What’s say WE go all activist, too?

If someone here has the time and the means, please mock-up in Photoshop or some such, a sign / sticker, etc., designed with a (disgusted) nod to the sadly all too common gun-free zone signs, that reads as follows:

“This is most definitely NOT a gun-free zone. So if you’re thinking about doing something stupid, you’re gonna want to look elsewhere.”

Beneath the sign should be something like the ubiquitous red circle with diagonal red line signifying a disallowed behavior, only inside it should be a simple iconographic representation of a person or persons (like a family, perhaps) being held up — hands in the air, eg. — by an aggressor (maybe the silhouette can indicate a hoodie — which is far more common these days on criminals than a mask and a white shirt with horizontal black stripes).

The sign should be sized so as to be printable, and we can make them available for download and printout; we can have several sticker designs, from a decal for windows (kind of our own Second Amendment version of an ADT sticker) to bumper stickers.

Time to start letting the ruling class and opportunistic nannystatists know that they can’t milk every tragedy to take away our rights, and that in fact, we realize that it is because we have these rights that we are safer than the people in that Aurora theater who were rendered impotent and passive as a result of their willingness to follow dangerous, feel-good rules.

Which is what law-abiding citizens tend to do, and which those intent on wrecking mass havoc do not.

    A revolutionary idea.

That’s a lot to put on a sticker, but I’ve been working on shit like this in my free time for the last couple of months (see blog link). I could work something up when I have time.

Found this and this online. Not exactly what you wanted, but in the ballpark.

    Tangentially related –

“We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” — President Ronald Reagan

I’ve seen the reflexive lefty criticism of the “two Aurora shootings” argument, which is that the defender in the church was an off-duty cop. So far, they haven’t had any good rebuttal for my riposte, which is that another word for “off-duty cop” is “civilian.”

That’s funny, RTO. But it’s also why I thought that this idea was a lot going on for an ADT-type sticker.

I like to keep an air of mystery, myself.

The “No guns, no money” cards you can hand out to businesses that want you to make yourself an unarmed victim are pretty cool, though.

Using RTO’s idea, something simple like this might work:

I was thinking today a picture of a homeless bum with a sign saying “will provide infrastructure for food” would be pretty funny.

    Bloomberg calls for activism.

Last night New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg made an extraordinarily dangerous and radical pronouncement. He was appearing on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” when the host asked him: “Why do so many Americans not feel angry enough to demand further gun control?” Here’s his answer:

Well, I would take it one step further. I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say, we’re going to go on strike. We’re not going to protect you. Unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.

After all, police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult but, more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them, and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor-piercing bullets.

The Puffington Host reports that Bloomberg is not standing behind his statement: “According to a tweet from New York Times reporter Kate Taylor, Bloomberg tried to walk that statement back on Tuesday. ‘I don’t mean literally go on strike,’ Bloomberg said, according to Taylor. ‘In fact in New York they can’t go on strike–there’s a law against it.’ “

‘I don’t mean literally go on strike,’ Bloomberg said,

So how do you figuratively go on strike? Keep showing up for a paycheck, but not really give a shit about doing your job?

Yeah, Bloomers, that is much better.
