Benghazi Cover-up: Hillary not going to go under the bus quietly [Darleen Click]

Heh

Today the confusion only worsened yet again when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters that her agency was not the source of misinformation concerning the attacks, charging instead that the White House was the source of the false mantra that the murders were spurred by an anti-Muslim film made in the United States.

Clinton told reporters that when Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made her rounds on every Sunday morning news show to claim the film motivated the attacks, the information had been fed to her by the White House and not the intelligence community in the State Department or the CIA.

Not only does Clinton’s statement contradict early White House accounts but directly contradicts statements made by Vice President Biden during the debate.

Still time to get more Satchel popcorn and enjoy the show.

  1. Blake says:

The Clinton’s have just gone to war against the Obama machine.

I want Obama’s clock cleaned and the Clinton’s damaged to the point they’ll never be in office again.

  2. sdferr says:

Look carefully. Clinton says where Rice got the story from, not who originated the story, i.e. where the White House got the story from (which I think she knows very well, and it’s not the White House).

  3. geoffb says:

    OT a bit question.

CBS did a video report from the “annex/safe house” that was attacked. In it they showed a closeup of the tail-fins of an exploded mortar round that fell there. To my non-expert eyes the fin profile resembles that of a Russian 82mm. I have a jpg of it. Is anyone here experienced in identifying ordnance of this type and if so could I send you the picture?

  4. McGehee says:

Geoffb, I trust you will apprise us of your findings.

  5. geoffb says:

    Yes.

  6. Libby says:

Hillary herself blamed video in her speech at Andrews AFB – the one in front of the caskets. She said this:

“This has been a difficult week for the State Department and for our country. We’ve seen the heavy assault on our post in Benghazi that took the lives of those brave men. We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful internet video that we had nothing to do with. …” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dILA8tz2bjk

Her defense isn’t gonna work. But maybe she’ll do us a favor and make sure Obama goes down for this fiasco, too.

  7. BigBangHunter says:

    – The end may finally be in sight for drum circles, #Occupy someone Else’s money, and Kumbaya diplomacy.

    – We may never get to see a second debate.

  8. BigBangHunter says:

    – She may well have been threatened to say that. Remember, as Leigh pointed out, Hill refused to even look at Obama in that video.

  9. TmjUtah says:

Twelve fins =Commbloc 82mm. Most common tube artillery on the planet, probably.

  10. leigh says:

Hill isn’t going to tank her career for Jughead.

Watch, later this week, say Wednesday after the debate, she calls a “hasty” news conference wherein she says that after battling with her conscience and much prayerful reflection (hey, I’m just saying what she may say, not that it’s true of course) she has decided to be “honest with the American people.”

It’ll be a twofer. She will resign and cooperate with Issa’s commission thus casting herself as a modern day Joan d’Arc.

    Obama will be torpedoed.

  11. TmjUtah says:

leigh, I don’t doubt that Hillary will go full monte to avoid responsibility.

But where’s the profit in “torpedoing” The Won? He’s done.

He will be a topic of conversation among people who observe Memory Hole Phenomena but little else.

All MSM/establishment elitists/pop culture denizens will want is for him to go away – so they might not be held responsible for their choices.

  12. geoffb says:

It is hard to say from the angle, but 12 fins look like the number. Could be 10 though if there is such a thing.

  13. BigBangHunter says:

    – Now we have a pretty good idea of where Rice popped out of nowhere from. Hillery went along with the coffin farce, but refused to go any further in the lie and cover-ups personally, so they had to use Rice to deliver the phoney narrative.

    – Rice is through, along with anyone in the chain of command who rejected the security requests.

I don’t know if Hillery can survive this, but Bill won’t let Bummblefuck off the hook after Obama scape-goated her. If he has to go on national prime time TV and call Obama a fucking liar he will.

= All this at the most critical time in a presidential campaign.

  14. Libby says:

Susan Rice was in line to be Sec. of State in Obama’s 2nd term. Hillary told CNN’s Blitzer last year that she would not continue on in that role, and that this was her “last public position.” Maybe this is why Obama & Biden thought they could pin the blame on Hillary. Bad move, guys.

