Really. MSNBC guest, Mark Thompson, beclowns himself.
The political term “kitchen cabinet” was coined in the early 1800s to describe the group of informal advisers around President Andrew Jackson. According to a guest on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” on Wednesday, however, the term is “culturally insensitive.”
Mark Thompson, host of SiriusXM’s “Make It Plain,” told host Lawrence O’Donnell that Mitt Romney should not have used the term at the NAACP convention in Houston.
“This might have been a small thing, but it’s important for people to understand,” Thompson said. “You cannot be culturally ignorant. He singled out one African-American who came with the 20 in his entourage as an African-American that was in his kitchen cabinet in Massachusetts, and he promised that he would remain in his kitchen cabinet if he was in the White House.”
According to Thompson, mentioning African-Americans and kitchens at the same time is a bad idea.
Actually, Thompson is being a bit niggardly with his advice. Let’s not shove this discussion of what is proper conversational, cultural sensitivity down a black hole. We must take into account that our more melanin-enriched brethren are intellectually incapable have been, and will always be, victims of the darkest days of white privilege.
I’m pretty sure 3 1/2 years of Obama’s people calling anyone that disagrees with the Jug Eared Marxist “racist” has undermined the definition of the word. Since everybody’s racist, somebody needs to come up with a word that means “even more racist” so that it can be applied to the Klan, the NAACP, etc.
Well, in the immortal words of Grandpa from The Boondocks, “The hell I can’t!”
I wonder what real estate agents do when showing blacks around a house … are they obligated to just wave a hand and say “and here we are in the spacious room that you may want to cook in, but like, you’re not obligated to cook or stay in it, I’m not trying to imply anything like that”
Heaven forfend they say “bathroom” either
You cannot be culturally ignorant.
That’s really rich, coming from a group who reflexively mischaracterize the Tea Party. I mean, let’s just pretend that middle-class middle Americans aren’t the mainstream culture in this country…
Fish don’ fry in the oven
pies don’ cool on the sill
Took a whole lot a tryin’
Jess to get up that hill….
Oh we’re movin’ on up to the east-side,
To that de’lux apartment in the sky-hi-hi…
Oh we’re movin’ on up to the east side,
Finally got a piece of the pie-yi-yi…..
– We should’nt be to hard on the Left. They learned everything they know about Black culture watching Archie Bunker and George Jefferson…..
I love how the dolts in the video Darleen linked to are all grinning and snorting and shaking their heads in the amazement that anyone could be so stupid and culturally ignorant as to use the word “kitchen” around black perople. Good god, it just isn’t done!
Anyway, nothing to get wee-wee’d up about. Maybe Mitt just needs somebody on his staff to take care of the curly hairs on the back of his neck?
My dad’s brother is named Thomas. Guess I’m racist every time I address him.
Yeah, in my culture it’s offensive to call black Americans African Americans, unless, you know, they are naturalized citizens from Africa.
So go fuck yourself, igno
– One thing you have to love about the Left. Thev’ve spent years living by the racist sword, and now they’re poised to die by the same:
“Obama’s Absence The Talk Of NAACP Convention”
“I don’t think there’s anyone around the president who’s really, truly from the black community,” complains Chambliss.”
– Rush: “When did Romney leave Bain?…..what total BS….I don’t give a $#@$%, What I want to know is when will Obama leave the White House.”
– Hes really going after the Bain thing, just totally hammering Obama’s campaign.
– Romney is demanding the Obama staffer that used the word ‘felony’ publickly apologize.
– Of course through all of this crap noone is fooled. Bummbledick has nothing he can say about his disasterous 4 years, so they’re flogging any story they can make up to distract, and the in-the-tank press is looking like total partisan idiots.
– Aside from seeing Obama get the boot, hopefully the Left-wing legacy meda will suffer the results of their biased reporting as well.
Yep, BBH — the “authenticity” card was always Obama’s weakness, and now it’s the one that “real” blacks will use to distance themselves from his failure.
– McGehee, did you see where Obama is riding dirty again. Yesterday he had his health and services department use the sectiom 1115 waiver clause to gut the Welfare reform act. Hes claiming now that no work applications are needed for welfare.
