“How Liberals Win”

It’s a stirring homage to corporatism from a caring liberal fascist who’s made his peace with the necessity of liberal fascism, should one wish ever truly to be caring, as of course he is.  After all, to get good things done you need good people willing to do them — and sadly, that oftentimes means bypassing the bad people who stand in the way of the good people, even if to bypass the bad people one has to adopt a little bit of tyranny and cronyism as their methods of choice.

But it’s not really tyranny and cronyism, because those are bad things, and by definition, good people — like contemporary, caring liberals, eg. — can’t do bad things in the service of goodness.  Instead,  what they’re doing is good things that look and function like bad things, but are really good things, because they are being used in the service of goodness by good people doing good!

Just think of it as a goodness penalty functioning like a goodness tax, and it all makes perfect sense.

update:  Mr Scher Tweets:  “This one gets framed on my wall, next to my Mussolini shrine”.

Let me state for the record that I don’t believe for a moment Mr Scher would have anything so tacky as a Mussolini shrine in his home.  But autographed and professionally graded FDR and Woodrow Wilson trading cards?  I have no doubt whatsoever.

    “How liberals win.”

Always lead off with a good joke.

PRESIDENT OBAMA has endured much criticism of his legislative skills from his fellow progressives.

    That’s the ticket!

  2. How liberals win, and being a zero sum game in their eyes, guess who the losers are. Suckers.

So, do you suppose that’s Scher’s house in his Twitter background pic? You know, the one with the Obama yard sign?

The bottom line is this: I will be voting against John Roberts’ nomination. I do so with considerable reticence. I hope that I am wrong. I hope that this reticence on my part proves unjustified and that Judge Roberts will show himself to not only be an outstanding legal thinker but also someone who upholds the Court’s historic role as a check on the majoritarian impulses of the executive branch and the legislative branch.

    Senator Barack Obama

Thanks for the updated reference. When I put Calvino in the search bar of that twitter page I found this:

    Jo Calvino,
GB Weightlifter,10th in Europe,British Record Holder in U48kg&U53kg all that for under 5ft!GLL Regional Aquatic Development Manager who loves High Heels

Somehow, I don’t see Bill Scher following the exploits of some British Powerlifting chick.

Starting with an unproven, unprovable assertion of faith, “His conciliatory approach“, sets the right tone for the main twist which is one of the left’s favorite things. Combining two separate sets into one and using that false combination in argument.

The most often use is with the term “the rich” but in this piece the term is “corporations”. The left may rail against “corporate power” but they always get in bed with big (anything really) business while working to actually hurt/punish/destroy the small businesses. These two entities are not the same and their interests are mostly opposed to one another but that is completely ignored because that reality is unhelpful.

Their use of both the term “corporations” and the term “the rich” are both designed to project the image into the listeners mind of billionaires and multi-billion dollar companies as what the left is fighting while hiding the fact that what they really hate and wish ruined is, as it has always been, that group once called the bourgeois, the small business owner, the yeoman farmer, their enemies ever.

Sorry to be so fucking repetitive but they keep on doing the same crap over and over so I have to too.

If bloggers are so inconsequential, why do “real” journalists read and respond to them so often?

Liberals win by buying support using money taken from others by the state.

    Fixed it for ya, Bill.

LeftLibProggs win by lying their mangy asses off. And by attracting the votes of the easily-subdued moocher-class, whom they woo with promises of other people’s monies. Said moochers are convinced these monies are rightfully theirs, because they are AMERICANS! who believe the LeftLibProgg lies that their ‘AMERICAN!’ status somehow gives them the right to expect, and be given, ‘free’ shit.

I’m afraid they will find the inevitable cultural reckoning quite shocking.

How liberals lose: by enslaving people — like doctors, say — and expecting them not to notice their lives have been taken away.

That was just now on. The Fifth Element ended just now on the teevee. It looked like the girl lived. That was so sweet the way he was holding her like a little raggedy doll. You see, the fifth element was love, I mean, who could have seen that coming? Without binoculars or a super good 400mm lens or something.

  15. bour3 says:

And whereas the other elements were stone, the element of love is a humanoid element. Oh, it’s just so touching.

Seeing the film again I realize how clever the editing where they ask a question or make a statement and it is answered by a cutaway to a different scene an opposing activity. It is a brisk way to advance the plot and keep the chaos alive while still making sense to all parties all the way through.

A real life example might be a scene where an administration spokesperson is speechifying, “now 3,000.000 previously uninsured citizens have coverage.” Cut away to athletic type males, certainly gymnastic types, flipping over Arizona border fences.

That sort of thing throughout the film.

The scary huge guys in rubber suits getting beat up all the time is funny too.

Liberals, soothing their conscience with your money since 1932.

Not to mention, buying their votes with your money since about the same time.

  18. LBascom says:

    Liberals win by…

    “want a lollipop little girl?”

“help me find my cute fuzzy puppy and you can play with it”

“your parents wouldn’t let you do what? tsk tsk…

“of course Billy should have shared with you, the big bully!”

    “Every body gets a trophy!”

    ;-P

    Conservatives lose by…

“get a job and try not to fuck up your life, cuz that’s unpleasant.”

  19. McGehee says:

“How Liberals Win” — by lying about the game, the stakes, and the definition of “winning.” Next question.

This is my table-flip moment on the whole thing.

Of course they win by arguing from an inherent stance of goodness. And it makes them intellectually lazy tools of those with evil ends, when they aren’t the ones with evil ends themselves.

Also Gary Oldman is surprisingly hot with half his head shaved like that.

The “Win” will stop when enough of the Y’ers are finally forced to give up the toys of childhood just to survive.

Nonsense. If the Y’ers cannot get a job or a house, it’s just that much more motivation to grant the death panels a long leash. A quick argument that Mom and Dad are no longer economically productive, and bang! You’ve got yourself a cubicle in Mom or Dad’s workplace, the master bedroom in the house, and your pick of their cars!

It’s three-dimensional chess, man — you need to think ahead.

“Majoritarian impulses”??? WTH does that even mean?

  27. sdferr says:

    “WTH does that even mean?”

It means: “When I, Barack Obama, am not in charge, the world is wrong.”