  15. happyfeet says:

i remember that film that was the film Obama begged YouTube to take down and they told him to fuck off

  16. leigh says:

But where’s the profit in “torpedoing” The Won? He’s done.

Personal satisfaction. She was robbed last time around and it still sticks in her craw.

As you say, he’ll get a mention in the history books and probably a stamp when he’s dead. She wants to be a heroine and larger than life.

Bless her heart, the old hag.

  17. BigBangHunter says:

    – This whole LibyaGate has monstrous implications for the Lefturds.

    – Even as they were girding themselves for an Obama loss they were quietly hopeful that Hillery would be the heir apparent because they have no one, not one politician you could name, in any position to run in 2016, other than her.

= How ironic would it be if the entire house of cards was brought down from the same scandal.

  18. B Moe says:

Even as they were girding themselves for an Obama loss they were quietly hopeful that Hillery would be the heir apparent because they have no one, not one politician you could name, in any position to run in 2016, other than her.

That is the thing I have never understood about Biden as VP. Even if Obama wins, wouldn’t you want a VP that had a reasonable chance as a successor? Only thing I can figure is they see him as kind of a Cheney figure, as hilarious as that is.

  19. leigh says:

So, what will happen after the Wonce gets trounced and leaves office? Surely we aren’t the only people who want the curtain pulled off all the shenanigans. I’m talking starting all the way back to stealing the nomination in 2008.

I’ve read that Mechelle has political ambitions. We need drive a stake through the heart of that idea.

  20. John Bradley says:

But she’s a natural… she’s just so warm and likable!

  21. leigh says:

I know John! It’s like America is just down right mean!

After all the sacrificin’ she’s done over the last four years, we owe it to her.

  22. BigBangHunter says:

The sacrificin’ she’s done over the last four years has topped 1 billion tax dollars.

    – She be sacrifin’ all over the fk’n place.

  23. BigBangHunter says:

    – The reason I brought it up, this situation represents a total diametric support quandary for the Lefturds.

    – As the scandal grows and plays out who do they support and protect?

  24. BigBangHunter says:

    – As far as Biden, hes as close to the POTUS as he’ll ever get, barring some unforeseen occurrence between now and January,

    – He was hired as the resident attack dog, and nothing else. Hillery was the great white hope from day one. In fact its probable she was offered a 2016 run just to get her out of the way in 2008. That was pretty much confirmed with the State Dept. position later.

    CONFIRMED.

WILL HAVE IT AVAILABLE TO READERS WITHIN NEXT 48 HRS.

  26. sdferr says:

I had thought Biden was hired simply because he was one of the few pols available who is objectively dummer than Obama, who doesn’t like actually competitive situations.

  27. Ernst Schreiber says:

Oh for Pete’s sake. Everyone knows Biden was a life insurance policy.

  28. Libby says:

nr – the blind sheik trade is certainly plausible. Morsi wanted him released, and back in July, the sheik’s son announced that he would overtake the US embassy in Egypt and trade his captives for his dad: http://tinyurl.com/ctsdesl

Michelle Obama has a history of not working very hard (http://tinyurl.com/8fwq5gv). I doubt she’d seek out elective office, but she’d certainly love something more ceremonial and/or unaccountable, such as Nutrition Czar.

  29. leigh says:

… he was one of the few pols available who is objectively dummer than Obama, who doesn’t like actually competitive situations.

Oh for Pete’s sake. Everyone knows Biden was a life insurance policy.

    I’d say you’re both right.

  30. beemoe says:

I don’t know about that NRO deal. Would have letting an Ambassador get kidnapped then trading him for a terrorist really have been a feather in Obama’s cap?

  31. sdferr says:

I think the jihadis mostly wanted to kill spooks on 9/11 Bmoe, and the Ambassador was an easy target of opportunity who they may or may not have known was present in Benghazi.

  32. newrouter says:

Would have letting an Ambassador get kidnapped then trading him for a terrorist really have been a feather in Obama’s cap?

to someone who pass a couple of times on offing bin laden it would?

  33. beemoe says:

That is what I am thinking, I am not buying the conspiracy gone bad deal.

  34. sdferr says:

More Rommel’s car getting strafed in France than Yamamoto’s plane being shot down in the Pacific, to draw a rough analogy.