– The welfare reform law requires work, and the waiver clause is intentionally coupled to another section that says only listed items, and its intentially empty to preclude exactly what Obamas trying to pull.
– Hes now rewritting laws/legislation on his own.
– This fucker has to go.
– This fucker has to go.
From your keyboard to God’s ears, BBH.
-Rush is getting almost apoplectic. Hes covering the “kitchen cabinet” thing and just ripping this whole rediculous extent of the race card thing, where anything you say in disagteement with the Won you;re raaaaaaaacist.
I heard part of his show today. Rush was doing a great job. He played bits of Condi’s speech at the Romney fundraiser from the other night, too. The audio was terrible, but she sure didn’t sound the least bit diplomatic.
It’s too bad we’ll end up with T-Paw or Huntsman.
– I don’t even want to hazard a guess on the VP thing, The general way this campaign is being run looks like the O’bum camp has chosen to opt for aggressive chaos.
– And why not, it worked well for them in 2004, and any atempt at running on his record is dead at conception, so its all they’ve got. But I don’t think its working and they know it, so waffle ears is trying to do as much damage as he can before he goes.
Oh, I don’t have a clue on the veep thing. I was just yacking. It doesn’t really matter since you can practically smell the burning toast through the teevee whenever the Wonce or his spokesweasels are on.
OT: Syria is now stock-piling Sarin, cyanide and mustard gas. This Assad chap is kind of a bounder.
– Faithful lap-dog yahoo posted the “mistake I made” speech and wrote it looking for sympathy for the Won.
I looked through hundreds of the comments, and they were 100% ripping ~O~ a new ass, even the very few progs that commented.
– If they’re looking to stir up support they’re finding out that the backlash has started in earnest.
“OT: Syria is now stock-piling Sarin, cyanide and mustard gas. This Assad chap is kind of a bounder.”
– Assad is going down.
– You know I don’t want to go all arrogant on Romneys chances, but I look at Obamas antics, everyday he alienates another blck of voters, even in some case parts of his uwn base because the lies he uses to buy their votes aren’t workable and fail so often, and on the other hand he busy doing as much over-reach rogue law changing as he can. It just doesn’t seem he’ll be able to come anywhere near weathering this massive failure hes sitting on.
– and that means something else that is rolling around in the back of my mind. I know all to well what the Left is capable of when they see they’re going to lose. Putting it as delicately as I can, I just hope the secret service have Romney protrcted like a glove, because if they think they can’t beat him then their recent words in their camp. “lets kill this guy”, could be more than just hyperbole.
– With all the raving nutbags under the Prugressive big tent, its deeply worrusome.
Be of good cheer, my Outlaw friend. Even my aging liberal hippy friends are abandoning the Won. They are openly jeering him and talking about what a disappointment he has been. Their reasons? He’s just too darned conservative.
Oh, my sides.
– Well yeh Leigh, I know hes managed to even piss off his base because he hasn’t been ROGUE enough, which I guess if you’re a progressive you want to go straight to a politiburo and a state run collective for everything. But they’re simply insane, which is exactly the concrn I was raising.
– Everyone agrees that in many ways we’re hanging on by a thread. Something like another Kennedy thing to either Obama or Romney could light the powder keg.
D, got a typo on “cabinet” in the title.
*Chuckle*, yeh bh, i’d see that (not) – :)
The period between November 7 and January 20 is going to be “interesting” in the sense of the famous Chinese curse.
It’s going to make the removal of W’s from White House keyboards in 2001 look like a kiss on the mouth.
Something like another Kennedy thing to either Obama or Romney could light the powder keg.,
I worry about this all the time, as well. The thing that cheers me about the Secret Service is that a great deal of them are Mormons themselves and take their jobs very seriously.
Team Obama has been pulling shenanigans to gin up faux concerns about the pres’s safety. “Someone” taking pot-shots at the WH residence when O and family were nowhere near DC. Floated reports of “incidents” and near misses that are extremely vague and impossible to run down. Freak outs by the press about citizens dissing the president, thereby proving that we are all still raaaacist, &c.
