Because though it’s all for our own good, there’s a strong chance we might not see it that way in time — and then we’d vote, you know, incorrectly.
Later, when it’s forced on us and we no longer have any recourse to prevent it, then we’ll learn to love it. Like an arranged marriage, kind of. So exotic. So foreign. So noble.
In general terms, as to having no recourse, I think it only fair to counsel the Democrats who intend to annihilate the Constitution that people will, sooner or later, catch on to those intentions.
At which point, those people, or subjects, as the Democrats view them, may recall that there are extra-Constitutional measures of recourse available. To which, if the Democrats should object, the people may fairly reply: You Democrats should have thought about that before you destroyed your only protections from us.

Someone paid to ask questions of public officials (I forget the term….journo…something) could even ask why these are delayed, if they are right and good and wise. If only we could find one of these missing people to do such.