  35. McGehee says:

After all the sacrificin’ she’s done over the last four years

    Raaaaacist!

….you did mean human sacrificin’, even if you didn’t know it. Because raaaaacism.

  36. newrouter says:

” I am not buying the conspiracy gone bad deal”

doing an autopsy of an event isn’t a conspiracy theory

  37. newrouter says:

baracky in the oval office with a muslim brotherhood nail clipper is a conspiracy theory

  38. BigBangHunter says:

    – So they had CIA assets at the consulate, and the video gave them a cover story, but they jumped the shark when they decided to use State/Hillary as the scape goat.

  39. leigh says:

Althouse remembers she is a lawyer and this story stinks like week old fish in the sun.

  40. BigBangHunter says:

    – BTW, if that’s the case, the CIA thing, then the fuckers, including Jug ears, definitely knew the whole situation from the git go.

    – Now hes completely trapped. No wonder they’re in total panic and knee jerk mode.

    – Hillary just said no damn way Obozo.

  41. keninnorcal says:

The popcorn goes down with the dumb f’s that are still undecided. Like a certain Ann:

Bush is such a convenient punching bag. Many Republicans leverage moderating-seeming comments off what they assume is our rejection of Bush. I wonder how many of us there are who really do appreciate what Bush did and would like to see him brought in from out in the cold. (Instapundit)

Appreciate? Since when ? By voting for his polar opposite and entertaining the thought of voting for him again? Goddamn…tell me what it feels like for those that didn’t appreciate him.

  42. newrouter says:

    what Bush did

give the proggtards an inch which meant the proggtards could go a mile?

  43. leigh says:

    Because raaaaacism.

Heh. McGehee, did you hear Mark Sanford (ex-governor) say that Obama has a “lot of spears to throw”?

    Sheesh. Talk about raaaaaaaaaacist.

  44. BigBangHunter says:

    – I think the WH chucker has thrown one to many.

    – Taking aim at Hillary was a biiiiig mistake.

  45. leigh says:

Yup, BBH. Someone should have reminded him that Hill was born in Chicago.

He shouldn’t try to teach his grandma to suck eggs.

  46. BigBangHunter says:

    – I’m watching the Lefturd panic. It almost makes up a little for the last 4 years.

    – HuffPoop is showing the pressure. Now when you drop a bomb in their posts, they just take them down after getting a wall of lambasts. All the air has gone out of their Marxist balloon.

  47. sdferr says:

Stan Brakhage’s “The Act of Seeing With One’s Own Eyes” is posted on YouTube, for anyone interested in actual autopsy. But bear in mind it involves matter of fact dead people, lots of measuring, poking, probing, scalpels, bonesaws, ribcrackers, viscera, brains, fluids and other autopsy stuff. And no answers.

  48. leigh says:

    Sounds awesome. I love forensics.

  49. BigBangHunter says:

    – Every Sunday they have a young nobody that does a review of the talking heads news shows.

    – Even he was having a problem not barfing, and his readers were not being kind, ragging him for being a “truther”, and all all the usual Prog bullshit. Then several of us dropped bombs and it just went from bad to worse. One of mine:

So is that what Obama was doing when he stood over the coffins of four dead Americans and repeated a lie, using their bodies as a ‘political tool’?

    – Hillary was obviously stressed out and under duress. She wouldn’t even look at him.

    – She must have drawn a line in the sand, so they had to rush Rice out there to continue the lies, the cherished narrative

    – After about an hour of that, and the lame crap responses they just pulled the whole post. and they still haven’t made a peep about Hillary’s statements.

  50. sdferr says:

Which one of these things is not like the others?

David Petraeus saying the Benghazi attacks were the result of a crowd going ape over a video.

Barack Obama saying the Benghazi attacks were the result of a crowd going ape over a video.

Hillary Clinton saying the Benghazi attacks were the result of a crowd going ape over a video.

Think of it as if it were a roman a clef.

  51. Pablo says:

    – So they had CIA assets at the consulate, and the video gave them a cover story, but they jumped the shark when they decided to use State/Hillary as the scape goat.

Note State’s background press call, the night before the hearings. No protests, no video.

