Blood evidence [Darleen Click]

ABC News

A new photograph obtained exclusively by ABC News showing the bloodied back of George Zimmerman’s head, which was taken three minutes after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, gives possible credence to his claim that Martin had bashed his head against the concrete as he fought for his life. […]

The exclusive image shows blood trickling down the back of George Zimmerman’s head from two small cuts. It also shows a possible contusion forming on the crown of his head. The original police report that night notes that the back of Zimmerman’s head was wet, and that he was bleeding from the nose and head. […]

The photographer told ABC News exclusively that they did not see the scuffle that night, but did hear it. The source saw Martin’s prostrate body on the wet grass and claims the gunpowder burns on Martin’s gray hoodie were clearly visible; the gunpowder marks could show that Martin was shot at very close range.

The photographer says that after the shooting Zimmerman asked to call his wife. When the photographer asked what to say, Zimmerman allegedly blurted out “man, just tell her I shot someone.”

ABC News has learned that investigators have seen the photo.

“How bad could it have been if they didn’t take him to the hospital [and] didn’t stitch him up,” Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said in a statement to ABC News in response to the image. “The special prosecutor has seen all the evidence and still believes George Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin.

If Zimmerman is released [on bail], his attorney tells ABC News that he has a number of potential safe houses prepared.

Yes, let’s talk about racism and the fact, that whatever the outcome of this tragedy, Sharpton et al, will make sure Zimmerman spends the rest of his life like Salman Rushdie, always looking over his shoulder for the bullet in the back.

Small cuts. Well, there we have it. If GZ had had eyes in the back of his head to survey and cooly assess the unfolding drama, surely TM would be alive today.

A nice conversation would have ensued.

ABC has an interesting wire service. In this version, “small” does not appear.

    ABC, you say?

then there was CNN, with their expert PROOF! of “coon” cum “cold” cum “punk”.

Thank goodness we have all these layers of editors and fact checkers.

GZ racism emerged when Trayvon Martin started beating the crap out of him.
Getting your ass kicked really brings out the worst in people.

  5. SDN says:

That cut closest to the light looks about 4 inches and extends as an abrasion line across the back of Zimmerman’s head, which is consistent with having your head slammed into an edge (either where it met grass, or an expansion groove) of a concrete sidewalk.

That photo says justifiable homicide, self-defense.

  6. Pablo says:

Moral: Never attempt to beat the shit out of a guy with a gun. Or, don’t bring your fists to a gunfight.

Friend of mine is with the Orlando PD.

And then we have the media’s opinion.

Meanwhile – in Detroit 2 black women were kidnapped and murdered. Because one was going to testify against an ex-boyfriend who SHOT her previously. She refused, and was going to testify, so he grabbed her and her friend and they were killed.

Now 5 (black) men have been charged.

Kettler also expressed concern for the witness availability and their safety. There are more than 40 witnesses in the case, she said.

“All civilian witnesses are here despite receiving threats on the phone and in person,” she said.

Paruk spoke to the defendants — all in yellow jumpsuits — that they are not to have any contact with the witnesses, complainants or their family and friends. He also warned that the case would proceed Tuesday regardless.

Justice was originally thwarted and now continues to be. Public outrage? Zero. Al Shaprton/Jesse Jackson sighting? None. Comments by Obama? not yet.

Who killed, of course, two women who could look like one of Obama’s daughters?

The really new piece of news here is “gunpowder burns on Martin’s gray hoodie”.

While the injuries have been noted before and the pictures help confirm them, the burn marks have never been mentioned before. Now if we can find the location and eventually the angle of the shot it will seal the deal on the self defense shot. You don’t get powder burns on someone you are stalking but you do when they are top of you and your are struggling for your gun. I think the autopsy will eventually reveal a lower torso shot location with an up angle trajectory, which helps explain why one shot killed him and quickly too.

That would appear to be incontrovertible evidence that a physical altercation did occur prior to the shooting.

The coroner’s report will be huge. If Martin has no apparent injuries, other than the gunshot, the prosecution will have a hard time arguing that Martin was merely defending himself. The nature (head trauma) of this injuries also go a long way towards establishing a justification for use of deadly force.

Sure, it is possible that Martin felt threatened, but so far there is nothing to indicate that he was justified in getting physical with Zimmerman. Even if they attempt to argue that the wounds were the result of being knocked down by a defensive Martin that brings up the issue of the reported powder burns. Having knocked the purported threat to the ground what business would Martin have subsequently getting closer/climbing on top of him?

Under Florida statute 776.032, GZ could be immune to criminal prosecution.

    (1) A person who uses force as permitted in s. 776.012, s. 776.013, or s. 776.031 is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force […]

As used in this subsection, the term “criminal prosecution” includes arresting, detaining in custody, and charging or prosecuting the defendant.

    (2) A law enforcement agency may use standard procedures for investigating the use of force as described in subsection (1), but the agency may not arrest the person for using force unless it determines that there is probable cause that the force that was used was unlawful.

    (3) The court shall award reasonable attorney’s fees, court costs, compensation for loss of income, and all expenses incurred by the defendant in defense of any civil action brought by a plaintiff if the court finds that the defendant is immune from prosecution as provided in subsection (1).

Damages awards against the State could be substantial. Damages to certain political careers, ditto.

I think the very special prosecutor sees it as her duty to change the moral to: don’t bring your gun to a fistfight.

Zimmerman’s widow would have made a very sympathetic court-room figure at Martin’s manslaughter trial —assuming the police ever caught the hoodie-wearing, possibly black, suspicious character Zimmerman described to the police dispatcher.
