophy is all screwed up. But right now, what the country needs is for us to compromise, get a deficit reduction deal in place, make sure middle class taxes don’t go up, make sure that we’re laying the foundations for growth, give certainty to businesses large and small, not put ourselves through some sort of self-inflicted crisis every six months, allow ourselves time to focus on things like preventing the tragedy in Newtown from happening again, focus on issues like energy and immigration reform, all the things that will make a determination as to whether our country grows over the next four years, ten years, 20 years, and if we could just pull back from the immediate political battles, if ya peel off the partisan war paint, then we should be able to get something done.”

I think, I think the Speaker would like to get that done. But an environment needs to be created not just among House Republicans but among Senate Republicans that says the campaign is over and let’s see if we can do what’s right for the country, at least for the next month! And then, we can re-engage in all the other battles that they’ll wanna fight.

    Better luck boating this time.

It’s such a shame when valuable property is lost like that.

  15. cranky-d says:

I have incredibly bad luck, so it is quite possible that the new stuff will be lost soon.

If they had any balls this would be a great excuse to say “With all due respect Mr. president, for the office itself, if not you as a person, screw you. These kids did not die to conveniently roll over your political opposition. Their lives were taken by a lunatic who wasn’t stopped by the kind of laws you want to punish innocent gun owners with. Their parents are in pain! Try to have some class and real compassion for once you sick little worm! We in the House have had enough, too much really, of your sad, pathetic, cynical, heartless exploitation of the misery of American citizens most of which has been the direct result of your ignorant backward Carter-esque policies. This negotiation is over. Let’s live under your democrat tax rates again and when the people want Bush’s tax rate back we’ll be right here. and EVERYONE will get those tax rates. Not just the 98% or whatever the silly cooked number it. EVERYONE. “

  17. Ernst Schreiber says:

I know just what you mean. Which is why I wouldn’t waste my money.

Even if I hadn’t been conditioned by aversion therapy in loathing guns which are harmful to women and children and other living things. And arms are for hugging.

President Obama on Wednesday urged Congress to vote on measures banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines and requiring background checks before any firearm sale,

“This time, the words need to lead to action,” Obama said. He added: “We know this is a complex issue that stirs deeply held passions and political divides. .?.?. But the fact that this problem is complex can no longer be an excuse for doing nothing.”
    […]
White House officials say the package of proposals is almost certain to include new restrictions on guns, particularly assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. But aides said it will also probably include mental-health initiatives and, as Obama noted Wednesday, a close look “at a culture that, all too often, glorifies guns and violence.”
    […]
Obama reiterated his support for the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms but said the country’s leaders need to find ways to keep “weapons of war” out of the hands of the irresponsible few.

“There is a big chunk of space between what the Second Amendment means and having no rules at all, and that space is what Joe’s going to be working on to try to identify where we’ll find some common ground,” Obama said.

  22. Ernst Schreiber says:

Obama says “common ground” the same way he says “balanced approach.”

Too bad nobody in the groveling lickspittle media is going to try to pin him down on what he thinks the Second “means.”

  25. Matt says:

There’s too much of the “I have to do something” mentality going on with the Republicans right now. I can only think they’re doing this to appeal to so called moderates- like the GOP had a big meeting after the election and decided to smooth the “rough edges” of Republican policies, like gun control and taxes on the rich. Hey, next up, maybe the Republicans can get on board to combat global warming … =/

Its incredibly frustrating and I don’t think it bodes well for their re-election chances- it wasn’t the moderates that stayed home in November.

  26. Matt says:

Its the height of irony that President Putt is telling us to remember that the “campaign is over”. Physician heal thyself.
