University of Colorado Ethnic Studies professor and anti-American firebrand Ward Churchill and 70s Kung-fu expert and counterculture icon Billy Jack engage in a bit of faux-Native American chest puffery

image “You hear about that chick who scalped a teenager last month?  Well, I like to think my work in raising the profile of oppressed Native Americans had something to do with that little bit of authentic American justice.’”*

    Talk about your mean girls.

  2. insomni says:

Man, if I had a dime for every feminist scalping…

  3. Sean M. says:

STAY ALIVE!  I WILL FIND YOU!

  4. Carin says:

Well, you gotta watch out who you disrespect now-a-days.

(And people wonder why I home school.)

  5. Ana says:

I’d never thought of the “our kid won’t get scalped” angle to homeschooling, but I’ll use that the next time I get the usual slew of dumbass socialization questions. Bet it puts an end to that line of inquiry.

  6. Daniel says:

Forgive me for nitpicking but Billy Jack isn’t a “….Kung-fu expert”. Actually, he’s a Hapkido stylist.

Hapkido is a Korean martial art that combines Tae Kwon Do-like kicks with Aikido-like joint locks and Ju Jitsu-like throws.

Kung-fu is a Chinese martial art that -for the most part- combines stances, kicks and punches loosely based on the observations of animal movements.

I can’t hear you if you don’t knock, Curtis.

  8. kelly says:

    Who’s Curtis?

  9. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Spicoli’s younger brother.

“Dad, Jeff threw a snorkel at me!”

  10. Beck says:

Jeff through a snorkel?  Sounds like some sort of baroque form of contraception.

  11. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Huh?

    smile

  12. Ward Churchill said last night that he doesn’t work for Colorado taxpayers.

I think we should take him at his word and call that an effective resignation of his tenured position.

  13. JWebb says:

    Churchill IS a Colorado taxpayer.

Ya’ll work out the permutations. It hurts my brain.

  14. Sean M. says:

Ward Churchill is a sponsor of the State of Colorado’s program of fascist genocide!

  15. Darleen says:

Churchill strikes a ridiculous figure, but his writings are chilling.

The man is a Holocaust denier and his published denials are used by the usual Israel-and-Jews-are-evil ilk. this little homage:

There has also been a more recent major elaboration of the scope and meaning of genocide as it applies to the Palestinian and many other people, in a book by a Native American academic Ward Churchill. In his brilliant book on the genocide by European settlers and soldiers against the entire Western Hemisphere, Churchill, a professor at Colorado State University, in A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas 1492 to the Present (San Franciso, City Lights Books, 1977) articulates Raphael Lemkin’s definition of genocide. In doing so, Churchill points out that Holocaust exclusivists–like Cornell’s Stephen Katz–have completely misrepresented Lemkin’s careful definition of genocide …

[Ward writes]The factors motivating exclusivists to conduct themselves as they do have been analyzed elsewhere. They concern the agenda of establishing a ‘truth’ which serves to compel permanent maintenance of the privileged political statues of Israel, the Jewish state established on Arab land in 1947 as an act of international atonement for the Holocaust; to forge a secular reinforcement, based in the myth of unique suffering, of Judaism’s theological belief in itself as comprising a ‘special’ or ‘chosen’ people, entitled to all the prerogatives of such; and to construct a conceptual screen behind which to hide the realities of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian population whose rights and property were usurped in its very creation.

It’s also been reported that Ward has said “the murder of European Jews was not a fixed policy objective of the Nazis.” I want to know how long this evil being has been “teaching” and why hasn’t anyone nailed the son-of-a-bitch before? Who ever promoted this fiend to Department head should be summarily fired, too.

  16. Tonto says:

The Jews are what made me become an Indian.

  17. Carin says:

Ana – I know it was a bit of a stretch … but the whole “disrepecting” culture drives me batty.  Since I live in Detroit, it wouldn’t be angry mohawked punk rockers, but more of the gang bang variety that would do harm under the name of “disrespecting” (if I sent them to school, which I don’t.)

  18. David says:

I talked with my brother who got his PhD at CU and still lives in Boulder.  According to him Churchill as an administrator at CU wrote the job description for the position he now holds.  Can anyone out there verify that?  My web search didn’t find anything.

By the way via The Daily Camera I discovered that the Mandan genocide article was written for a court case Churchill testified at.  If the article is a lie isn’t that purjury?

  19. When will this story be over with? Have they decided what to do with him? I want his 15 min. of fame over.

  20. kelly says:

Yeah, that little scalping incident happened just down the interstate from me. As far as I know, the perp is part Native Indian. You know, just like Ward Churchill.

  21. Read somewhere that the scalper was ‘involved’ with the victim.

Grain of salt and all that.

    “Easy”