Thankfully, the Wonce is doing a great job of tanking his own chances every time he speechifies and tells more lies. If Biden keeps “helping”, I think it could be a landslide.
– Maybe the reasons for my concerns might be due to living through the 60’s when I had to duck down under my work bench in the lab several times because roaming gangs of minorities were shooting out the windows, and in the evening at quiting time, a fellow Black engineer had to walk with a group of whites out to the waiting National guard jeeps outfitted with 50 mm machine guns to drive us out of the war zone in downtoen Cleveland.
– This generation, in fact all of the generations from the early 70’s, have no idea how bad things can get with civil breakdown, and did not understand that the Marxist rats on the Left have been teaching them all the years to destroy their way of life and eat their own feet.
– When we finally dig our way out of this disaster, and I remain optimistic that we will, I hope a lesson has been learned that will not be soon forgotten . That is my found hope.
I was pretty young back then, but I remember idiots blowing up the Bank of America in Isla Vista and all of the hippies all over the place in the beach communities and San Francisco. The summer that I was eleven was awful. The Manson murders were all over the papers. Before that, it had been Bobby Kennedy getting shot in Los Angeles. Watts was still a hotbed. The Black Panthers were walking around Oakland with rifles. All of that happened in the 60s, but I follow what you’re saying. I was on the left coast and didn’t really understand what was going on back East then.
I don’t ever want the country to go through that again. Of course, my wishing doesn’t make it so.
– Well all of that came out of the assassinations of the Kennedy’s, a half nuts electorate that was still reeling under the cold war nuclear threat, made 1000 times worse because of JFK’s brilliant move of putting missiles into Turkey, therby causing the entire Cuban crisus, Johnsons paranoid admin, Kent State, Nixons’ enemy list insane fight with the loony love child crowd, all during which we were busting our asses in aerospace to get MAD deplyed, stop Communisn in its tracks, and get the hell pout of Nam. From about halfway through Nixons first term the country was being run by the state department.
– All of it, all those years of fighting Communicm, thinking we’d defeated them for good, only to watch them invade us all over again from within with the help of bastards like Kerry. and all the Lefties in the college system.
Neither Obama nor Mittens is irreplaceable.
Damned straight there would and should be a murder trial if some nitwit shot and killed either of of the two as well as a visit to Gumby if the perp was found guilty. And it would be hard lines for the families involved.
But a disaster for the country? Please.
Richard, the problem isn’t that either is irreplaceable.
The problem is that if it happened to Romney, O! would have a wonderful excuse for any number of things, from “under the radar” gun control to simply cancelling the election.
If it happened to O!, especially if the perp was a Southern white guy with ties to the Tea Party (based on anything from membership to donations to his library), the Democrats would have an excuse for all of those things plus using the martyred O! to get their replacement elected a la LBJ. Not to mention the instant “race riots”. And if you think that isn’t exactly who the alleged perp would be, you haven’t been paying attention.
Heck, Trayvon Martin was a gangbanger wannabe and people are being given a pass on putting out bounties; can you imagine what would happen if the “first black President” was the victim?
Well said, SDN. That’s what I was driving at in my post at 1:03.
– The Left know well the explosive temperment of their “protected classes”. They serve two puroises for the statists. They will vote for anyone who throws them the handout bone, and they can be driven into civil chaos with the slightest provocation. Win/win for them, and they don’t hesitate for a moment to use staged “protests” if they think they need too, and they don’t just use minority manipulation for elections. The whole Travis Martin thing is part of an ongoing agitprop campaign to keep race relations at a fevor pitch.
– Theres not a doubt in my mind that they would hit either candidate if they had the opportunity, brcause either way they’d get the rioting that lets them crap all over our country.
– You see that shit already starting in LA with the #OWies in league with the “art community”. Its always the same societal outliers, and they’re always after the same thing. Stir up the shitstorm so they may be able to score some free crap. Thats all they really give a fuck about.
– They did it in Watts under the guise of civil rights but it was just a cover so they could raid business’ and grab TV’s and anything they could haul off in the chaos. Its all been done over and over, and I recognize the signs when they’re in a position to do it again.
