“House to consider eliminating Senate confirmation for presidential appointees” [update]

Constitution? Piffle. Temporary Congresses can just simply vote to do away with checks and balances. For future “streamlining” and “efficiency.”

Wouldn’t want the road to serfdom filled with all these procedural potholes, after all.

Forward!

“UPDATE: The House passed the legislation Tuesday night by a vote of 261-116. The bill now goes to President Obama’s desk for his signature.”

Next up, Congress will vote to let itself off the hook for passing laws or managing spending.  For the “efficiency” that comes from an authoritarian government!

The “Presidential Efficiency and Streamlining Act” sounds like a PESA shit. Little wonder that it’s one of Schumer’s little gems.

If our community had any actual representation in the House, they’d leave the title and re-write the text to de-fund and disband the departments of Education, Energy, HHS, Transportation, HUD, Labor, Veteran’s Affairs, and Homeland Security.

Send it back to Reid and Schumer with a little Post-It on the cover saying, “You asked for streamlining? You got it!”

The House should give it all the consideration it’s due, though it’ll probably clog the toilets.

So the line item veto was totally unconstitutional but advice and consent of the Senate is no biggy?

Say what? The House voted to eliminate Senate confirmation for presidential appointees? And what exactly does the Senate have to say about this? I’m guessing it has to do with a pair of middle fingers….

If the Senate does choose to diminish itself, is that just the latest sign of decadence, or is it more like the first signal of senesence?

  16. SDN says:

Swen, the Senate was where this little monstrosity originated. After all, it isn’t a revenue bill.