So, since when do you publish a transcript of “on background” conversations? Somebody’s bus has been hijacked.

  52. BigBangHunter says:

    – I could believe the second one was intentional, whereas the first and third were coerced.

  53. sdferr says:

What is true about espionage? How about that it is entrusted to lie in the nation’s service?

Y’know: “Hey, when is D-Day going off and where?” “Ah, yes, you mean the invasion of Europe due to fire off in Belgium on July 22nd, 1944? Oh wait, we weren’t supposed to let that slip.”

  54. newrouter says:

    And no answers.

    then why do it?

  55. sdferr says:

Brakhage was interested in the seeing part, I think, more than the outcomes of the investigations. But I could easily be wrong about that.

  56. newrouter says:

“Hey, when is D-Day going off and where?”

    ask patton he knows.

  57. leigh says:

Say, where is David Petraeus? Has anyone called him up lately?

    Darrell Issa, perhaps?

  58. BigBangHunter says:

    – Axelrod gave another ‘clarification’ today on one of the Sunday news shows that was total double-talk incoherent nonsense.

  59. BigBangHunter says:

    – From your link nr:

Unreal… Obama Administration Didn’t Reach Benghazi For 17 Days Because They Were WAITING ON Visa’s.

  60. Pablo says:

Unreal… Obama Administration Didn’t Reach Benghazi For 17 Days Because They Were WAITING ON Visa’s.

Um…they were sitting it Tripoli. They were already in country.

  61. Pablo says:

And it wasn’t an embassy, nor was it sovereign territory. My snap assessment of Gary Bernsten is that he’s a dope. If a CIA dude can’t grasp simple facts that are available to a keyboard warrior like myself, we need better CIA dudes.

  62. newrouter says:

    buck up peeps

    In A Big Country

  63. BigBangHunter says:

    – Hillary was probably already pissed they were making her accept using a consulate as a CIA base of operations almost exclusively. She would be all too aware of the potential damage if they were outed. At some point she just wasn’t going to go along with it anymore, and then they doubled down throwing her and State under the bus. Wrong move.

    – Bottom line; They’ll try to weasel out using “National security” now that Hillary has gone public.

    – I want to see what Bill does next.

  64. newrouter says:

And it wasn’t an embassy, nor was it sovereign territory

really what was mr. chris’ chateau ?

  65. BigBangHunter says:

    – Obama didn’t meet or speak directly with anyone from Intel. He was probably told by someone on his staff that Intel had assured the WH that they had a pat cover story, and he took off for Nevada.

    – He had a campaign to run, and the dead were already dead so no big. They were happy to get it all under wraps and had more important things to worry about than some small peanuts consulate. Just write it off and forget it.

    – But a few days later they realized the cover story was not washing too well, so they doubled down with Rice. But their mistake was two fold.

    – First off she is not in any way someone who would be called upon to speak for Hillary or State. That idea is simply ludicrous.

    – Secondly, if for some strange reason she had to be called on she lacks any authority to speak for State without the direct guidance and express permission of the WH and the president.

    – So the entire approach is bogus on the face of it.

    – Then they really screwed with the wrong pooch. Hillary.

    – If Issa pursues this correctly Bummblefuck and his merry men are toast.

  66. John Bradley says:

BTW, I can highly recommend the latest Stratosphere Lounge (#16) from Bill Whittle. He’s been off doing other things for the past few weeks, so he’s been saving up a nice big pile of outrage.

Goes off on a long semi-rant about Obama and the Libya thing for the first 20mins or so. He’s not a fan; the word “treason” comes up more than once. After a brief discursion, he’s back on the subject starting around the 37min mark.

Passion with reason; the man’s a godsend for our cause — or would be, if only more people knew of him.

  67. serr8d says:

OT, but the BFD in Proggville today (eclipsing even Big Bird) is sensationalizing #Sensata, that auto parts supplier in Illinois what’s shipping off to China. Because Bain Capital owns it, so does Mitt Romney of course; those 172 jobs lost KOS says will cost Romney this election.

I’ve helpfully pointed out that Solyndra cost us 1100 jobs and half a billion in tax monies, including some funneled to Obama’s cronies (note the, for now, top image in the ‘Top Images’ section… ).

