He was best known for his role as J.R. Ewing in the television show Dallas that ran from 1978 to 1991, but I’ll always think of him as astronaut Tony Nelson in I Dream of Jeannie (1965-70).
Hagman passed away today, at the age of 81

His best work was on I Dream of Jeanne and not Dallas RIP Larry.
Looking at his mom’s wiki-bio, I see she established a dance school when she was starting out, in Mineral Wells, Tx., Ric Locke’s home. The family seems to have been from the next town east, Weatherford.
Back in the late 70s Dallas was family evening viewing for us, and every other family in Britain. Hey, we only had three channels to choose from. Larry was a great baddie. “You’re a drunk, a tramp and an unfit mother.”
I went through mineral wells on way out here
the centerpiece of the town is this hulking and beautiful rotting husk of an abandoned resort hotel
now basically they do some sorta “crazy water” fest every year… poor little place looked like it could use some friends
I never cared for Larry Hagman’s shows and he was kind of a weirdo in real life. His mother was very talented (Peter Pan!) and so cute.
He did hang in a lot longer than I expected him to after he had his liver transplant.
RIP Larry.
In real life he stiffed a contractor buddy of mine (who took him to court and won).
People like that don’t get an RIP from me.
My dad was a contractor, SteveG.
I retract my RIP.
I give him to God without petition.
My religion sets Jesus as sort of a gatekeeper of heaven and everything gets sorted out by him anyway.
Unlike our fundamentalist Islamic brethren who seem to think the whole thing is done by shouting, screaming, lobbing rockets, bombing school buses and annihilating Jews… but I digress…
He was kind of an asshole.
Says a buddy of mine who waited on him one time.
