Cope Reynolds, the owner of Southwest Shooting Authority, a gun store located in Pinetop, Arizona, took out a full page ad in a local newspaper that read: “If you voted for Barack Obama your business is not welcome.”
The New York Daily News reports that Mr. Reynolds also posted a sign on the store’s front door:
“If you voted for Obama, please turn around and leave! You have proven you are not responsible enough to own a firearm.”
It is not known how Reynolds will identify Obama supporters and it doesn’t seem likely that one would admit to having voted to reelect the president if they wish to purchase a gun at his store.
In an emailed statement, Reynolds wrote: “Obviously, this is nothing more than a political statement. Of course, it would be impossible to enforce. If they don’t say anything, we’ll never know. They could purchase whatever they wanted, and they would probably get a big kick out of thinking they are rubbing it in our face as they walk out the door.”
Despite Mr. Reynold’s personal attempt at “gun control,” it has been widely reported that gun sales are on the rise though the reason behind demand varies from source to source. One theory suggests that citizens are stockpiling arms out of concern that President Barack Obama will tighten regulations on assault weapons, even ban them outright in his second term.
Ironically, the left wishes to boycott businesses that layoff workers as a result of Obama policies. But when they’re given the opportunity to boycott a business without having to do anything other than vote their conscience (or with their wallets) and admit their positions, they’ll suddenly discover just how unfair it is for a business to have a political agenda.
Chick-fil-a bad; Southwest Shooting Authority bad; Koch industries bad. But Hollywood? Pure and impassioned and politically forward thinking! So good and righteous!
Being an anti-foundationalist means never having to say you’re sorry. Or even admit that someone has a right to demand you explain your hypocrisy.
Nice gig if you can get it.
Perhaps the shop owner could ask to look at the buyer’s car to see if it has an Obama bumper sticker on it. You know, sort of the same way a small business owner should examine his employees to see who needs to be laid off.
“Sorry, we don’t sell weapons to idiots.”
A good idea at any time. There are a LOT of idiots in the world, some of whome have trouble walking and talking at the same time, to say nothing of “breathe, release, hold, squeeze”
Pinetop is a beautiful high-country community nestled in the heart of Arizona’s White Mountains. Loved it when I lived there.
Well, they did vote for dependency,
and since children and firearms don’t mix….
ban assault weapons
Sheesh. It’s already pretty hard to buy an actual “assault weapon”. What the Progressives and other sissies want to ban is weapons that look like assault weapons.
They only people who can afford to buy ammo in any dangerous quantity to feed a true assault weapon are either governments or criminals, both of whom have no problem getting them.
Restricting them is stupid.
You know what I really like about this story? An Arizona gunstore owner figured out a way to make a New York reporter put gun contol in scare quotes.

Ron Paul on secession. State’s rights and Federal Reserve policy: that’s two primary issues I can agree with him on.
Someone really should write a book about gun laws, gun history, safe gun operation, gun crime, gun laws and other sundries and title it: ” Lots of Stuff Your Dumb Ignorant Gullible City Ass Doesn’t Know About Real Life Guns But Probably Should “
“Chick-fil-a bad”
Bit your (italics) tongue Mr!
The inventor of the Chicken Sandwich (and tasty waffle fries) will not be used in vain ;)
“They only people who can afford to
buy ammo in any dangerous quantity to feed a true assault weaponsupport Obama’s policies are either governments or criminals,”Fixed that for ya Crankster.
Sootch is pretty ticked off. Don’t think he has an Obama bumper sticker.