  68. serr8d says:

    This, as push-back against KOSensata.

They are desperate; since Obama’s weakening somewhat just before the election, there’s much anger and hatred frothing for Romney. Makes me want to support the sorry bastard, just to spite the other sorry bastard(s) even more.

Tonight’s debate is destined to be pivotal. Drink a shot every time ‘47 Percent!‘ is mentioned. I’m buying a new bottle of Bombay Sapphire just for this event!

  69. McGehee says:

And it wasn’t an embassy, nor was it sovereign territory

I believe consulates are considered sovereign territory for the same reason embassies are, if that’s the locale you’re referring to.

  70. Slartibartfast says:

    Because shut up.

We’re going to see this echoed around by the same people who wanted photos of coffins returning home. By the same people who thought that Cindy Sheehan should be poster girl for antiwar pushback.

This is all getting so predictable. I understand how Christopher’s father might not want his son’s death to get politicized, but I think we’re past the point of no return on that.

“Working hard to exploit this issue” my ass. I’d maybe grant that a bit of listening were the Obama administration working even harder to sweep it all under the carpet.

  71. Slartibartfast says:

    not working even harder….

    Stupid innerwebs.

  72. sdferr says:

The elder Mr. Stevens seems to have no concept of the meaning of politics. Everything is sad for him.

  73. Slartibartfast says:

    Really: shut up.

  74. Slartibartfast says:

I am inclined to give the guy a break. Who I am not inclined to give a break are those people who think the death of an ambassador (and 3 others) shouldn’t be politicized, but are entirely willing to politicize the feelings of a man whose son has been killed.

  75. sdferr says:

Can Obama orchestrate to drum David Petraeus out of government, barking in indignation as he does so “This man mislead our White House, he mislead the entire world with his fabricated story of the mob angry over that stupid video. So he must leave, for he does us no good!”?

It’s very hard to see how that would work; not in the first place as to be quickly organized (by the press mounting a campaign against Petraeus beforehand); not in the second place, on the assumption Petraeus wouldn’t sing like a canary in self-defense to willing interlocutors in Congress and elsewhere; not in the third place, as it could easily begin the unraveling of whatever spookicity was afoot in Libya; just not on any serious level contemplable. Dude is totally stuck.

  76. leigh says:

Obama has finally outsmarted himself, but good.

If he thinks Petraeus is going to fall on his ceremonial sword for him, he better think again.

Whether Obama likes it or not, the buck does stop with him. He needs to read up on the aftermath of the My Lai Massacre and that while 2LT. William Calley committed many of the atrocities and was imprisoned, it was General Westmoreland who kissed his career good-bye and is disgraced to this day.

No one is irreplaceable. Even the president.

  77. Celtic Dragon says:

But Obama IS the irreplaceable man Leigh, everyone who is anyone knows that.

    Also, raaaaaacist! ;-)

  78. Blake says:

slart, I think you’ve hit on the new racism…politics.

Anything that might reflect badly on the administration is now called “playing politic with a serious issue.”

  79. Blake says:

    *politics

  80. Pablo says:

I believe consulates are considered sovereign territory for the same reason embassies are, if that’s the locale you’re referring to.

No, and in fact the Benghazi consulate was a rental.

  81. Libby says:

Obama’s an idiot if he thinks he can pretend that he was not fully informed of the events & security requests leading up to the Libya attack. ALso, Obama failed to immediately take action when it was first reported – he waited over 1 hours before sending in assistance.
According to Col. David Hunt (interviewed on the Howie Carr radio show):
    * When an embassy requests more security it automatically goes to the National Security Adviser and Council and appears on the Presidents daily National Security Briefing.
    * When an attack like this happens there are a dozen watch centers, at the CIA, Pentagon, White House, State Dept. etc. that monitor the event in REAL TIME and exchange information. The National Security Council and National Security Adviser are informed in real time. Where was Obama during all this, and how did he fail to notice – during the 6 hour long attack – that there were no rioters?

Obama does not have plausible deniability. In fact, not knowing this stuff would mean he’s completely incompetent and cut off from vital National Security people within his administration.
